How to convert an MPA (mpeg audio) file

Can anyone tell me how or what tools to use to convert an MPA (mpeg audio) file into a WAV file?

Re: How to convert an MPA (mpeg audio) file

I guess you're talking about MP3 to WAV. There are <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/MP3/">heaps of tools</a> which can do this. <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/MP3WAVConverter/">MP3 to WAV</a> is one such program. Just try out a few and stick with the one you like.

Actually, in my Windows Media Player, I have some files that show to be "mpa" but are viewable like an MPEG. I want to change the file type to MPG. How do I do that?

Thanks,

CD labels

I'm looking for new themes & backgrounds for cd's. Easy CD maker and Neato only have a few and I would like to find some different ones that can be downloaded from the Internet (like the places you would find screensavers, and wallpaper). Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: CD labels

Have you hear of <a href="http://www.neato.com/">Neato's MediaFace</a> software? It helps you design your own Neato compliant labels. I believe it is a free download too.

songwriting software

I am a songwriter and am just getting into the computer age of mixing words and music. I was told Acid Pro was the best but does it have different programs? I need a start up, easiest program to put words down, chords behind and then add any music with the computer, and be able to mix all and download to CD, whats the most inexpensive and easiest, help.

Re: songwriting software

Hi there. When you say you want to put down words & chords, you mean record them as audio tracks?
Acid's good .. especially good if you're going to be using drum loops - it can stretch and fit lops (to a degree) to match the tempo of the song.
If you're just recording tracks that you make, eg. guitar & vocals, you can grab a free studio from www.fasoft.com - it's called N-track studio and you comes with unlimited number of audio and midi tracks ... if you want the compressor you have to pay for it .. but I'm sure you can pick one up somewhere - probably on this site somewhere ... (if you like the program please pay!) You can add effects to the tracks, then mix the song down to a single stereo wave, which you can burn to CD with your CD burning software, or make it an MP3 which you can shoot off down the net for the enjoyment and amusement of others. Hope this helps, and good luck ...

midi capture

Thanks for the input.

I'm trying to set up a SB Live Platinum 5.1 card/drive and figure out a way to capture the midi output from MusicTime deluxe. I have the cables to direct connect the output back into the sound card/drive.

Any suggestions?

Also, any suggestions on some freeware to edit wav files?

Thanks.

Eric

PC RECORDING HELP

I AM USING DATA BECKER'S MUSIC CENTER PRO RECORDING SOFTWARE,AND AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MIX DOWN TRACKS SO I CAN RECORD THEM DOWN TO CD.I HAVE READ AND RE-READ THE MANUAL OVER AND OVER,E-MAILED DATA BECKER BUT THEY KEEP GIVING ME A GENERAL ANSWER AND ARE NOT HELPING ME AT ALL.AM I THE ONLY PERSON USING THIS SOFTWARE?CAN ANYONE HELP A BEGINNER LIKE ME?PLEASE SOMEONE -WALK ME THROUGH THIS!

Re: PC RECORDING HELP

This advice only works if there are no midi elements in your song. What you need to do is read the section on exporting audio on page 33 the wave file that is created can be burned to CD.

Re: PC RECORDING HELP

Question: How do I get my MIDI tracks ready for Audio Export?

Answer: 1. You will have to re-record the MIDI file as a wav file. In Music Center Pro go to CONTROL-System Mixer Your Windows Mixer will appear. Go to Options-Properties/Adjust Volume for Recording. Click OK, Now you are in the recording control Un-mute Wave Balance, and MIDI Balance (Recording Balance should be grayed out in the mute all print) Turn up Recording, Wave, and MIDI balance to an adequate level Now back in Music Center Pro, arm a new audio track Press play on the MIDI track and you will record that with your new audio track

2. You must first mix all of the files down to one WAV so your CD Burner can pick up the WAV file. To do this Right click in the tracks field (where the horizontal and vertical lines are, and where your songs are "placed") select the box with the arrow on it. Now drag a box over all of the files, so the become selected. Not go to FILE then to EXPORT AUDIO. Save the file as a WAV, now you can burn it using the software that came with your CD Writer.

