convert roland svq files to wav files

anyone who knows how to convert roland xp50 svq files to wav files. you are godsend!

Re: convert roland svq files to wav files

ME TOO please, anyone who has a program to convert them from svq to .wav or to .midi on your computer it would be very nice. Thanks!

Re: convert roland svq files to wav files

To emulate SVQ format in midi you need to save the song in Midi format on the XP50. You'll also need to save your Sounds.

Midi doesn't recognise some of the commands that for example tell your Roland device what parts to have in what performance group.

This is why there needs to be an extra attachment of commands exclusive to your instrument and hence we call this System Exclusive (SYSEX).

As for converting to WAV well this isn't possible to do as a simple conversion in my knowledge.

You need to use the output from the XP50 directly plugged into your soundcard's input and then Windows Sound recorder is possible as good as any softward for a basic WAV conversion.

For extra refinement a hardware mixer may well do the trick.

Hope this has been helpful

WMA Vs MP3

I know this is probably basic to y'all but...

WHy bother with WMA - aside from size, does it have any redeeming features? Anyone reading this actually choose it over MP3? And what is RM format (am i gimping it here?)
If anyone would care to enlighten me, the Gods of technology will no longer demand sacrifice from your HD

Re: WMA Vs MP3

I won't offer my oppinion, but check out this review/test

Re: WMA Vs MP3

The size makes a huge difference. With full CD quality at 64kbps compared to 196kbps, .wma files are three times smaller. RM is real player format.

Re: WMA Vs MP3

: Wma has much greater quality if you run a
64bit WMA agianst A 128bit MP3 . WMA format will
sound perfectly crisp comparred to the faded
128bit MP3

: : Wma has much greater quality if you run a

Yes, but MP3 files recorded at 75% VBR are about the same size as a 160K MP3, and the sound is far better than any WMA file. WMA doesn't support VBR.

If disk space is a concern, I agree with everyone that WMA is the way to go.

64-bit WMA has some slight distortions, but I agree the sound quality on par with 128-bit MP3 to the human ear.

It appears that "The Empire" has been up to more than just Windows 2000 lately. Last week thay released a new version of their Windows Media encoder (v4.1) that sports a new set of codecs (WMA v2), and it appears that the folks over at Real aren't the ONLY ones that have something to lose some shuteye over. Right from the git-go, MS makes it clear that MP3 is now on their radar screen. The 4.1 version's new codec set appears to easily beat Real and MP3 at similar low-speed bitrates AND it offers nearly IDENTICAL sound quality to 128kbps MP3 at HALF the bitrate (64kbps)! I have created several Windows Media 64kbps files and compared them to like MP3s at 128k--and MS isn't bluffing. The most significant difference was the file size!
Even more surprising was the new 36kbps stereo codec designed for live internet audio streaming. I noticed only a small reduction in frequency response with some minimal artifacts at the high end. Amazingly, this codec offers audio quality equal to (or better than) many FM radio stations, and you can easily catch it with a 56k modem!

While WMA and MP3 are even at 128kbps rates (and above), significant--and even huge differences in audio quality appear at the lower bitrates:

WMA vs MP3 (both at 128k): NO DIFFERENCE--They both sound good.

WMA vs MP3 (both at 64k): Very noticable high freqency improvement with WMA

WMA (36k) vs MP3 (32k): 'Like switching from FM stereo to AM (in stereo)--YUCK!

WMA (64k) vs MP3 (128k): I'm sure many brains will burn during the debates over this one, but I found both to be about equal--EXCEPT WMA used HALF the disk space!

WMA (36k) vs MP3 (64k): SLIGHT nod to WMA (more defined highs, but slightly more artifacts), and think of the bandwidth cost savings if you stream on the net!

Incidently, MS has REMOVED MP3 support from this version...HUMMM?

