:thanks Tony Í have VSampler...it seems cool imports my AKAI cds (though not as well as giga). but I have a delay when playing from my keyboard...and from cubase for that matter. I thought there would be less delay as it is integrated. I don't know if this is something to do with my ASIO or DirectX or something, have you tried this sampler?

Emagic's site has a few useful manuals in pdf format that deal with some of Logic's functions. However to get the full platinum manual you would no doubt have to apply directly to Emagic for a copy. Didn't you get one when you bought the program? If, like me, you are still trying out the demo, then the full manual is something we'll get when we buy it, I suppose!

Emulation and buffers

I not sure but check u are not using an 'emulated' sound module like Yamaha SY-XG50 or a Roland as these take about 500ms to process sound. Use soundcard sounds instead. Also reduce audio buffers in Rebirth to a min. You may beable to INCREASE audio buffers in Cubase to bring in into sync with the delayed drums but don't quote me on that!

I would like to ask someone for help who has Sibelius version 1.3. I have 4 Finale 2000 files that need to be transfered into Sibelius file format, and Sibelius 1.3 can do that. I would greatly appreciate any help!

I'm new to the music software game, but know what I want to find- a program that will take my existing recordings from analog tape (this is no problem), convert to notation- and let me add in other instruments (pre-recorded sounds already on software- no actual playing the instruments)- to the existing music. For example- I have a song with guitar , bass & drums- I want software that will create harmonies and double the original music with saxophone, strings, etc...to my liking. Any ideas?

Burning CD's from vinal-mac-if you know help please

I would like to record some old albums on CD. My computer is an Imac DV G3(fire wire) My drive is plexwriter 8/4/32A from Lacie. They gave me Adaptec Toast 4.1 with the drive. My output is the headphone jack from a old all in one stereo sytem. I/m going in through the mic plug in. i ed up with to loud an input on one software, and one with a sound meter won't let me change the speed wich I have to guess at any wys.. I do need to use a free program. At least for now. know I'm cheap but thats how it is for now.Any help would be much appricited. Thanks for your time and expertice!

I must confess I found some of your message hard to read due to some unusual words that might be typos or otherwise.

I think what you are trying to do is quite straight forward and you seem to have some software that can handle the job of recording an .aif from the audio input on the iMac. I think the problem you have is that you are recording from a headphone output of an all in on stereo. This is NOT line level and is does NOT have a fixed output level. I would therefore personally not use it for the purpose as it has the option of damaging the input on your iMac.

After saying that, as a young man, I have often recorded things from headphone outputs into line level inputs and never actually broken anything. Maybe i've just been lucky... the choice is yours.

Obviously, the level is varied by adjusting the volume control of the all in one stereo, therefore if you MUST use it, I would start with the volume at zero and bring it up whilst monitoring the input into the Mac until the level is desirable, don't overdo it. I wouldn't be suprised if the quality is not as it should be and you may get some colouration and/or distortion on the final Wave file.

just plug the out from the MD into your mic socket on PC and press 'record' in any relevant program. This could be MS sound recorder or a freeware sequencer or an 'audio editor' - take your pick. The file created from this recording will be a .wav file - easily burned. For better transfere quality u can use a digital lead (if u have a digital input on PC ofcourse).

what is your serial and name you used for the serial?

the program only needs to be registered once and it retains this info as a file on the PC maybe through your upgrade? Check if fruity is fully functioning??

I downloaded 2 mp3 files from napster and converted to wav. I tried to copy to cdr and the error message says that it can't be converted to cd quality. What is my problem?????

bit rate anomoly?

could be a 'bit rate' problem? All mp3s are coded at a certain bit rate which is selectable by user. So maybe your burner program only works with the standard bit rate of 128bits? Try another program or find an audio editor which will convert say a 98bit mp3 to a 128bit (or whatever your program works with) Or only download songs with correct bit rate - 128 is good quality.

I downloaded Voodoo and for some reason no sound is coming out of my speakers! I've tried pretty much everything, but I must be missing something! Any solutions? I'm dying to make my own tracks!! Also, is there any other program that you can suggest which would be good for creating drum and bass? Thanks!

The only 'free' CD Burning software you might get is the program included with your
CD Writer, and chances are it is not suited to the process you require.

The following programs are NOT Freeware, but most are less
than $30US registration/purchase price. This is not alot to pay for the quality that

I'd suggest you have a look round the software section of this site and if that confuses you try www.sonicspot.com for a user friendly data base - 'Notation'. Actually just about ANY midi sequencer will allow u to edit notation etc so take your pick!

Is there a way to copy an audio CD without having to sample it? My software seems happy to go from CDA to WAV and back to CDA, but this is not going to be an EXACT copy of the CDA data is it?

I've just found out that CDA files don't actually exist on an Audio CD. Windows 'makes up' a CDA file for every track on the CD. Also there are no 'files' on an Audio CD, just bits of data.

So my question now is how do I copy these bits exactly without sampling? Maybe SPDIF output on my CD-ROM and SPDIF input on my soundard....???

A PROBLEM WITH CUBASE

Every time I try to select the pencil on cubase VST 3.7 I get a message which says "Fatal error" and two boxes to click on "Close" or "ignore" but my screen freezes and I have to turn my P.C off losing any songs Ive composed.Please HELP!!!

sounds like u could have some sort of software 'conflict'! Try uninstalling the program + deleting any Cubase files not removed - then reinstall and hope for the best! Sometimes files can become corrupted or overwritten when new software is installed and these sort of faults then occur I believe.

Hotburn error...please help!

After listing audio tracks, Hotburn comes up with "Buffer under-run during write operation" and the computet just locks up to the extent I have to use the reset button. Even Ctrl-Alt-Del won't get things going again!
