Cd Copying that removes voice

Does anyone know if there is software avaiable to remove vocals from songs?

Re: Cd Copying that removes voice

AnalogX Vocal Remover -
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/vremover.htm
get it.

Anyone knows this plugin and where to find it?

Hi all -
a year ago I happened to be with at a place where there was a Cakewalk installed for music-composing.
One fantastic midi-plugin that was used made the following:

Now normally every midisequencer can reverse a midifile to play it backwards.
This plugin could also mirror the midi vertically
not only horisontally.

This was only one of the many many features in this plugin, I seem to remember there was also a lot of
harmonising effects, but what mainly stayed in my memory was the ability to mirror the midi vertically.

Does anyone have a clue which plugin this is and wher can find it?

Thankyou on forehand.

Gunnar

Real Player G2

Your website states that "Real Player G2" can be
downloaded. Yet when I tried to download, I
was told it couldn't be found. Strange!

Comments? Really, if you don't "stock" it anymore,
it would be better to admit this.

D.

Your better off...

Your better off mailing that to the website themselves rather than here as we wouldn't care anyway... Get it from the real website, it's best...

mp3 encoder

WHO can send me a MP3 encoder?????

Why would anyone bother...?

Why would anyone bother when they all took the time to look at the massive file area on this board that allows you to download loads of them. Open your eyes and you will see... ;->

Cubase Questions

Sir:
I purchased Cubase 3.0 for my Atari computer almost ten years ago. Since then,
I have gone over to a PC. I found a copy of Cubase Score + dongle, but I cannot
seem to get it to play back through my MIDI instrument. It also runs very slow.
Trying to upgrade, I wrote Steinberg, but all they would do for me was offer me a
$1000 upgrade, even if I traded both my other versions in. Thanks!
I really love to use Cubase, as its real-time quantize feature makes it the best, but
I still have this trouble. On the Atari, it is superb, but I must use my 12" hi-res
monitor which stinks. Any suggestions?
Sincerely,
PC

Can't help but

Can't help you, sorry, but just to say, I used to use Cubase 3.0 on the Atari too, still have it. I did the same thing as you but got a Macintosh. I had the same problem with Steinberg, proving there is no respect for their older customers then... <sigh>

Good luck

remove instrumrnts from wave file

I am looking for software that will remove an instrument from a wave file. There is software out there that will do this but the sound quality isn't very good. It will remove guitar from a track leaving the backing instrument, or the reverse. Anyone know of anything besides Decomposer?

Don't believe it.

I wouldn't waste your time. It doesn't work and that's that...

Steve...

Re: Don't believe it.

what do you have to do to remove all the instruments except for vocals from a track? i.e., to be able to use just the vocals in a remix or something?

matt.

Karaoke

The Karaoke process attempts to remove the vocals by cancelling out the center of the stereo field where the vocals usually reside. The furthur out towards left and right, the more material remains. Sometimes, the effect is quite impressive but you can usually hear the stereo reverb on the vocals still and the whole tone of the song is messed up. There are programs to do this on this board, check the file area.

Reversing the process and leaving just the vocals therefore must be possible although I lost interest with the very poor success rate. Have an ask around or you may be better off trying the programs and see if that's offered as a feature.

Cheers

Steve

What should I use?

I am in the process of trying to create my own music and I stumbled onto this site. My question is "Does this site offer programs that will allow me to sample music, mix it the way I want and add vocals, if so what program would that be?"

Multitrack Midi Audio...

A Multitrack program like Cubase, Logic Audio or Cakewalk (don't bother with the Macintosh version of cake... it's pants). They will allow you to have individual tracks giving independant control of things like volume and pan and allow you to add effects and edit playback positions in Midi and Audio, etc etc etc... They can be expensive and you should try before you buy. Have a look in the file area of this website, I think there is a demo of cubase, maybe cakewalk and logic. If you use a Macintosh, Logic Audio is quite a favourite ;->

Getting Cubase VST running

I am having a problem recording anything using Cubase
VST. I have a Korg X5 keyboard plugged into my soundcard
at the back on my PC but i am unable to record anything.
I also seem to have a problem recording off CD's using
the windows sound recorder. Could this be a related problem?
I would really appreciate any feedback on this matter.

QY70 midi to printmusic, only one channel

Hi

I have a QY70. I have created midi files and then transfered them into
printmusic. However the package does not translate the tracks into separate
staves. It works fine with midi files done on cakewalk but not when I've
altered the same files on the QY and then put them back into the computer.

Can you help me with this? What midi message does Printmusic need to
understand to transalate the midi file into separate tracks?

Thanks

Phil Chaundy

Mp3 to GIF convertor

Hi, it seems to be a crazy question , but some web site in geocity has all its MP3 songs converted into GIF just for faster upload and Download, can someone help me finding the site where i can get the software which does this conversion

Thanks in advance

Re: Mp3 to GIF convertor

They probably just changed the extension, or compressed it wiht winzip.. try putting teh file into winzip, if it says it's a valid file, and has the MP3 in it, then extract it, otherwise, drop it into winamp, nd it shoudl plaay. if you want, you can change the extension from GIF to MP3

Re: Mp3 to GIF convertor

It not possible to make an MP3 a GIF. GIF is a compression format for graphics and MP3 a compression format for audio thus you can't make audio graphics

Does mp3=only music?

