mp-3s on rio volt , no read!

Some tracks i have burned onto CD-R in mp3 formate dont read in my rio volt portable player. I am useing verbatim CD-Rs. Have also tryed TDK brand. Its always the same tracks. I recorded them useing music match ripper/burner. and my CD-R writer is a sony CD-RW CRX140E. any help?

Re: mp-3s on rio volt , no read!

I have a rio volt, i use Nero to burn the mp3's, and i use Office Depot cdr's and PNY CDRW's. I use an Imation 4x4x20x but im sure it will work on your drive.
if using nero or a different colored cd doesnt fix the problem, it may be that your mp3 files are corrupt. you may have to rip those tracks again.

music recording

I am in an accopella (probably spelt wrong) choir.
Much of what we sing is not available as a recording with the various parts highlighted.

Can I get software that somehow we plug a key board into PC and play the stuff then be able to seperate / highlight / alter each part?

is there a programme easy to use ?

would I need specific Hardware?

cd burning

i would like to burn my mp3 songs on a cd to play on a portable dvd player that can do this. does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this. i currently use easy cd creator ver. 4 ?

Re: cd burning

Does your DVD player read MP3 files or do they have to be in audio CD format (.CDA)?? If they can stay in MP3 format use EZ Creator to burn them to CD as a DATA CD, or upgrade to latest version of EZ and burn them from MP3 to audio CD formate (pretty sure ver 4 does not support direct MP3 to CD, only WAV to CD)..

How do I edit mp3s?

How do I splice tracks? Because I have some cds I converted to mp3s that have an hour long track, so I want to cut them up into smaller tracks.

Easy

Some programs in the file area of this site more than likely will allow you to edit Mp3's without uncompressing them. I personally do it by uncompressing them to a wave file (uncompressed sample) and then editing them in a standard audio editor like Peak (Mac) or Soundforge (windows). After saying that, I can import an MP3 into Peak without de-compressing it. Sound forge and others more than likely offer the same feature.

Once the track in loaded into an Audio editor, you could select the section you want to cut and then paste it into an empty audio window (select 'new') and then save them individually. You could burn them to a CD from there or covert them back to Mp3.

Sound analyser

Hello,

I am kind of new to this area. I need a simple software, which will enable me to take wave / other sound source and export it to ASCII or Excel with the pitch / loudness of the sound. I need a relatively low resolution of sampling, say, about 10 times a second.
Thanks in advance!

Burning blockbuster games

I want to record live band using my laptop, can you

help me with hardware/software suggestions. I am computer literate, but never put together an audio system. I have a Compaq 1250, 300 MHZ machine. Is it possible to record a live band performance to HD or CD-rom using the 1250? If so, what other hardware/software do I need, is there share/freeware available? I have a rack case and would like to mount most gear in case. Any help is greatly appreciated. I want to be able to go on location, record live performance and produce a cd-rom of that performance, either burning directly to CD-rom or to HD, then to CD-rom.

Re: I want to record live band using my laptop, can you

If your lap-top has a USB connection you can use the yamaha UW500 device. I´ve heard some good things about it.

USB

I tried to read some tech specs on your laptop and I think it sounds like it has USB. If this is the case then there are a lot more audio interfaces available that utilise USB than there were a couple of years ago, (one maybe).

Roland make one (UA-30 possibly), and I think it's Tascam that actually have a small portable blue mixing desk that is USB. The likelyhood is you will be recording a stereo mix from the band which should be easy for your machine. If you are trying to record many different tracks at the same time you will need a fast laptop with some serious input/output bandwidth, like the Apple G4 laptop. Firewire is standard on that machine so it can use the MOTU 19" rack mountable 18in/out interface (including the ADAT though). I doubt most if any laptops will happily process that many seperated audio tracks at the same time including the G4 although I would like to try that out...! Anyone tried that??

PC laptops have USB as the fastest bus on the whole, and therefore you will be limited to the amount of tracks you can record similtaneously. Do you need to record different tracks at the same time???

Software will depend largely on the answer to the last paragraph....

Keep us posted...!

ROLAND-ROLAND-ROLAND CONVERSION SOFTWARE

I am looking for conversion software for my Roland BR8 digital eight track recorder. File format is .vss. Need to convert for CD burning on my PC. Thanks FJ

Re: ROLAND-ROLAND-ROLAND

You could try

www.synthzone.com

although I think what you trying to do maybe impossible. Roland and other music hardware manufacturers have all sorts of crappy proprietory file formats that don't work with MacOS or Windows. It would come as no suprised to me that it is infact impossible but don't quote me on it ;0)

The thing to do is, check to see if you have a SP/DIF audio connection on your computers audio input. This is the standard digital connection through copper and is found in the shape of a single RCA/Phono connector for stereo. The Roland BR8 has an optical digital SP/DIF (why, I don't know?!?) for which a convertor can be bought to bring it to a phono connector. This way you can master directly to you computer and save as a file everything else can understand.

If your computer doesn't have digital audio in, then connect the analogue outputs from your Roland BR8 and insert them into your analogue soundcard inputs. Master the song the same way and burn it to CD.

Re: ROLAND-ROLAND-ROLAND

no there is a file convertor that you can find at download.com

internal clock/sych toolbar

I do not have the clock tab on the audio options menu...and when I try to select the synch tool bar it is greyed out. I assue it is becasue of my sound card.