Re: WMA Vs MP3

Ok I hear the arguement at low rates and the quality is the same at 128kbps. But if I am ripping my CDs to disk what is my best quality. I ripped to MP3 at 320kbps, Windows Media Player offers 192kbps as it's maximum and best quality. So which is better WMA at 192 or MP3 at 320?

Help, as I do not want to rip any more music until I know what the best is.

Thanks for the expert advice in advance

Voice removal

I need a program that removes voice altogether for songs.
Do you know any that do, if so please send me an email

Re: Voice removal

As far as I know, you are a few years ahead of current technology - we just havent figured out a way of doing yet - but I would love to stand corrected if anyone else out there can tell me I'm wrong

Re: Voice removal

Few years ahead? This existed 20 years ago.
Its all about phase reversal in a certain frequency range.

The best one Ive heard is the winamp plugin from AnalogX. They also have a DirectX plugin.

15 yr old suddenly...

Parents of 15-year-old find $71,000 cash hidden in his closet

Does this headline look familiar? Of course it does. You most
likely have just seen this story recently featured on a major
nightly news program (USA).

His mother was cleaning and putting laundry away when she came
across a large brown paper bag that was suspiciously buried
beneath some clothes and a skateboard in the back of her
15-year-old son's closet. Nothing could have prepared her for the
shock she got when she opened the bag and found it was full of
cash. Five dollar bills, twenties, fifties and hundreds- all
neatly rubber-banded in labeled piles. "My first thought was that
he had robbed a bank", says the 41-year-old woman, "There was over
$71,000 dollars in that bag- that's more than my husband earns in
a year".

The woman immediately called her husband at the car-dealership
where he worked to tell him what she'd discovered. He came home
right away and they drove together to the boy's school and picked
him up. Little did they suspect that where the money came from
was more shocking than actually finding it in the closet.

As it turns out, the boy had been sending out via E-mail on the
Internet a type of 'chain-letter' to E-mail addresses that he
obtained off of the Internet. Everyday after school for the past
2 months, he had been doing this right on his computer in his
bedroom.

"I just got the E-mail one day and I figured what the heck, I put
my name on it like the instructions said and I started sending it
out", says the clever 15-year-old.

The E-mail letter listed 3 addresses and contained instructions to
send one $10 dollar bill to the person at the top of the list, then
delete that address and move the other 2 addresses up, and finally
to add your name to the bottom of the list. The letter goes on to
state that you would receive several thousand dollars in five
dollar bills within 2 weeks if you sent out the letter with your
name at the bottom of the 3-address list "I get junk E-mail all
the time, and I really didn't think it was gonna work", the boy
continues.

Within the first few days of sending out the E-mail, the Post
Office Box that his parents had gotten him for his video-game
magazine subscriptions began to fill up with not magazines, but
envelopes containing $5 dollar bills. "about a week later I rode
[my bike] down to the post office and my box had 1 magazine and
about 300 envelopes stuffed in it. There was also a yellow slip
that said I had to go up to the [post office] counter- I thought I
was in trouble or something (laughs)". He goes on, "I went up to
the counter and they had a whole box of more mail for me. I had
to ride back home and empty out my backpack 'cause I couldn't
carry it all".

Over the next few weeks, the boy continued sending out the E-mail.
"The money just kept coming in and I just kept sorting it and
stashing it in the closet, I barely had time for my homework". He
had also been riding his bike to several of the area's banks and
exchanging the $5 bills for twenties, fifties and hundreds. "I
didn't want the banks to get suspicious so I kept riding to
different banks with like five thousand at a time in my backpack.
I would usually tell the lady at the bank counter that my dad had
sent me in [to exchange the money] and he was outside waiting for
me. One time the lady gave me a really strange look and told me
that she wouldn't be able to do it for me and my dad would have to
come in and do it, but I just rode to the next bank down the
street (laughs)."

