Re: How do I convert mp3 to wave files

First: Create a folder where you want to store your wave files.
Open WINAMP.
Right-click on the WINAMP name at top of the window.
Scroll to Options, Click Preferences.
Scroll to Plug-ins, Click Output.
Click Nullsoft Disc Writer Plug-in.
Click Configure button below.
Browse to find the folder you created to store your Wave files.
Click OK.
When you "play" your MP3 files with WINAMP you will hear no sound but the file will quickly be converted to Wave and placed in your specified folder.
To return WINAMP to normal play. go back to Plug-ins > Output & click on Nullsoft wave-out plug-in.
Click OK>

Re: How do I convert mp3 to wave files

AnalogX has software. (www.analogx.com)
and somebody said that there was a built-in output-to-wav option in Winamp, but I can't find it.

drum software

hi, i'm downloading a lot of drum sinthetizers, but all be for create techno, or be samplers, i want create rock songs, can you tell me which is te best?

Re: drum software

Instead of synthesizers (that produce there own sounds), get drum SEQUENCERS (you can load your own samples.
Then just load up a set of samples from real kick and snare drums, etc.

Audiomulch has a built in easy-to-use drum sequencer, and you can probably convert the old acous1&2.sf2 drum font to wav files if you have a converter. I did. The soundfont used to be availalbe on this website, and Audiomulch is.

I you are using Cubase VST Version 3.7 or above, fxpansion (@ fxpansion.com) has some MIDI-controlled drum machines that you just load your own samples into.

I'm in the same situation, but looking for bass software.
I use a program called 'Drums!'. It's non-techno.
Very good.

A good bass sequencing program?

Does anybody know of a good bass program that can
create standard rock bass lines? In .wav format?

Re: A good bass sequencing program?

RubberDuck is one place to start. It's more for electronicheads but you can tweak the sounds quite well.

VQF Files

Has anyone heard anything good about VQF Files?
Apparently you get higher compression than MP3.
www.vqf.com
haven't tried it out yet myself though.
Anyone have any experiences with it?

I've tried it and it doesn't work well if several instruments are playing at the same time cause they can't be seperated. It only picks up different frequencies so it messes up the whole arrangement. The drum parts were turned into unrecognizable noise. I've searched the entire web for a good program and read articles written by experts explaining that it's not possible to seperate different instruments (yet).

real media audio clips

i use a software program called realjukebox to record audio onto my hard drive. i use a program called adaptec to record onto cdr's. the format on my audio files copied from cd's onto my hard drive is rmj, or real media audio clips. when i attempt to record onto a cd, i receive a message that the files are not recognizable to the cd writer. i have been looking for a converter but have not had any success. is anyone familiar with this problem ?? can anyone suggest or direct me to something that may help ?? i would appreciate any help you might offer. thanks, don

Re: real media audio clips

You have to use wav files when burning a CD, I don't think Realjukebox supports that though.

Try a standard CD Ripper like Audiocatalyst, or there are free ones available, look in the software section.

want to make wav or real files on mac

All I want is to record on my cheesy little Mac microphone and make a little WAV file I can put on my www page. How hard can this be? You have a page full of software links. Some of them don't download ; others don't run. Nothing was able to do this simple job. Very frustrating.

N364 Sequencer help

Somebody please help me before I throw the damned thing
out of the window. I just purchased a Korg N364. I can
not for the life of me understand the manual regarding
recording tracks. I used to own an M1 and I know it
wasn't that hard to understand. On the M1 I was able
to record a drum track and loop it for the length of
a song. It was a pretty straight forward procedure.
The manual mentions function key numbers but does not
give you a clear example of what is required to get
to that particular function. Who wrote this thing, lawyers?
WhatI am asking here is does anyone know how to use the
N364 sequencer and if so could you give me a quick
run through...

Re: N364 Sequencer help

Hi,
I belond to a site devoted to the Korg NX64 synths, and there is a lot of valuable info at it's sites.

Here are the links:

Acid Pro ..... MUSIC LOOPS

I use Sonic Foundry's program ACID PRO. I was wondering if any one else uses this programs and wants to trade loops, or if maybe they know of a web site to download loops. Anyone who doesn't use this program and reads this should check into it!

: I recently gor a copy of ACID Music 2.0, in which I have mainly pop( techno, dance,hip-hop, etc.) and rock loops. I am very interested in classic jazz loops, such as drums with brushes, upright bass, Hammond B3 loops, BossaNova and samba, horns and etc. I am willing to exchange any of the loops that I have, as long as they they are the once you are looking for.

