Re: Roland U-220 Manual needed

: : I have a U-20, U-220 and only the instruction manual for the U-20.
: Does any know of where I may be able to get a manual for the U-220? Or perhaps a way to use the U-20 manual for the U-220? I have tried Roland and they do not seem to speak any language except new items and that means dollars and alot of lost time.

*******

Sorry I'm a new user and looking for a U-20 manual, can you tell me where I can get a hold of one or download one. Thanks. I will check around for a U-220

did you ask roland yet?

Making drum beats using soundforge Acid

Can someone explain to me the most efficient way
of making good drum beats!

I've tried many programs, but most just simply sound
really really bad, others are unprogrammable.

please help!

-Eric

Re: Making drum beats using soundforge Acid

use fruity loops 3.0

you can sequence anything and it hooks up to midi compatible keyboards. and the program is still very good without any. get it.

Re: Making drum beats using soundforge Acid

hammerhead (free)
steinberg b.box (about $30)
drumstation (?)
rebirth (about $180)

all these progs work with a step-sequencer. I
think that's the best way to program a groovy
beat. buyaka... ;)

CD Recording

Does anyone know how to record MP3's to a CD burner without the CD burner knowing how long the song is? I am trying to add about 100 MP3's to a CD because it is less than 600 Meg for all the songs but the software I have says it can only record up to 74 min. Is there any software I can download that will let me copy by MB size and not by Length of Time?

Reply: I think your two options are to copy the mp.3 files to your CD in which case you could only play them on a system with a juke box, or you can convert them to .wav files in which case only 74 minutes of music will fit on a CD because the 5 megabyte mp.3 file becomes a 35 megabyte .wav file when it is decompressed.

Re: CD Recording

all depends on which software you are using. on some software, if you drop mp3 files into an audio session it will automatically convert those files back to pcm wav format and will only accept 74 or 80 minutes.
if you are just storing the mp3 files then you must store them on the cd as "data" not audio.
on average you can store about 180 mp3 files to a 650 meg cd. you do of course realise that you cannot put mp3 files onto a cd as audio and play them in a normal cd player. it just ain't gonna happen....

SOUNDFONT SPLITTERS...?

Is there anyone who knows what software could help me to 'split' SFonts greater than 8mb so I could load them into my 8mb RAM into my AWE?
I can share with you other shareware programs: please ask and stay in touch...

Portable CD won't play audio CDs I've written

I have made compilations of my fave audio CDs onto all kinds of brands of blank CD media, and none will play on my portable Sanyo player, though they do on my midi Cd system.
Is it a question of the dye colour, or something more fundamental?
Thanks
Peter

Re: Portable CD won't play audio CDs I've written

Since you have aparantly gotten further than I have maybe you could answer me this one question

How did you convert mp3's or wav into cda format.

If you have a software program I would greatly appreciate it if you would send it to me. Or let me know the name of it so I could find it.

Thank You

Re: Portable CD won't play audio CDs I've written

I had the same problem with the first three portables that I bought;
two Koss and one Aiwa units. They wouldn't play
any of my burns. I bought them all at a store
that had a sixty day return policy so that's what
I did. I now have a Sony model 456CK that plays
everything I put in it, including the same disks
that wouldn't play in the first three. I think the
main problem is player quality; that the laser
in some are not as strong as my Sony, for instance.
I know this doesn't solve your problem but it may
at least answer your question.

If you can, try these same disks in other brands.

Re: Portable CD won't play audio CDs I've written

Was your Sony player able to play CD-RW cds? I know that CDRW cds are thicker than CD-R cds and only some brands can play these cds.

Thanks.

Re: Portable CD won't play audio CDs I've written

maybe you didn't finish the cd when burning?
" your cd-player strictly doesn't read burned
audio-cds or you used cheap blanks.

I have the same prob with my cd-rom drive, it
accepts and reads only some blank-types.

greets,
sniffa

Re: Portable CD won't play audio CDs I've written

the colour of the dye also is a factor, for audio
the best cd's are the ones with a silver dye,
the laser doesn't seem to pick up the cd very well
with other dyes.

CakeWalk 6.0 Problems

Hi To you nice stranger..

I have encountered problems with using audio+midi
together, no matter if I record it or just play, there is no pattern to it, it just stops.
I tryied replacing soundcards (I use SBLive now)
fixed IRQ probs, installed the software several times
and in different locations, basically everything I could think of.

If you have a minute and a good Idea please help.