Surprisingly, the boy didn't have any reason to be afraid. The
reporting news team examined and investigated the so-called
'chain-letter' the boy was sending out and found that it wasn't a
chain-letter at all. In fact, it was completely legal according
to US Postal and Lottery Laws, Title 18, Section 1302 and 1341, or
Title 18, Section 3005 in the US code, also in the code of federal
regulations, Volume 16, Sections 255 and 436, which state a
product or service must be exchanged for money received.

Every five dollar bill that he received contained a little note
that read, "Please add me to your mailing list". This simple note
made the letter legal because he was exchanging a service (adding
the purchasers name to his mailing list) for a five dollar fee.

Here is the letter that the 15-year-old was sending out by E-mail,
you can do the exact same thing he was doing, simply by following
the instructions in this letter-
--------------------------------------------
Easy Money for just only one $10.00 bill and one stamp !!!!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
What have you got to lose?

BY READING THIS YOU COULD CHANGE YOUR ENTIRE LIFE FOREVER!!!
[now you will find $10.00 bills in your mailbox !!!!!
(not $1 bills)]

! $250,550.00 in 5 weeks!!!!!!!!!

I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it.A little
while back,
I was browsing through newsgroups and came across an article
similar to this that said:
You could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an
initial investment of one $10.00 bill!!!!
So I thought, "Yeah right, this must be a scam",
but Like most of us,
I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway,
it said that you send only
one $10.00 bill to the first adresse in the liste below
You then place your name and address in the bottom of the
list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups.
(There are thousands)
No catch, that was it.
So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first,
I thought about trying it. I figured: "what have I got to lose
except only one stamp (not six) and only one $10.00 bill (fund),
right?"
Then I invested the measly $10.00 .

Well !!.GUESS WHAT.. within 7 days,
I started getting money in the mail?
I was shocked? I figured it would end soon, but the money just
kept
coming in. In my first week, I made about $250.00.
By the end of the second
week I had made a total of over $1,000.00!
In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing.
This is now my fourth week and I have
made a total of just over $242,000.00 and it's still coming in
rapidly.
It's certainly worth a $10.00 usd bill, and only one stamp,
I have spent more than that on the lottery!!

Let me tell you how this works and most importantly,
why it works...
Also, make sure you PRINT a copy of this article NOW,
so you can get the
information off of it as you need it.
I promise you that if you follow the

directions exactly, that you will start making more money that
you thought possible by doing something so easy!

Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully!
(print it out or download it to your hard disk.)
Follow the simple directions and watch the money come in!
It's easy. It's legal. And, your investment is only one $10.00
bill (plus postage, only one stamp (not 6 , so the global cost
will be more less then 6 letter with $1 in each , but the amount
of money you win will be much more...
and your wealth will be all made with thousands of
$10.00 bills ...... not $1 bills as other programs).

IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not indecent;
it is not illegal;
and it is virtually no risk - it really works!!!
If all of the following instructions are adhered to,
you will receive
extraordinary dividends.
PLEASE NOTE: Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $250,000
or more can be yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains
successful because of the honesty and integrity of the
participants.
Please continue its success by carefully adhering to the
instructions.
You will now become part of the Mail Order business.
In this business your product is not solid and tangible,
it's a service.
You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists.
Many large corporations are happy to pay big
bucks for quality lists.
However, the money made from the mailing lists
is secondary to the income which is made from people like you and
me asking to be included in that list.

Here are the 4 easy steps to success:
STEP 1: Get a piece of paper or a postcard and write the following
on it
"PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST." , your name and address
Now get one $10.00 bill and place it into a dark paper(opaque)
so the bill will not be seen through the envelope
(to prevent thievery) .
Next, place the paper or the postcard and the dark paper with the
$10.00
bill in it into the envelope and seal it
( please seal it very well).
What you are doing is creating a service.
This is absolutely legal? You are requesting a legitimate service
and you are paying for it! Like most of us I was a little
skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all.
So I checked it out with the
Government.
Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed
legal!
Mail the envelope to the first addresse in the list below:
(you send $10 bill to the first name only )

1.) Emily Parker
34 John Miller St,
Ryde
NSW, Australia
2112

2.) Patrick O'Dowd
29 Newton Court,
Grange,Douglas,
Cork,Ireland.