I have a few questions. I know next to nothing about mp3 file format so maybe these are dumb questions.
How long of an audio segment can be formatted to mp3? Are relatively short songs the only efficient use for mp3? I'm interested because I want to somehow "digitilize" a few lecture tapes. The problem is they're up to 60 minutes long each. Talk about an enormous file! But if I had a monster hardrive and an mp3 recorder would this be practical or would CD burning be better? How about minidisc?
I need a permanent high capicity storage solution to save these tapes!

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Geoff

Re: Does mp3=only music?

You can convert any length audio to MP3 as long as you have the hard drive space.
You could put it to MP3 but your best bet would be to burn them to CD.
Minidisk is the best option as you could take it to your lectures and record them straight to mini disk

how to convert wav file to Mp3 file OR a way to compress a wa

We have a very large wav that we would like to place on our web site. So by converting it that will make it smaller. Now the ??. With what software & where can it be found??

Re: how to convert wav file to Mp3 file OR a way to compress

I use MusicMatch Jukebox (which is a free download), or Cool Edit 2000, which allows me to edit the wav before converting to mp3. Yeah right!
It's pretty cool.

CD-RW Software Not Recognizing CD Burner

I have a program 'Clean Plus' for Burning CD's and it doesn't work with my burner-HP CD Writer Plus 9100 Series. I was wondering if anybody knew how to configure my system to read my burner in this program. It works fine for Adaptec software and Feurio, but the prog I REALLY need doesn't run properly. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I don't know where the Nero is located!

Hello,
I have downloaded the Nero, but I don't know where it is located, so I can't install. If you know where it is in the computer, please e-mail me. I very apreaciate your time.

Thank You!

Re: I don't know where the Nero is located!

When you download the program a window should appear asking you to save the file. Have a look at which directory it shows and thats were it should be.

rmx

How do i convert rmx to wav + mp3 i would appreciate if someone could tell me how or where to get utility that could convert rmx to wav or mp3

Thank You inadvance.

RNX/RMX

Take a look at your "RMX" file.. I have seen RNX for realplayer.. maybe it's for a different version.. anyways, if you will notice the filesize, it's probably really small.
drop it in notepad. is it just text? look sorta like a URL? it's simply a link to a song..
SO, in itself, it can not be "converted"
however, if you get totalrecorder, it will record it, or any other audio event occuring in your computer.

Re: RNX/RMX

.rmx files I've seen are Real Media Encrypted files. Did you record them from CD in RealJukebox? If so, as far as I know there is no way to convert them short of using something like TotalRecorder or Virtual Audio Cable (both of which allow you to take the output of one audio program (like RealJukebox playing an .rmx song) and shunt it into another sound recording program (like any program that will record .wav files and encode .mp3 files)

rhythm back up programs

can anyone tell me: are there any programs out there like band in a box that will create bass lines, drums, etc. without midi or instrument inputs? Thanks

Re: rhythm back up programs

Yes. Jammer is one.

sound card

does anyone know where to get a sound card for a mac g4 i cant find one anywhere? please respond asap thanks

What sort of sound card?

There are many Sound cards that you can use on the Mac, don't you have a high tech music shop near you? E-magic Audiowerk cards are excellent Audio-Digital interface cards. If you want a sound card for making noises then you could go for something like the Yamaha XG1000 right up to the amazing Creamware products...

You need to find a proper music shop that deals in Computers for music and get a few recommendations from them...

Cheers

software

We are soon to be in new corporate offices, I am VP Marketing, looking for complete setup for recording studio. Will be used for recording on-hold messages for 39 locations, commercials, etc. only.
Two person studio. Do you have anything like this in a software package?
Thank you

Re: software

This is a complicated question for which you didn't really supply enough information. What's your budget is the first question, because you can go out and buy a digital audio workstation completely configured... it just takes money. Or you can buy a hard disk recording workstation, no PC needed at all. OR you can build your own on a suitable PC. The real question underlying all this is, I think, if you don't know enough to know where to go to get the hardware/software, do you know enough to do the recording correctly? I'm really not trying to bust your chops; it's just that I've been struggling and learning digital recording for a couple of years now and I'm still a veritable babe in the woods.

If you're just recording voice, you can probably get by with any reasonably up-to-date PC or MAC you have around; just add a CD burner for transfer to your advertising targets. If your messages/commercials are under one minute you can even use Windows' built-in recorder.

If you want to record music/voice-over/soundfx, you better have someone there who knows what they're doing, if you want to hit the ground running, or you should probably just farm out the commercial work. (You have 39 locations but don't have a pr/ad company to create commercials?)

I hope this helped, although on reading over it I doubt it :-) Feel free to contact me in email for clarification.

Daniel