Cubasis VST & SB Live! Platinum

I'm trying to convert midi file information into audio format so I can burn onto CD for students. I've tried converting the midi into audio with Cubasis VST "Export to Audio" and then playing it back using Creative EAX player but can't hear anything!! What am I missing, if anything?

Re: Cubasis VST & SB Live! Platinum

Exporting things isn't always the best way to record the sound you want (and hear), especially when you have a SBLive card, where you can set (in the "Mixer" settings) what you wish to record from. Choose "what you hear" in the drop-down menu. While the un-rendered notations or sequences are being calculated and played for your preview and debugging, you can just hit the record button in any waveform editor (I use Cool Edit Pro, or you could use the editor that comes with the sound card), edit the waveform (cut out the empty segments), and you are ready to save to .wav and burn onto your cd. So, you aren't missing anything unless you don't have the drop-down menu at the top of your desktop for your soundcard enabled.
Also, you may have some setting wrong in the exporting function of Cubasis. Make it a .wav file.
Hope this helps. If I got your problem totally wrong, please correct me.

Please Shut UP !!

It's not fair to block up a perfectly good forum with this toss.

Re: delay time for burned CD on each track

I had converted audio tape to harddisk track by track and burn to CD
When I play back in the Audio CD system, I could search any song
I need( jump track ) but the delay time for each song to start is almost
23-25 counts. When I convert from audio tape, I record very near to the
beginning of the song (almost to 1-2 counts only).
Please advise

Re: HELP !! How 2 create MP3 CDs to Play on MP3 compatible music

It's easy. Format your CD as a data CD rather than and audio CD and copy the MP3
files to it.

Voice extractor

Hi,

I want to be able to extract the voice from a track and only retain the music. What application can do such?

Thanks

Re: Voice extractor

Hi

I have seen some programs that says it can do that.

Check on this site.
I have found one small prog called Traktor. It has lot of facilities in removing any frequency from a mp3 file.

I saw another prog called "Yogen VocalRemover" I hope I got the name correct.
But I didnt try it out.

Hope this helps.

Convert large mp3 file to single tracks

I have many albums in single mp3 files ranging from 37meg to 110 meg single files. I have tried to write one to a cd and it writes okay but only as a single track. That is, only one track shows on the play list. Therefore I cannot pick a song in the middle of the cd. I have to wait until I get to it to listen.
Is there a program that will split a large mp3 file
into the separate songs or tracks or whatever. That is converts mp3 to wavs or mp3 to separate mp3's etc or whatever.

Re: Convert large mp3 file to single tracks

Well, you could convert each mp3 file to wave into a directory in your harddisk.
Write these wave files into the CD. You will get each mp3 in each track.

Re: Convert large mp3 file to single tracks

Most audio editors will but they have to be able to handle the large file sizes.

What about:

<a href="http://www.mp3machine.com/software/MP3_Slicer/">MP3-Slicer for Windows 95/98</a>
<a href="http://www.mp3machine.com/software/MP3Cutter2/">MP3Cutter 2 for Windows 95/98</a>
<a href="http://www.mp3machine.com/software/MP3_Surgeon/">MP3 Surgeon for Windows 95/98/NT</a>

and more in the MP3Machine <a href="http://www.mp3machine.com/win/EDITORS/">Editors section</a>

downloading songs

do i need winzip or something like that to listen to downloaded songs??

thanks

Re: downloading songs

You only need WinZip if you are downloading songs with a .ZIP file name extension. These are an archive file, a compressed file.

What format are you referring to "downloaded songs"? If MP3, then get <a href="/smm/programs/Winamp/">Winamp</a>..

Please provide more information for further assistance.
