Cubase problem

Hi
im having problems with cubase vst 3.7. Its jumps and slows sown when i try and play back 2 or more tracks ( made up of imported wav file) I have 192 meg ram, p400
i can see no reason why it cant handle this

anyone got a clue?

cheers

Re: Cubase problem

Maybe your HD is not fast enough or too fragmented or your sound adapter is too slow. Check th system perfomance in Cubase. I don't know if u run win95 or 98. Better solution fat32, the best ntfs

Re: Cubase problem

I had the same issue when I had Kazaa(or any other DL program) open. You may want to run Cubase without any other software open. Hope it works for you!

HOW is all i really want to know...

here's my question, why can't i download soundspinner effectively... my system meets requirements... i'm running quicktime 4.0.1 and stuffit expander... however, once downloaded (.sit) it tells me that the application program that created it is not available... it's nowhere to be found...

I snapped a cd-R into pieces

hi. this is really stupid and I don't know exactly how I did it, but I had a CD-R, I put it on my couch, then I went to get something, I came back, and without realizing it, I sat on the CD-R and it snapped, and shattered into pieces. When I picked it up the green stuff on the bottom was everywhere. Is there any chance that the green on the bottom of the CD-R could be dangerous. ie. causing cancer.

midi clock sync problems

Hi

I would appreciate a lot if somebody can help me in this problem.

I am running cakewalk 9 on a P133-32mb ram with two ide hard disks and a sound blaster live card.

The problem is the following.

I have to sync with "midi clock" a roland w-30 workstation "used as master clock" a Tascam 688 midistudio "used as slave and it works only with midi clock, not mtc", with my computer because y have to bounce some acoustic drum tracks of the 688 to the hard disk in a specific tempo to respect the measures of the song. I have separate tracks on the 688 so my idea was to bounce tracks one by one in perfect sync with the clock.
Unfortunately, about from the minute and a half of the bounce the track starts to loose the sync and the audio moves a pair of frames but it mantains the tempo but the clock of the w-30 with the midi clock of the computar are in perfect sync "I made a test bouncing an audio track from the 688 but at the same time listening to the metronome of the w-30 and the one who gets out from the software via pc speaker"

The thing I want to Know is if this problem is caused of a malfuntion of the clock of the program, the speed of my hard disc, or clock problems with the card.

If someone can help me.....THANKS.

Re: midi clock sync problems

I CAME ACROSS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A SIMILAR SET- UP.I THINK IT COULD BE A LATENCY PROBLEM ie YOUR SOUND CARD/COMPUTER IS NOT FAST ENOUGH TO STAY IN SYNC.AND PROCESS THE DATA AT THE SAME TIME. TRY PROGRAMMING A COUNT IN ON THE DRUM MACHINE AND PLAY THE SEQUENCE INTO THE COMPUTER IN REAL TIME,THEN BY USING THE COUNT IN ON THE WAVEFORM SCREEN ALIGN THE START OF THE TRACK . IT SOUNDS STRANGE BUT AT LEAST IT WORKS

Music Practice Software ie. Looper,etc.

There are a number of programs available such as Slow Gold 11 by World Wide Woodshed; Slow speed CD Transcriber 1.0 by Roni music; and CD Looper by Replay
Technologies, but they all run on Windows! Does anyone know of an equivilent software for Macs???
Thanks a bunch...John

How do I close Disk-at-Once session so I may add Interactive Enh

I wish to add a couple of digitized videos and a flash presentation in a web-interface format to a re-issue CD soon. A couple of songs have a natural segue that I do not want a 2 second gap. How may I do a "Disk-at-Once" type session with my fully re-mastered gold master CD with no added gaps between tracks and still add my multimedia content onto a second session - and THEN close the disc? I'm stumped!!!

Re: How do I close Disk-at-Once session so I may add Interactive

I'm not sure if you can accomplish your goal with a strictly disk-at-once operation without some
serious editing. If your recording software allows multi-sessions I would suggest extracting your master cd to your hard drive, then bring it into your software where you can adjust the 2 sec. gap down to 0 sec. (the program I'm familiar with will allow you to do this) Also if the "format" will allow a mixed mode recording, you should be able to then add the videos into the same area with the music and record all the material as one session while finalizing the disc. The alternative would be writing the edited music (o sec.) as a separate session (without finalizing) then writing the multimedia as a second and final session if your software has that capability. Good Luck

EFFECT PROCESSOR

I have the EFFECT PROCESSOR 2.0 , Iuse a Sound Blaster PCI 64. Is it possible to use "live input" with no latency or delay in the guitar sound. Tell me the cheaper sound card I should use to solve this problem!!