3.) John Grimston
19 Church Avenue,
Off Roman Street,
Cork,Ireland. .

4.) Phil Leese
77 Kingwilliam Street,
Tunstall,
Stoke On Trent,
Staffs,England.

5.) Nicklas Karlsson
Ramsj Backe 50
740 30 Bjrklinge
Sweden

6.) B Nolen
38 Pennslyvania Ave
Asheville NC 28806 USA

7.) Charles H Miller
13 College Court
Salina,Ks 67401

STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above,
move the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc. ...)
and add YOUR name as number 6 on the list.
STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article
as close to the original as possible. Now, post your amended
article to at least 200 newsgroups.
(I think there are close to 24,000 groups.) All you need is
200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make!
This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts,
refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 & 1241 of the Postal lottery laws.
Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and,
whenever you need money,
you can use it again, and again.
PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because of
the
honesty
and integrity of the participants and by their carefully adhering
to the directions.
Look at it this way, if you are of integrity, the program will
continue and the money that so many others have received will come
your way,too.

NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to you,
either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send
you. This VERIFIES
that you are truly providing a service.
(Also, it might be a good idea to wrap the $10 bill in dark paper
to reduce the risk of mail theft.you can send a postcard with the
dark paper and use a thick envelope)

Your name will move up the list geometrically so that when your
name reached the #1 position you will be receiving thousands of
dollars in CASH!!!
What an opportunity for only $10.00 only one bill

Send it now, add your own name to the list and you're in business!

---DIRECTIONS----FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS------------------

STEP 1: You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your
own posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this
letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this document,
and select 'copy' from the edit menu.
This will copy the entire letter into the computer's memory.
If you are having trouble then start by clicking your cursor on
the beginning of this letter while continuing to hold down the
click button of your cursor.
As you do this drag the cursor "all the way down to the bar"
and past if need be at the bottom of your viewing screen.
Try it and you'll see .

STEP 2: Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your cursor at the
top of the blank page.
From the 'edit' menu select 'PASTE'. This will paste a
copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to
the bottom of the list and to change the numbers of the list.

STEP 3: Save your new notepad file as a '.txt' file.
If you want to do your postings in different settings,
you'll always have this file to go back to.

STEP 4: Use multiple search engines like
www.dogpile.com/ or www.metafind.com/ to search for various usenet
newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites,
discussions).
If you are having trouble finding any then go on and try
www.reference.com/
or www.liszt.com/ or www.forumone.com/ as examples to look in.
You may also wish to tell future readers from around the world
that they can read this letter in another language if they visit
http://babelfish.altavista.com/cgi-bin/translate or by going to
www.altavista.com/ and clicking on "AV Tools & Gadgets"
and then click on "AV Translation Service".

STEP 5: Visit these message boards and newsgroups and post this
article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter
and selecting 'PASTE' from the edit menu.
Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that
everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a
particular group, click the post message button. You're done with
your first one! Congratulations... That is it! All you have to do
is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the
hang of it,
it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup!
** REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN,
THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!!
BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That is it!
You will begin receiving money form around the world within days!
You may eventually want to rent a P.O. Box due to the large amount
of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous,
you can invent a name to use,
as long as the postman will deliver it.
**JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.**

Now the WHY part:
.Out of 200 postings, every letter whill be seen by hundreds of
people but say that only 5 whill participate (a very low example).

