Try Waver. You can pick up a limited freeware edition for 30 days. Or you can get the real deal for good for $25. Go to http://waver.htmlplanet.com/ It's a really great program.

Hi, Centinel!

I just saw your question about converting .wav to mp3. I use MP3
Compressor, but I am learning too, so I haven't yet got it right.

But it is a good program, and here's a link to it:

Good Luck! :-)

Ensoniq cards sound great and are cheap!

TurtleBeach are awesome and more expensive.

I have heard support is marginal for Ensoniq and I know support is
lame for Turtle Beach. If you've technical know-how maybe this won't be
an issue. Regards.

Hi.
I wrote some soundcard tips on this page, go up to see my reply on "Soundblaster 64 Gold vs. Sound blaster Live!".

Check out www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Pit/7362/vgakills.txt for a long post regarding

How to record onto PC from home stereo?

How do I get the sound from my home stereo onto my PC? Ideally I would like to be able to go straight from a 4 or 8 track to my PC so I can put it on CD.

:A stereo lead is most likely required. Take the signal from the headphone socket on your stereo and plug it into your PC. If you don't have SoundForge or anyother such recording program use the microsoft sound recorder (found in Accessories)Set your sound card up to record from the line in on your PC set the levels so they don't distort and push the little red button.

windows based Denon CD player

i'm looking for a program that will imitate a Denon
or simular cd player. I have two cd-rom drives
and wish to mix with them including altering pitch contol. I have a Sound Blaster 16 card, will
this be able to handle the processing power from two
cd drives.

i have tried CDumper from GMIXON.COM but this seems to
be quite buggy and will only play certain cd's.

Your help would be appriciated.

If you have a fairly robust computer (big hard drive, lots of ram, Pentium processor)
you might consider recording direct to disk. If you get or have a full duplex sound card,
you can use a program like Cakewalk ProAudio and record midi and audio with good timing.
If this interests you, I'm sure there are demos here. Hope this is helpful.

record midi to wave

can anyone tell me how to covert midi to wave? when I record on microsft recorder it is hardly audible.
thanks

Re: record midi to wave

: can anyone tell me how to covert midi to wave? when I record on microsft recorder it is hardly audible.

You can convert midi file info to a .wav format. However there are some problems.
There are several programs that do this. They are called midi to wav renderers. I have recently purchased
Wavmaker from Polyhedric software. It works great but you will not here the midi file exactly as you recorded it,
because you use the general midi samples that come with the program. There is a companion program that you can purchase
that allows you to create your own samples/sounds. Now you're getting in pretty deep. It all works it depends on
how far into this you want to get.
Go to www.polyhedric.com or get it here(I think).
Hope this helps you out.

Re: record midi to wave

Great advice so far on the issue! But there is an article on the site devoted to MIDI to WAV and vice versa. It's called 'A quick primer on converting WAV to MIDI and vice versa' and you'll find it in our tutorial section.

Cheers

Help with Mac digital audio

I'm new to digital audio, and I need some quick help with the following two questions:

1) How do I capture analog audio from cassette into digital format using my PowerMac 7600 (it has a built-in digitizing board)?
2) How do I make minor edits to the audio, and then mix different songs together, fading them in and out like a DJ does?

Thanks... sorry for the bonehead questions, but I'm still learning...

Parallel or Midi Port Programming

Is it possible to make your own electronic drums by using
triggers that are connected to either the parallel or midi
port? I would like to be able to make some electronic drums
for sound effects, using the pc and wav files, to go along
with my acoustic drum set. Has anyone heard of such a program
or know where I can get any information on this?

Thanks in advance.

Iron,

I imagine that this ought to be quite complicated. I play the drums myself
and I did some MIDI programming in C and C++, but to build the hardware from
scratch is a thing I'd not try, as simple synth drum modules (Yamaha, e.g.) are
cheap. I'd suggest the following: get you a cheap keyboard (Casio, etc.) and
take it apart. Try to close a key's contact, e.g. middle C, by your Hi-Hat
machine. If that works, I'd ask in some technological discussion forum how to
trigger other keys by hitting the drum heads (air pressure inside the drums?).

For programming topics, I'd like to lead you to

Use WinAmp, options, preferences click on the audioI/O tab, choose OUT_DISK.DLL
under output plug-ins then push configure and define a folder on your HD.
Play the mp3 in winamp no sound will be heard in your speakers.
Now you vill have the mp3 converted to a wav file in the folder you choosen.
Use EasyCD Creator as usual and the wav file ends up as a cda file on the CD.

I have found only one place that I can get a software that burns from mp3 to cda format....there is a free trial and I tried it and it works very well and fast...to buy it is 19.95 which isn't bad. I am going to get it because it really burns quickly and easy on any cd burner. After it burned I looked at the cd and it was in cda format. Amazing! Love it! Check it out. Just go to this url: https://secure.element5.com/shareit/product.html?productid=141990&sessionid=43144188&random=dd6d221c69fc35ff7ae8c081ff53866d
just copy this url and put it in your address area of your browser....hope you find it..it is great!
