How do I save streaming ASF?

I've been trying to save a streaming asf file but I can't possibly do it. I've read about the media type but have yet to find a utility that will save the media. If starts as an asx and then forwards to an asf. I've tried ASFRecorder as well but that doesn't work either. Someone please help!

MT Dlx and Win2000

Several months ago, I was delighted to receive as a gift your program, MusicTime Deluxe. I installed it on my system and was extremely excited to be able to produce professional-looking sheet music. Last month I purchased a music keyboard that was compatible with my MusicTime Deluxe program. I also upgraded my computer to Windows 2000 pro. Alas! Now, my MusicTime Deluxe program looks funky! Things don't work right! I'm crushed! What do I do now?

vst...vst...vst...freeware?

Hello

I am an underage musician with no budget, no VST and no life. I cannot get Pro Tools free since my computer is but a 16 RAM Pentium 33 with Windows 95(I'm sure it must have been good once!) However :-) I also, by a birthday present, have a Soundblaster Live! Value installed and functioning, and a microphone, and a peavey guitar and amp WHICH I AM NOT PREPARED TO SACRIFICE. My question: are there any other VST - compatible programs that have no charge and no drawbacks? I've tried Massiva, Quartz and that 32-bit sequencer at Softseek and although they are all very nice and support DirectX none of them support VST. Somewhere, out there... is there a program that meets my needs?

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get

Interesting post, but too long. I do, however
appreciate much of the content.

You are wrong about at least one device, however.

Something that you described as being an ultrasonic
transmitter is "miscorrect. " You are alluding to heterodyning
loudspeakers or transducers. I did a research project about this
technology about a year ago, so i recognize it. Actually, the frequencies
transmitted are ultrasonic, but slightly detuned, so that they produce
beat frequencies by interfering with one another in a predetermined manner.
The beat frequencies are in the audible range for humans, so basically you
have a way to make an audio "laser". Ultrasonic sound waves are extremely directional
compared to audible audio waves, so the advantage is that heterodyning transducers
can project sound in a very focused, directional, laser-like way.
These soundwaves can be projected into a distant person's ear, having the psychological
effects you described, perhaps. But the technology isn't really
all that magical as you made it sound.

There are articles about hetereodyning transducers in JASA and JAES.
Journal of the Acoustical Society of the Americas, and Journal of the Audio
Engineering Society. I used to be a student member of AES.

Conspiracy theories are
always, just that... conspiracy theories. As long as the
truth is shrouded, you'll always seem like an outcast
while trying to figure it all out. It's just too complex
to get it all right. I do agree that drug induced psychosis
is a likely field of military research history and innovation.
That only makes sense from a logistic point of view of convenience.

Really, it's not what truths you know, but what
you can do with them.

I would focus your expression more upon convincing people
that even our system is corruptable and tricky, and less upon
convincing people that certain celebrities died mystical deaths.

I mean really it's about politics and sociology more than
conspiracy. Even if the conspiracy theory is true...
the root issues are what people will do to get what they
believe is right for them.

Personally I am no longer surprised about any accounts of
corruption in our government past or present.

This entire country is sick. Cancer has about 14 known causes
that our government knows about and allows... from water treatment
to toxic waste disposal. Then there's the elections, racial discriminations,...
and so on. Even when the U.S. is commendable and noble, if our
secret services are doing their jobs, they are up to no good.

business is business, and politics are politics.
it's a dog eat dog world.

thankfully we have a few hackers to keep the system
somewhat humble.

Not only do we now know how John Lennon was killed
but you've described what are most likely the exact
techniques Yoko Ono used to create those screeching
sounds on her records that the CIA want us to believe

This ones even better...

Hi,
That was just far fetched enough to be true. Im not a big conspiracy buff. Generally I find the most alarming things are rubbed in our noses daily but people are to busy being syringe fed theyre latest dose of pop culture to notice.

It all has to do with the way humans relate in groups. Its all the apeish behavior were familiar with, and its petty tribalism with multi national corporations and nuclear govenments. But of greater concern to myself is that the sheep of these tribes are no longer being mianipulated by members of their own tribe, but by focus groups and surveys- BY GREED.

Sadly, we now live in a great TYRANY. This tyrany goes beyond age, color, creed; this is **THE TYRANNY OF THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR**.

God is dead? Well, the shaman has been let go from the company to meet quarterly earnings. but before you get too upset try our 15 min. pizza delivera. coupled with a nice cup of coffee and/ or beer as you watch our prime time line up of drivel. And before you get pissed off about the quality of our sitcom( or is that your life) think about how your new stance would effect your monthly mortgage payment...

For the record-
I dont beleive in ufo's, I think we DID land on the moon, I dont care who shot JFK(most likely orchestrated by organised crime who helped him steal votes, but was then gone after by a zealous rfk), the beatles were only in it for the money(jk).