So then your name whill be posted :
by 5 people at the #5 position
(if every one send 200 posting will refer 5 persones )
your name will be posted by
(5*5) = 25 people at the #4 position
(25*5) = 125 people at the #3 position
(125*5) = 625 people at the #2 position
(625*5) = 3125 people at the #1 position
When your name reaches the first position in a few days,
it will be your turn to collect your $10.00 bills
Now you will receive mooooooooney!!!!!!!

and if still 5 persons per 200 react, your name will be out of the
listed by
3125 * 5 = 15625 persons every one will send to you a $10.00 bill
so you will get 15625 envelopes * $10 = $156,250.00 !!!!!

( 10 times more than other $1 programs whith
the same number of letters in your mailbox).
AMAZING !!!!!!

$156,250.00!! With an investment of only $10.00! AMAZING!

**You may want to save this page to your' hard drive for future
use.
The More Times You Re-start THIS group, with your' name added last
send $ 10.00 to the first address and start posting again
- everyone listed in THIS group is also started over.
This is why this program is better than others - it never
stops!!!!

The thing to remeber is: do you realize that thousands of people
all over the world are joining the internet and reading these
articles everyday?
JUST LIKE YOU are now!!
So, can you afford a $10.00 bill and see if it really works??
I think so...
People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends
you the money?
So what! What are the chances of that Happening when there are
tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the
internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try?
Anyway,
it is only $10.00 for a chance at thousands.
Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day,
with thousands of those joining the actual internet.
Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really work.
You wouldn't want someone to cheat you the same way you may be
cheating!
Yours sincerely,

This is not the place for Spam mail

We are serious musicians here and way too intelligent to fall for this outrageously unlikely con - unlike the dozey unfortunates who reply to this sort of rubbish.

Bugger Off.

READ THIS PEOPLE

What you fail to realize is that many many people have tried that over the years and got nothing therefore we all know that it wont work... There is a famous German company run by a 'private plane' owning german who has managed to conquer the timing necessary for him and his associates to get all the cash. He had a pound from everyone of my excited family members and we all quietly forgot about it. Nothing obviously turned up as promised. Seen it done since at work and watched them all fill the pockets of the rich conmen too.

Want to impress me? show me the proof of the story and the proof that the other people that the money was coming from also made the amount of money you claim we will get. I know you can't so, slip off into the night before someone that has been conned before gets angry.... It's impossible for ALL the people playing to win $250,000 considering that everyone is putting in $10, the maths clearly don't add up. It WILL work for a few on the well timed list but you will most definately NOT be one of them. Learn, remember and pass it on...

BTW. About 6 years ago, it was £1 a go. Now it's $10....!! that's inflation for you.... Greedy bastards

Re: I need a wav converter A.S.A.P.

A ) Winamp has a built in MP3 to wav convertor

B ) MP3's downloaded from napster can be treated like any other file on your computer, moved, deleted, copied, etc..
you have to put the MP3's into winamp, you will find the directory the are stored in by opening napster, and going into settings, and seeing which directory they go to

Hi I have a 1040st and I am using it for recording music with the creator program. It will stop working after awhile, the mouse will not work and I will have to boot up again to get it to work again. I have replaced the poewr supply already and it has greatly inproved the number of time it locks up, but still some times it still locks up. Do you have any idea what is wrong with it? thanks Roe

I looked up stuff on MPeg 2.5 but can't find out for sure what it is.
if it's Mpeg 2 layer 2 (I think ), then it's AAC, and winamp has a convertor built in to convert to wav, however, you might need an AAC plugin. also, if it has more than 2 channels, you may need to remix it.
if it is just Mpeg 1 layer 3 (MP3) then you can convert it with the same method, but use the regular MP3 decoder (nitrane)

Re: mpeg 2.5

the suggestions were good.. although this format is not supported by the decoders you recommended.. it is neither a mp1 nor an mp2..
I have tried many decoders and am still yet to find one that supports it..
Infact only one so far has recognised that it is an mpeg 2.5 and reports the error that this program doesnt support it..

harmony

With all the music writing software out there, some of which will score a whole band accompaniment around a simple melody complete with percussion, is there a software that will provide 3-part harmony given a melody with guitar chords?