What is the best software for sheet music printing?

There are so many in the midi sequencer page, and
I don't have time to test them out on by one.
It'd be very helpful if anyone can give me some
suggestions/comments. Thanks.

If it's plain printing and publishing then you should have a look at Music Publisher. NOT midi based (midi knows all about sounds, nothing about notation) - it is comparable to a word-processor for music: it writes what you say, where you say and never argues. It relies on your musical knowledge to get the notation right - think of it as DTP for music.

Totally flexible. The downside is that (at the moment) it does not play back to you, but if this is not a problem then it's a very serious contender indeed. Price is $120.

Download evaluation copy from www.muspub.com or just read the background featues.

Re: What is the best software for sheet music printing?

I have Sibelius, Finale 98 / 2000 and PrintMusic2000 (also from Coda). All are fine programs...for ease of use and getting it banged out, I use PrintMusic. For fussy detail work, I might drop that file into Finale. Sibelius seems to be good for getting a good start from your MIDI keyboard playing.

ADAT - JL Cooper Datasync - CubaseXT

I have an adat, JL Cooper Datasync and Running CubaseXT on a Compaq Deskpro500MHZ with 6GB + 132megRam

I have a number of compositions successfully recporded with this setup which until recently have been synchronising properly. Recently the synchronisation between the ADAT and the Sequencer is running out sync with the adat. I tried using another sequencer package Cakewalk proV3 which i used to use and that has the same problem. any advice. Is there any software that can test my midi setup and see if there are any problems with the loops or test the Sync unit or output from ADAT ?

Burning CD's

I'm trying to burn CD's onto my iMac from my DAT player using 'Toast' and running it through 'Peak' software. Unfortunately, my computer only uses USB connectors. The DAT machine has SPDIF out, but no one seems to be making a converter since Opcode went out of business. I could use the mini audio jacks built into the iMac, but they're totally unreliable and I'd lose a generation in the process because they're analog.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

John

Getting back into it - need advice

Boy do I need help.
About two and a half years ago I took time off from work and put together a musical. I had about 6 weeks to do all the music, and while I had the musical training I new absolutely NOTHING about midi, home recording, etc. I set up a home studio (Kurtzweil PC88 MX, JV1080 with orchestral and world cards, Studio 4, Mackie mixer, Panasonic DAT, monitors, PowerMac with Studio Vision Pro 3.5.4, some Sound Designer card to get stereo sound). I was lucky to have someone come out and set everything up and give me a basic orientation to Studio Vision so that I could just get to work and create the music tracks. I was doing this in a completely ROBOTIC manner - "highlight sound X, click button Y, play the notes, click button Z, etc." And I was able, in a fairly efficient way, able to get the sounds I wanted, but I didn't have a clue what I was doing and if anything went wrong I was helpless and called my friend to deal with my emergency.
Now I've got the time to get back into music, so I went back into the "home studio" to dust things off. Boy do I feel like the dumbest, most confused SOB that ever existed. All the hardware/software manuals - complete gibberish. They really seem aimed at someone who already knows everything about midi and studios.
So here are my questions:
1. I need to know what the hell I'm doing and I don't mind spending some time learning. Is there any place to get the education? Anyone doing a good job of educating people new to home recording? Do hardware/software sellers do anything or is one expected to get training elsewhere? If I had to pay for 30 or 40 hours of consulting I might just do that if it would get me up and running competently.
2. I'm sure there have been huge changes/advancements tech-wise in the past few years.
Anything I should be looking at which makes it easier for non-studio engineers to get from what's in the head to what's on the CD? I'm more interested in orchestral/choral type composition, so different types of packaged sounds/styles, groove machines, etc. aren't so appealing.
Any ideas? Bob

Re: Getting back into it - need advice

HI!!
welll i use midi and i thas how i learnt it ..
go to www.somicspot.com.. the tutorials sections and download the MIDI specifications .. if u know a bit about music and electronics .. u wont have a problem reading and undertsanding it with a bit of effort .. they also have tutorials on synthesizers and samplers where all the basics are explained ..
and well personally i think u dont need to go to a college or join some formal course for that .. u sound pretty enthusiastic /.. so just look for the tutorials and hit the, .. thas how i did it .. and im doin pretty good now .