But. anyways the real reason for this post is this:
The cia got some bad press a few years back, it seems a number of the drug lords sought out by the dea were backed by the cia. The left hand knows not what the right hand does. So while the attorney general looked the other way in cahoots with the cia, a few dea agents went before congress and testified.

Of course, when a president gets his dick sucked IMPEACH HIM, but when one looks the other way as over %50 of the cocaine being shipped into the us is by cia backed parties( and at the same time creates the war on drugs) hes one of the gang, a real swell fella.

I totally agree

I totally agree. I remember the Iran Contra hearings too.
I remember the public learning of the CIA bringing drugs here
in helicoptors. Nobody cared. Reagan planted false news stories.
Nobody cared. It was all proven and made public. This nation sucks shit-ass.

It's all true, and I'm sure there's so much more
we'd die of shock if we knew what happened 2 weeks ago.

Help with cdr-rw

I just bought a new cdr-rw and I can't get it to recored any tracks at all and I need help

Re: Help with cdr-rw

: I just bought a new cdr-rw and I can't get it to recored any tracks at all and I need help

It's first of all important that you connected the thing right. Make the CD player the "Master" (jumper to the left) and the burner the "slave" (jumper to the middle). Connect both data and power cables; for luxury reasons, some computers (Dell) allow connectione od audio output cables of both player and burner. Beware: Data Cables are short, but some motherboards do not allow both reading and writing on te same IDE port! if this is the case, you must connect the CD Player to a different port from the CD burner - if there is a different port, and if your cables can span teh distance.

Some hardware (Creative for instance) is being sold with improper built-in software. Surf to the site of the manufacturer to update the built-in software (firmware)

Some programs prevent copies from being made, not to infringe on copyrights. The trick is to make backups, which is allowed. 1 is legal, but more are possible.

If you want to burn MP3 files to a CD player operable disk, you must first convert the MP3 files to WAVs and then let the burner software do the trick of converting it to proper CD quality music (with the limitations of MP3 files, of course).

Finally, check the proper installment of the writer/burner etc. in the computer setup. It must connect to the IDE port, modern computers do this automatically and signal you in case of conflicts. Check a proper communication between the hardware (Bios) and te (plug-and-play) operating system; sometimes manufacturers manually switch this of.

Make sure you install the proper driver version (i.e. not a windows 3.11 driver on a Win98 machine).

If all this dos not work, you probably bought a lemon and you should return it to the shop!

Note: If you are not experienced with hardware, you should refrain from opening your computer and leave the trouble to the resellers.
Good luck

Can you create cds WITHOUT a cd-r drive (burner)?

Does anyone know if you can create cds without a burner. I have heard you can after getting your files to wave but I have never been told how. Is it true?
Please email me if anyone knows. Thanks

: Does anyone know if you can create cds without a burner. I have heard you can after getting your files to wave but I have never been told how. Is it true?

Well, the short answer is no. You need a CD-R or RW drive to create a CD. You can extract all the data you wish *from* a CD to store on your PC and manipulate, but a CD burner is requisite for CD creation. Actually in more exact terms, on the larger scales, CDs aren't burnt, but in fact pressed. These CDs are created alongside many others of identical data for large scale production though and the machines which carry this out are very expensive and owned by large companies. So the answer is that, no you can't create a CD without a burner unless you are megarich.

Re: Can you create cds WITHOUT a cd-r drive (burner)?

Adaptec's Easy CD Creator, for example, let's you
create an IMAGE FILE of a CD. It's not a CD, but it's one big
file that can be burned onto a CD. Eventually you
need the CD burner though. Or... if you're computer
has a soundcard that has a digital output... you can
play the WAV files out the digital output and record
into another computer or a minidisc recorder or a DAT recorder,
or an AUDIO only CD recorder like they sell at Best Buy.

Probably, you'd want to just make the CD as normal, though...
cause the CD itself is a lot more portable.

If you want to send the files... you could upload them as WAV's or MP3's
on a web page that you're friends can click on, but that's probably not worth all of the
time, even though it wouldn't really be so hard.

Don't forget...
The U.S. POSTAL SERVICE still exists!

3" CD recording

Am attempting to record 1.1 min. of sound to a 3" CD w/5 min capacity, believe the problem to be in finalizing the disk,
-manufacturer has been doing so for three years,
-distributor will gladly refund money but, claims has not had this problem before,
-all three recoding sofware programs fail (Riosoft, Sound Forge, CeQuadrat) usualy with a hang, sometimes freezing.
-Compaq claims if hardware can hold disk (it can), it can write to it.
I record audio and data to full size CD’s fine. It is mprtant to me I figure this out. They are intended as voice demos. I expect to throw money at some issue here but, cannot just toss it around.
