Re: Dart Karaoke Studio Help!

first your cd writer has to be compatible with the software. Open the software and then you start up dart cd recorder, click read tracks, select the songs you want to convert, where you want to store them on your hard drive, and click the cd&G selection on the bottom. This coverts the file to a .bin file. After you have uploaded and converted all the files to .bin files if you want to burn them to a CD click on create CD, this converts the file back to a .cda file and burns it to your CD. Hope this helps.

Professional Composer compatibility questions

I used Mark of the Unicorn's Professional Composer to edit music happily for years, but they failed to upgrade it to a 32-bit-clean version so it is incompatible with newer Macintoshes. I evaluated their current product but found it harder to use. Does anyone know a way to run Professional Composer on a Mac emulator? Does anyone know another easy-to-use but full-featured notation program that can read or convert Professional Composer files?

I too have been using Professional Composer for years and I still do. I just kept my Mac Classic - which is very slow compared to my G3- and have it hooked up to my laser printer. I've tried some other programs- which I haven't mastered, but I like Professional Composer the best.It certainly was disappointing to find it wouldn't work on my G3. Have you had any other solutions to this problem?

Sampling Software - Segregating sounds and loops from cd tracks

Hi I am looking for a piece of software which can remove everything (background noise, guitars, vocals etc.) from a piece of music i wish to sample. Preferably freeware, but shareware will do.... Or if you are even aware of a program which can do such a task i would be very appreciative of some advice...

my problem is when it comes to sampling 70s tracks for my dance music i get sounds in my samples i do not want... any ideas?

Re: Sampling Software - Segregating sounds and loops from cd tra

Its the software we're all looking for, unfortunately it doesn't exist. The closet thing you can get is the following which attempt to extract vocals.

Yo Den Vocal Remover
AnalogX Vocal Remover (DirectX)

Tab/score software

Is there any software written that can listen to a piece of music and print out the score/tab sheet.
Seems it would be a relatively easy program to write with filters to seperate the particular frequencies of the instrument. I am particularly interested in guitar tab. Basically an automatic transcription program.

My brother was able to rip a CD containing wma files and convert them to mp3 files. I only think it is possible to remove the protection by "ripping the CD" so you must have the CD. Once ripped to mp3 format, they lose their protection.

The package he used was musicmatch, jukebox 8.1, basic version available from www.musicmatch.com

Converting MP3s from one bitrate to another

I need to find a quick and easy way to convert mp3s to a lower bitrate. Is there any software/shareware out there that will allow me to do this? Thanks for your attention.

Eric

Re: Converting MP3s from one bitrate to another

There certainly is - MP3 Home Studio 'Down-sample (Convert) higher bitrate MP3s to lower bitrate, smaller MP3s for portable MP3 players'.

Recred MP3 to CD Audio

I need help here, what kind of program will allow me to burn a CD using a WAV or MP3 and convert those two formats to a CD Audio format, so that I can play them in my regular CD player.

Nero or Adaptec will do this for you.

less than 128 bitrate mp3 to wave file

When I convert a MP3 file to a Wave file with a bitrate less than 128, It converts OK,
but when I load it into the window of my CD burner program to make an audio CD, the
program gives me a message that it isn't a 16bit, stereo, 44.1khz wave file. If I tell it to
transfer it anyway, it gives it a file extension of RAW. If I go ahead and burn a CD it
sounds like the Chipmonks singing when its played. I would like to solve this problem
because I have a lot of 1920's music with a bitrate of less than 128.

Thanks, Ed

Is there software that will enable me to convert a VHS format video to digital? I am guessing that I would store the digitized version on recordable or rewritable CD and watch through some type of media player.

Is it possible to zip mp3 files?

Could any one tell me whether it is possible to zip mp3 files.
Thank you very much!

Re: Is it possible to zip mp3 files?

Yes, but the difference in file size will be negligible because the audio has already been compressed.

Cheers
Geoff

know what you mean, been there got the t.shirt.
record your own bass lines, or scour the net for bass samples/sample cd's. with sound forge you can cut, stretch or compress the fuck out of em.
add bottom end or whatever. it can be done. you can get software or hardware to emulate bass but if you experiment you'll get the same results or better with sound forge, cool edit ect.
i reckon you should experiment with compression and eq a bit more before you part with any $$£££
you'll probably surprise yourself......

Re: in need of bass, bass and BASS

You've got the software to do it but you need a good sound card and good speakers or headphones to really hear the bass. If you apply a good compressor plug-in to your bass line you'll be able to fatten it up more.

Anybody got experience with Magix Dance Maker?

Magix Dance Maker seems very simple to operate with some powerful features...can you really make pro stuff with it or is it just a beginner's program to stuff around with?

What to download

Hello everybody,
This is going to be a tough one: I am very new to this
subject but I'm trying to find one software tool that
I need to create the drum parts of music I am making.
I will expect very little of the software (each title
will be maximum 5 minutes long, and I would need some
good drums, cymbals, crash and splash samples).
I would like something simple to use, for free...

Any suggestions. Thanks a lot.

needed: simple on-screen keyboard

I'm looking for a simple application for Macintosh that will allow me to find notes on a simple on-screen piano keyboard. I don't need a full synthesizer or music composition program. The simpler the better. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