Thanks

Looper!

Hi there,

I am looking for a software that can take a small wav file and loop it to no. of BPS and clean the ends and start of the wav.

Thanks

Glenn

Re: Looper!

Soundforge will do it. So will Goldwave - there's a free demo version on this board that's totally usable (just annoys you every so often with nag windows). These are both excellent wav editors and let you play samples in a loop. If you want a purpose-built loop tool, you want Recycle. It makes editing loops total child's play. Then you can export them to your sequencing proggie.

Feel free to email me if you've got any more questions and you find nobody else is coming to your rescue.

Cheers, Havanother@hotmail.com

1 word: "tuareg" !

Howdy fellaz...

I used to do looping and editing of breakbeats
with ReCycle. But last week I have downloaded
Tuareg (by the Hammerhead drumcomputer guy) and
I think I could just as well deinstall Recycle.
Tuareg does exactly what I want and more, and
you can make loops with the build-in Drumcomputer
and edit those loops on the fly with the thing
called the "VARIATOR" editor and you can even
sequence your loops from within this baby...

I have never seen anything even close this thing,
it made me see samplers in a totally different way !

Try it out.. I think you can get it here on SMM,
but I found it on the guy's own site... errrm...
http://www.brambos.com should do the trick.

Ciao... Mikkaa

I Know little - I want to make Music

Hi there Crew - I have spent dyas looking for a site of this kind since I bought my computer just recently. I am looking to chat to someone either by mail or phone in an attempt to learn more about starting up my learning curve in electronic composition of music on my PC. If you can help me - Gee, I'd be very VERY grateful to you. I am a traditionally trained muzo and sing a lot. I love Dance and House music. I want nothing more in my life but to make my own on the computer. Please be in touch if you think you have 5 minutes to direct me in the right direction. Thank you.

Best Regards, Duncan Carey (sydney)

Re: I Know little - I want to make Music

Mate, it wasn't long ago that I was in your position - not knowing where to start, and somebody helped me out. So I'll share the knowledge. If you want to drop me an email (probably best to get a hotmail address first), I can answer some of your easy questions and put you in touch with techo musos who'll answer the hard ones. This board's pretty good (cheers Geoff) but if you want sites that specialise, I know better ones. I also noticed a lot of cries for help go unnoticed here. So email away.

havanother@hotmail.com

I guess Tuareg is the perfect start

Hi Duncan...

Why don't you go download Tuareg or Hammerhead ?
They're both by the same author and if you like
dancemusic you absolutely NEED THOSE ! And best
of all they're freeware. I think you can get
HAmmer on this site somewhere and I found Tuareg
here: www.brambos.com last night and it rox!

Hope that helps!

How to transfer downloaded midi's to an external sequencer

I play in a band that uses sequencing in approximately 30% of the music we play(as an enhancement, and occasionally to play songs that would otherwise be impossible to faithfully recreate). Since coming online I have noticed a dearth of files on the internet and if I can somehow download these files and transfer them to my sequencer(Kawaii Q-80) it would save me an awful lot of time in sequencing these particular songs. I have downloaded a free program called Midinotate, and it does a very good job of transcribing the midi's. I have spoken to a few people that told me I would have to transfer my files from the computer in real time to my sequencer, and would require a winman or special cable to do this(I just purchased a winman 2x2 today). My question is: will this product enable me to transfer the sequence, or will I still require an actual computer sequencer to pass the information to the ports? I have not opened the winman yet, as I just got home from a gig and don't feel like fiddling with it. Also, I am not very computer literate, so any help on routing the midi signal to the ports would be greatly appreciated. P.S. my sequencer does not accept standard midi files, so I can't just simply copy the file onto a disk and then put it in my sequencer(life should be that easy). Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Sincerely, Vince Wiatowski.

i need a programm to scratch mp3's

I'm searching for a programm to scratch and remix mp'3.
Like you had 2 real turntables. I heard about terminatorX but I'm using Windows. So please post an answer.

Re: i need a programm to scratch mp3's

---> Virtual Turntables, does exactly that.
http://carrot.prohosting.com is the link. It works fairly well, but needs a lot of memory, and I find it tends to skip, unless you have a lot of memory.

Re: i need a programm to scratch mp3's

Have you actually tried to scratch with VTT? It' doesn't really do it. It just lets you skip through the song and slow it down.

Do you mean stripping recordings of the vocals already on them?
