How to rip LPs into Mp3s

Could somebody educate me?
I have a turntable, receiver (no phonostage or preamp)
120 Mhz NEC PC with 32 MB Ram and 650 MB free HD space.
is my system adequate and what do I need to be able to rip LP tracks into mp3 files? What software, what connectors, etc. Will appreciate your help!

Re: How to rip LPs into Mp3s

Hi Peter,

You probably need to connect the turntable to a stereo amp first. Then you need to take the RCA stereo output from the amp and connect it to the line-input on your computer sound card via an 1/8" miniplug. You'll then need some audio recording software to record and save your data as a WAV file. Then the WAV file needs to be converted to MP3. There are some programs that do this process directly. Take a look at www.musicmatch.com. That may do the trick.

Best,
Scott

Identify Rock Song From Partial Lyrics

Can you identify the rock song which is currently played on rock stations with the following partial lyrics?

I don't need to be mindless
I don't need to be another lost soul who can't find love

Although the lyrics don't match exactly, the song your might be talking about is Godless by U.P.O., from their album "No Pleasantries."

The actual lyrics to the final chorus go like this:

I don't need to be godless, but I am
and I don't need to be another lost soul who can't find home,
and I don't need your hand on the gun,
and I don't need to say I'm godless anymore

Fruity Loops And Fruity Tracks

Would it be best for me to just make my whole song in Fruity Loops Using The Playlist? Or would it be easier to just put all my loops and stuff into Fruity Tracks? Thanks

Re: Fruity Loops And Fruity Tracks

Hi

It really depends on the complexity of the song. I use the playlist, but when I'm really looking to do stuff I also use ACID.

Cheers
Geoff

Phonogram connection to sound card

Can anyone suggest the best way to connect a phonogram to a soundcard? Since it has a very low input I assume it cannot work with the "line in" input.

Re: Phonogram connection to sound card

Hi Mack,

Do you have a stereo amp that you can connect the turntable to? If so, that would be the best way to do it. Then you could take the output from the amp and connect that to the line-in on your sound card.

Best,
Scott

Quality of digital playback

I operate Winamp at the local RocknRoll club but find flaws in the tracks which when played back are OK!!
Where is the fault? in the files or the Winamp software.
Is there a good software package available which does not do this. We can't have the music skip beats when members are competing in competitions.

Re: Quality of digital playback

Kelvin, what file format are you playing? CDs, MP3...?

CASMATE 6.52

Could anybody please tell me how to make CASMATE accept Chinese word input.

Re: CASMATE 6.52

: currently i'm using the old version 3.51. I would like to upgrade to the latest version 6.52. I like to know can the 3.51 version do 3-D works?
Or only the 6.52 version can do? If we like to order the 6.52 version, can casmate make a arrangement for me.
My company was in Malaysia, all this years we been using the 3.51 doing only 2-D works. Kindly feed back or give a quotation for the casmate 6.52.

Thank You

your sincerely,

Douglas Lim

R&B/ Pop

Hello. I wanted to know If i can use fruity loops to make r&b or pop music instead of just techno and stuff.Like i was thinking that maybe i can make different parts, like guitar or other instruments and make some drum Loops and then put them together in Fruity Tracks. Does anyone think i should do this? i allready have tons of samples. Thanx

Re: R&B/ Pop

: Fruityloops is a versatile program and you can create ANY style of music with it, not just dance/techno etc. All it requires is a little imagination. You can have solo's as well as loops by recording your solo,e.g. guitar and NOT selecting "Cut itself", so in effect you are using fruityloops to "trigger" different parts of your song. The ONLY limit is your imagination: I personally use Fruityloops for all styles of music, even if it is only backing tracks sometimes. Fruitytracks however is a pretty limited program.. I wouldn't bother with it...
So go to it my friend, and CREATE NOT REPLICATE!

Fruity Loops

Hi everyone :). I was wondering if i can do more than just make loops in Fruity Loops. i mean, Like different parts of songs (please help, im a newbie). Like in songs you dont just hear loops come together. You here different parts of instruments and stuff, like during the chorus or in the beginning of the song. Please help me and let me know if i should go with fruity loops for doing this. Thanks!

Re: Fruity Loops

: Okay, so we were all newbies once, but that is no excuse for not bothering to read the HELP files and just expecting others to tell you what would be obvious with a minimum of effort! Now the lecture is over, Yes you can do more than make loops, you can create entire songs of any length by USING THE PLAYLIST! You can then use the export function to save as .wav or .mp3 files

Cleaning up wav files....help

Ever since ive gotten my new car system, when ever i record mp3s to wav format and then burn them to cd, i hear this scratching noise on some tracks. I use music match and was wondering what could cause this? when bands recored in a studio and put out a record there is no scratching...etc. I tried to use noise reduction programs, but they did not work at all. So basically im wondering if there is a program that can do what i want, remove that stupid noise, or if there is something better then music match to get clearer sounding wav files. Also, would getting a program that converts mp3s to wav and puts them on a cd automatically be better then converting mp3 to wav then burning them onto a cd player via, a program such as easy cd creator.

any help would be appreciated....thanks

Re: Cleaning up wav files....help

Hi Mate.
the best thing for doing audio cd is clean the cds first and if you have goldwave alway add the 2 seconds at the beginning and end of the wavs.

if you are still stuff just mail me,