Thanks for your time, and if you ever encounter problems with walking your dog just email me. :-)

Assaf.

thanks a million...ann

Re: CakeWalk 6.0 Problems

So, I gather from your message that timing is your main problem...syncing audio to midi?
Have you fiddled with the timing button, located next to transport button (play and record). Sorry if this is too obvious. Try contacting Cakewalk support at www.cakewalk.com or try cakewalk newsgroups too. Good luck.

how to convert ts404-files to wave

How or with what can i convert ts404 files to wave

Re: how to convert ts404-files to wave

: How or with what can i convert ts404 files to wave

First, stream your pattern to .RAW. Then convert from .raw to .wav with WaveBatch.

Re: how to convert ts404-files to wave

your a cunt, YA CUNT

Re: what are TS404-files?

ts404-files are made for FruityLoops.
You can only use and render to WAV with
that prog. (Click link below)

raw.files

How or wich soundprograms for converting raw.files into
wave.files?

Re: raw.files

most wave-editors are able to handle raw-files.
but 'cause raw-files don't have specifications
you'll have to try with several programs. just
look around here at hitsquad, you'll find
something. (audio processing)

The Best Soundcard in the world

Hi all

I was given a AWE-32 Soundblaster card with on-board 8MB and it's the bomb. Even technical told me that it's the best soundcard money can buy.
I'd like other people views on this please, as I am debating whether to upgrade to The New Shogun 128-bit Matrix SoundCore Pro, which is used in Recording Studio Technology at Sony, can anyone confirm this?

PLAY PERCUSSIONS ON LINE

If you have the Flash4 plug-in and if you like tablas and percussions...come 'n enjoy on the "Shiva contest".
It's a lot of fun ;)

low volume mic input

I've got an ESS sound card in my Compaq and am trying to make some demos of my songs. I have the best mic that RadioShack sells -- not much -- and have it plugged into "line in". When I record a vocal using Power Tracks, I can barely hear it. Even when I go in and edit the WAV file, boosting its gain, I can still barely hear it over the other tracks. The quality is not that bad, considering. I"ve tried using the Mixer to boost its volume and lower the others but it doesn't seem to do much. Anyone have any other thoughts for a newby? Thanks!

connect to MIC in

to record a microphone it must be pre-amplified.
therefore your soundcard should have a special
mic-input.
otherwise you won't get good results.

greets,
sniffa

I agree but Re: connect to MIC in

I agree that you need to plug in to the mic in but do not expect to get good quality sound from the card. The preamplifiers on these multimedia soundcards is pretty bad. I suggest you invest, at minimum, in a small mixer such as a Folio Notepad and/or get a different card. The Ensoniq AudioPCI is not too bad for cheap cards and I am reviewing it on my site http://www.pcrecording.com this week towards the end. It can be had for about $25.00 american. Make a visit and let me know what you think.

Anyone know of a way to record mic to wav while playing backing?

I'm a guitarist, and I want to record background,
and then overdub the lead guitar (mic input). I
need to be able to play a pre-recorded track, WHILE
recording the lead guitar, and then recombine the
lead with the backing. Are there any programs I can
download? I have a pentium 200 MMX, with Win95.
Thanx in advance.

depends on your soundcard

you'll need a soundcard that supports playback
while recording. (e.g. emagic audiowerk 2)

which one do you have?

sniffa

Well it fails the "full duplex test" from both Internet Audio Mix and
N-track. Not looking good. :( Full duplex my arse. *grumble*

Anyway, guess I'm off to buy a new soundcard.
Thanks sniffa.

Check out www.pcrecording.comRe: depends on your soundcard

Before you go and buy a card please check my new site http://www.pcrecording.com. There is a page dedicated to soundcards and a link to a table with a large number of selected soundcard manufacturers that includes essential technical stuff and links directly to their respective websites. Virtually all multimedia soundcards anymore are full-duplex capable. The sound quality remains in question for the cheaper cards however.

I also have a review of the N-track Studio software on the site. Check it out if you want.

Er.. dam. It's an Eagle ES1868.

It says it is full-duplex monophonic mode, half-duplex stereo mode.

Can I still playback & record simultaneously in mono?

Wavelab vs. Red Roaster

The burner I buy will depend on which CD mastering software I decide on. One comes
with Red Roaster(Sek'd) and the other comes with no software, but i would buy
Wavlab(Steinberg) and the price would be equal. Please compare in the following:
1) ease of use
2) audio editing features
3) expansion/plug-in support
Thanks,
