Re: Boss Dr-5 drum machine

: Is it true that while running a guitar through a dr-5 you can only play one note at a time?? so no power chords!!??

yes you can only play one note at a time you also cant play any bends and hamerons pulloffs etc.
the best you can probably manage is bass styled riffs.

softsynth

Who knows a softsynth where I can use my own WAV.samples
as MIDI-instruments? I'd like to use this softsynth
while playing MIDI-music in Cakewalk.

Re: softsynth

: Who knows a softsynth where I can use my own WAV.samples

Sounds like what you need is a sampler. The essential function of a sampler is to play user defined samples (wav files) trigerred by midi. You can look into softsamplers like gigasampler. Also some soundcards have the ability to act as a sampler: You can load samples into the cards RAM so they can be played via midi. I think there are many other softwares that can do somehting like this.

any questions email me.

CD Burner to record 2000 to 2500 wavs

ok I should have said this in the first place I need a program to record like 2500 wavs to a disk most of the programs Ive used say this is too much, I wanted to make a sound effects cd for mixing. Is there a program that I can use to accomplish this?

Re: CD Burner to record 2000 to 2500 wavs

It depends on the size of the wav files... a standard CD can only hold 650 Megs.. if the total size of these wav files is greater, it won't work.

If you are trying to burn them in audio format, ... same thing applies.. and I don't know if a cd can have that many uadio tracks...

Roland VS-1880 24-bit Digital Studio Workstation

I'm very new to audio equipment...just wondered if anyone could help.

a relative of mine just purchased a Roland VS-1880 24-bit Digital Studio Workstation, we can save his works on a ZIP disk which can be read on the pc platform. The odd part is the file format is *.vr5, probably a Roland equipment only format. My question is there any converter for this format, or software that would recognize this format on the PC. I'd like to be able to work on his music in Sound Forge, Acid or some other program. Any information you could give would be great. If there is another way that you can think of that may help too.

Thanks,
-Brian

Hi
Your best choice to to purchase a scsi card for you computer so you cna connect the VS-1880 to you personnal computer that the way I tranfer information to my logic sound software.
Good luck

Re: Roland VS-1880 24-bit Digital Studio Workstation

No, there is not converter, the only way to get a roland vs-1880 and a computer to talk is to install a digital in/out card in the computer (fiber optics) and run fiber optics in and out of the vs-1880 to the computer.

Re: Roland VS

This is not possible according to Roland. If you load the Zip into your computer, the PC/MAC Os will adjust the FAT (file allocation...) of the file which will more than likely make the file no longer playable by the VS. You have been warned!!!!

The best way in that case is to master it to a CD and load it in that way or to obtain a digital link (or analogue input) to the computer and master it in as a Wav/Aiff file.

Cheers

how to burn LOTS of wavs.

I need a program to burn lots of wavs to a CD (to make a sound effects CD for mixing) I was wondering what program to use and where to get it.

Re: how to burn LOTS of wavs.

Hi there,

First of all, you'll find a heap of Burning software here: http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/CD_BURNERS/.

One popular program is Nero.

roland mt200 files conversion to standard midi files

It would be really useful to me if I could convert sequencer files done on a Roland MT 200 to Standard Midi Files. Does any one know of a software package that would do the job?

Re: roland mt200 files conversion to standard midi files

I've Got the Conversion Software! (from rsc/rsd to smf)
It came with a Roland developer's kit I was given, years ago.
It's a little archaic... it only operates in dos-mode. However, it works.
I'd be happy to email it to anyone who wants it...

Re: roland mt200 files conversion to standard midi files

Hi,

I need the software as I am doing some voluntary work for my church. Would you email me to enable me to do the conversion? Thanks.

Regards,
Alvin

Obviously, you use your MT 200 quite a bit. We're just getting into our's after owning it for years. I'd like to help you with a boot disk but I don't remember getting one. I had someone tell me that we could play Roland files with a standard, freeware Midi Sequencer. Have you done this?

My question for you concerns moving a diskette to a PC and back. We recorded songs into the MT 200, then saved them to diskette. I took the diskette to my PC and then back to the MT 200. I just played from the diskette on my PC; didn't write to the diskette. Once, we put the diskette back into the MT 200 it said our diskette was "Improper Disk". Have you or any of your fridends had success moving diskettes back and forth between the MT 200 and PC's?

tx, Mike

No Sound MIDI sound with external keyboard

Need help. I am trying to use Soundblaster Live Card with a keyboard connect to the joystick port of the card. But I cannot get any sound when I try to use the keyboard.

Re: No Sound MIDI sound with external keyboard

The most obvious possibility:
In your sequencer software, you have to set the midi port to 'external'. You must have a choice of 'SB Live' + 'external' Look under options or preferences or midi port setup.

Mac Mods with fries please.

Where can I find Rebirth Mods for the Mac. I've tried downloading from the Propellarheads site, but I just get a screen full of weird shit and text stuff. Is this right? Surely not. What should I expect to get when I download on. Maybe someone could just send me a load. Would be most thankful thank you.
