ahem...

Id say nix the core 2.Ive heard about way too many problems with it. In its place get an egosys waveterminal. The ego sys stuff has good drivers for all audio formats on mac and pc.

the mpx 1oo is a sound choice, but if you could save for the 5oo that would be for the best.either way lexicons reverb is much better then the crap on most multi efx boxes. now, the mpx 100 isnt all that tweakable, thats what Id reccomend the mpx 500 instead.

Re: And LEXICON??

: Olà, i'd think to buy a LEXICON Core2+MPX100.
: Anyone can tell me about your test. how answer to heavy job? A/D/A ? Driver? incompatible with ?
: RELEASE? And the price? THANk\/
With Mac may not be compatible with all software. You also have to reboot to change levels which can be a pain.

music in tapes

IAM A MUSICIAN WHO IS WELL ESTABLISHED IN EAST AFRICA SINCE 1960s BUT HAVE MY MUSIC IN TAPES.
I WOULD LIKE SOME INFORMATION ON HOW TO TRANSFER THEM INTO CDs. I WOULD ALSO LIKE SOME INFO ON HOW I CAN EDIT THEM LIKE FOR INSTANCE TAKING AWAY THE TRADITIONAL PERCUSSION USED AND REPLACIN IT WITH WESTERN BEATS ETC ETC

Re: music in tapes

Hi there

You will need an audio editor such as Cool Edit 2000. Plug the tape recorder into your soundcard, press play and press record on your audio editor. I've done this to rip tapes to my hard drive and it works OK.

Then you will need to burn the songs to CD. You'll find some decent burning software here. Nero is a good burner.

As for taking away beats, it can't be done successfully without the master recordings.

Cheers
Geoff

Re: music in tapes

This is something I do a lot of. If your soundcard is a version of Soundblaster Live, you can use the included Sound Forge XP to do the recording. Then pick up a copy of Goldwave, a shareware program. Start your recording to put about three seconds of silence first, then use this tape hiss as a profile for Goldwave's noise reduction effect. It does an excellent job removing the hiss.

Please Help!

I am mostly computer illiterate so if I can get an answer to my question in layman's terms I would appreciate. I have a PC with a Pentium R
processor, the computer is at least six yrs old
and I recently downloaded FruityLoops 2.0 to the hard drive. My sound card is an early version of
SOUNDBLASTER 16, and I have had nothing but problems recording .WAV files to sample or record
at all.I also have problems playing back MIDI files on occassions. Is there something I can do without the obvious, (BUY a new computer or faster hard drive,
better sound card etc.). And if those are my options what are my BEST options? I hardly use the computer except to surf the net and RECORD
stuff from FruityLoops programs to DAT,etc.HELP!

Lyrics and guitar chord: easy transposer

I am looking for a program that will allow me to input lyrics and guitar chords. I want to be able to change the key and have the program automatically change all the chords for the new key. I think this should be a fairly simply program. Does anyone have knowledge of a freeware or shareware program that will do this. Really appreciate the advise.

Re: Lyrics and guitar chord: easy transposer

Here's a neat Windows Guitar Chord Transposer.

Re: Please Help!

It sounds like your PC may not be able to handle the demands of the program. Always check the system requirements of software you want to download.

But don't worry, there will be software that can run. I wouldn't hold your breath at running anything like ProTools however.

See if n-Track runs.

Atari Falcon Assistance

Hello,

I was hoping any of you kind people could offer me some advice...

My very basic set-up includes an Atari Falcon running Cubase 3.1, Akai S950 and a Yamaha SY22.

Could you please advise me on what hardware/software I would require to start Hard Disk recording with both MIDI and live audio (vocals etc.)

I have been advised to move to PC but am reluctant to, and have also thought of MIDI synced digital multitrackers. I would be very grateful of any help you could offer me, or any contacts or email addresses of people who may be able to assist.

Thanks very much, Atari friends please mail,

Regards, Phil Heathcock.

Re: Atari Falcon Assistance

hi i own an atari falcon and will probably never part with it.
most pc users have no concept of how the atari works and who cares! your atari falcon will need to be equiped with an external scsi drive to record and edit digital audio your internal ide drive is not fast enough to do the digital audio i can give you tips if you still own the atari falcon good luck

Check this out:
Bome s Mousekeyboard. With this thing you can use
either your mouse or computer keyboard to record MIDI. It's absolute fantastic and the best:
It's Postcard-Ware !!

If you want to link it to your sequencer, you will need Huby's Loopback Device. Available for free download at www.propellerheads.se (under Extras)

GROOVEMECHANIC is good for surface noise clicks scrathes ect from LPs. then you'll need something like NERO or ADAPTEC EASY CD CREATOR to put the music onto cd. on the hardware side you'll have to get a cdrw drive put into your computer. theres loads of software on this site you can check out..

I want to take some dance tracks and do the following ,
1. Change the tempo and slow the music down . Record this modified track .
2. Take any track and cut it to fit a time length without changing the tempo or other characteristics of the music .
3. This is for a hobby and I would like to know what is available and at what cost to do this .

reusing cd-rw after changing them for any drive

What I want to do is be able to read a cd on any drive but still be able to burn using Adaptec DirectCD.

Any suggestions??

Thanks Dan

Re: reusing cd-rw after changing them for any drive

I use Adaptec all the time. All you have to do is make sure you close the disc, and that way it will play anywhere. If you leave it open, it will only play on your computer.