What happens is when I record audi tracks they are about .5 seconds behind each other in play back. Any suggestions?

Jornada

Re: internal clock/sych toolbar

If you use a clocking device, the audio sync can't be synchronized, most secuencers (Cubase, Cakewalk, Logic Audio etc) use that info to auto repair latency, and midi to audio balance. Since you didn't tell which sequencer you use, I advice you to set sync reference to wave out. (common problem to all 3 sequencers).

Automatic Beatmixing Program for MAC

I'm a white DJ with no music mixing talents what so ever. I'm looking for a MAC program that will automatically match BPM's from my music library. I have tried some so called "auto beatmix" programs that require you to use the space bar to match BPM"s.
If you have info that would be most excellent!!
Cheers
Norman

I have heard....

That there are a few around although I can't remember any of the names other than Phrazer. I believe it got a bit slated although I have spoken to people that think it's okay. It might be by a company called Bitzheadz although don't quote me on that...!

ALL Guitar pro songs

I remember I can download all the gp songs at a time from the gp official page bu tnow I can't.

Anybody knows where can I download all the gp songs at a times rather than downloading one by one?

Re: ALL Guitar pro songs

Go to yahoo.com, type "jreva guitar" and go to that page, you won't download all the songs at once, but you can download all the songs from one band... There're also Power tab songs...

: : I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had a completely different experience than FliGuy -- I have found lots of info. and software. You all seem like a very friendly group of people who are willing to answer questions without being condescending.

Sorry for the previously blank response ... It was my first post here and I didn't realize that I was supposed to type in the same text area that contained the original message.

I guess FG is the exception that proves the rule! Oh well, at least he didn't post a get rich quick scheme.

Re: This site sucks....

There's a search page here. Or you can visit the front page of SMM here.

URGENT: NEED HELP TO LISTEN A .WRK FILE!!!

A friend of mine working with the CakeWalk Pro Audio 9 sent me a .wrk file format which I can not open with my audio programs. Does anybody know which program I need JUST to listen that sample or if there is any freeware or shareware to be able to convert it in MP3 so that I can finally listen to it???

Many thanks in advance
Sylvie

Re: URGENT: NEED HELP TO LISTEN A .WRK FILE!!!

I seem to be doing the same as you. I was trying to send a wrk. file to my bassist and he could not open it. I sent it as a wma. file (windows media audio)and he opened it on his windows media player. It should also work on real player as well. Let me know if you need more help or if it worked for you. See ya-Eddy

The Answer

The only sollution I can think of is that you download the Cakewalk SONAR demo (or Pro Audio 9, whatever. Sonar rocks!). And tell your friend to save his .wrk file as a .bun file. This is a bundled file which contain all audio and MIDI data, and is therefore pritty big.

Or just tell him to mixdown his song as a MP3-file.

Hope this could help

-Magnus

Re: URGENT: NEED HELP TO LISTEN A .WRK FILE!!!

A .wrk file can contets midi and audio data.
If this is only midi data your friend can convert it in midi (*.mid) file and send to you. But if contents audio data then download a demo from Cakewalk an hear it.

Unprofessional...

Most people consider it unprofessional to send "Application specific" files when most files can be stored in a universally accessible format. I am not familiar with cakewalk files although it might be worth checking to see if the .WRK file is in fact a little more than just audio. It maybe more or less than that. How big is the file itself??

Best thing is to ask for your friend to give you a standard uncompressed audio file format like .wav/.aif

Other than that, I would ask someone nicely on this board if they wouldn't mind loading it into cakewalk and bouncing the file to a wave file for you.

Good luck

Anybody know if there's a 'C-Lab Notator' for PC?

Turntable to PC connection-Part II-URGENT

Is there not a cable or an adapter that you can plug in the two plugs (Left and Right) and then have a mini jack on the other end to plug directly into your sound card?

If there is...what is it called and where can you get it. I've already called Circuit City, Radio Shack, and a couple of computer stores in my area.

Please help.

Re: Turntable to PC connection-Part II-URGENT

The device you're after is called an RIAA pre-amplifier. Velleman do a module for £10 here in the UK. All you need to go with it is a 10-30V PSU. Velleman can be found at http://www.velleman.be/

From here you can find the nearest dealer.

Andy

NO....

This question was answered below this thread. All I will say other than that it DON'T plug you record player directly into you computers line level input, it isn't meant to work that way and you wont like the sound...

Read my answer from before and then take that advise or Andy P's. Radioshack should have known better than not to tell you it wont work. That said, they might have the bits that will make it work. Explain to them what you want to do or just head straight for the hi-fi shop (decent one!!) and by the Phono to line level pre-amplifier.

God Bless

Goldwave RMS

The RMS default for Goldwave seems to be 2000. Can I for instance change the RMS of a file to say 3000 to match that of other new levels.
I don't know if Goldwave is set at 2000 because this is the maximum to use to avoid clipping.

There seems to be great debate as to what is the actual KPS for CD quality. What is the general consenus on this. 128kpb seems to be quoted a lot.

Since MP3 cannot be restored to original, what would be the point of changing 128kps to 160 after downloading. Wouldn't the 128kps file be stripped of any possiblity of increasing the quality to 160.

I have emailed Goldwave on serveral occasions regarding the RMS functionl but have never received a reply. I don't want to register the program until I completey understand it.

I have other questions about Goldwave as well but I'll submit those later.

Is there a Goldwave user's site besides the Goldwave home page
