some time ago I put all my CD's into a big folder to save space because I have a small house and sold all the jewel cases I had, one of them had the cd key for cakewalk professional v.8. This was not the only key I didnt hold onto. Because of a hard drive problem I had to replace the drive and all the programs on it.
Without the CD key I am dead in the water,not I know it was a stupid thing to do (my wife has told me many times over)so if anyone can help me out it would be great.

If you registered the software with Cakewalk, either by purchasing online or
sending in regsitration after purchasing in a physical store, they should still
have your details. Contact them with this issue.

I need help to mix my music

I have napster,a cd writer, but I want to find a freeware program to download just so I can get rid of the gap between each song I am putting on my cd's, and something than can mix from one song straight into the next. Is there such thing, and an easy program that I can follow and understand.

I use Adaptec Jam which can do all of that.... You can select delays and crossfades and get some very interesting blends from one song to the next or just simple 3 second gaps...

There exists software that will convert MP3 directly to CD Audio -

<a href="/smm/programs/MP3_CD_Maker/">MP3 CD Maker</a>, and
<a href="/smm/programs/AudioCDMP3Studio/">AudioCD MP3 Studio 2000</a>.

You need a CD Writer ofcourse to burn the CD-R.

of this song anywhere. So I'd like to strip it and record

Yes, any or most audio recording/sequencing software such as Emagic prologic or Cakewalk pro8 or 9 and possibly any Wave edit progs should have a "time stretch" feature for speeding up or slowing down audio or .wav files. They are all pretty costly programs though, so if its only the one file you are looking to slow down, the best thing to do is find someone with an audio prog to do it for you.

Soundblaster PCI 64V problems

I have loaded Jammer version 4 music program but no music comes through my speakers ! The LED lights on the panel are playing to indicate that the program "thinks" it is playing music bit nothing actually plays.

I can play music CD's without any problem.

Any suggestions?

I've head the same prob, but the only solution was the the right driver, cause the shop gave me the drivers for model PCI 64, and i 've had the PCI 64V+. But the drivers for this version are the very hardly founded, cause it is a card which isn't so massively used than PCI64.
Try to search,but i didnt found any on inet. I went back to shop and there they give me the right drivers. Try if your comp during instalation wants the file like es1370.vxd or so on. If so, you've got a PCI64V+. God with you.

Quick AND easy? Depends on what equipment you already
have. If you have the appropriate cable connection for
stereo to souncard, then all you need is some decent recording
software, a CD Writer and CD Burning software.

First, try muting any channels that are not being used, I.E line-in or microphone.

if that doens't do it, then try moving the card to a slot further from teh power supply. it shouldn't be another card, unless it has a transformer on it, but none usually do have them.

may I suggest you lock the bird in the kitchen and record the sample again?

If you want to 'cut' it out you can use 'Sampled' available from www.sonicspot.com (under 'audio editors' . It's a VERY nice, accurate freeware audio editor - yes free!

I have recently bought a Yamaha SW1000XG and wish to use it alongside my Soundblaster Live which I use for its Soundfont capabilities. Is there a way in which I can utilise the effects capabilities of the Yamaha on the soundfont tracks from the Soundblaster? I am using Cakewalk 8.

Do you want to convert MP3 to CDA or do you really want to burn MP3s to CD so you can listen to them on a CD Player?

Theres a few programs out there, very few quality ones that can do it that are for free though. Theres one I purchased called the MP3 CD Maker (you'll find it on any search engine under 'convert mp3 cda') at http://www.zy2000.com/. Thus far, its been a most excellent program, but a little pricey for what it does ($29.95). Like I said though, theres a couple freeware/shareware out there, just gotta look for 'em.
