Re: direct x plug in effects

: a failry basic question really..with direct x plug in effects, how do they link up with my existing system ?[windows 98,sw1000xg and xg edit, cubase 3.5 and rebirth].

Well, i know a little DirectX plugins, they write key in WIndows Registery, for example :
each preset you save in the plugin are written in the registery,
with regedit.exe you can access to 'DirectShow' Preset in the registery and export it for saving your preset...

Help me....

Hey, I have a major question:
How do i, using HTML, insert a picture in the message I'm typing?
the message board i want to do this with doesn't have the "optional link URL, LINK TITLE, and Optional Image URL" forms!

Re: Help me....

Maybe the forum doesn't support pictures.

Entering HTML code into the message won't get it read anyways, because the section is alloacted as text only and won't be reading the code you type as code anyways.

vst plug in

Hi. Im pretty new at this, but here is my question. A friend of mine uses logic (mac) and a while back showed me a plug in that took a track (vocals in this case) and made it so the volume levels were always consistant, even tho the actual recording varied from a whisper to a yell. I cant seem to find a plug in that will do this for me. Can anyone tell me where to find this, or what its called? I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Re: vst plug in

It is called a compressor, or Dynamics.. If you get a graphic compressor, you can control it a lot more than a traditional compressor, with graphic, you can use it for noise reduction, and it is really good to have for vocals, you can De-S vocals, and use it as a noise gate, and more.

www.directxfiles.com

VST also has a really good one too.

Re: vst plug in

Do you guys use search engines?

Type in VST Compressor and see what happens.

David Brown's site will come up,
maybe Waves too.
Maybe IK Multimedia T-Racks

Probably all the compressors located in the Plug-Ins section of this page (click HOME at the top of the page)will come up.

Yes they do exist.

from midi to wav filles

i need a program to convert midi files to wav files for make a audio cd

Re: tutorials for language of sound

Kindly provide me liteature of rlanguage of sound, Digital sound, Playing MIDI files, Generation of sound in brief if possible

Re: from midi to wav filles

Sonetics.net has a program called X-Ripper. The free version will handle midi files 3 minutes in length. The $12 registered version has no limitations. The software is extremely simple to use and has worked flawlessly for me, in coverting midi to wav or (or mp3) for creating CD's. The technique is simple. Use Windows's media player to play your midi file while simultaneously recording it into X-Ripper. It's a one button process!

Re: from midi to wav filles

The one I use that gets good results is Audio Compositor (http://home.att.net/~audiocompositor/index.html). You will also need to download a sound font (Audio Compositor does not supply one, but check their links page). You will need to find and download a General Midi Sound Font. Go to www.melodymachine.com for SFArk. It's a lot of learning and figuring out, but only in the finding, downloading, and installing stage. Once you get it, it's easy to use and the sound quality is much better than the MIDI it is rendering because it uses instrument samples.

If you just want a What You Hear is What You Get, MIDI can be captured with Total Recorder (www.highcriteria.com).

Either way, if you are doing multitrack stuff, it works best for me to render the tracks one at a time; then you can take them into your wave editor program, whatever it is, and add FX, etc., to each track individually.

You can use <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Audio_Compositor/">Audio Compositor</a> - there's also a complete
tutorial called <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/163/">Rendering MIDIs with Audio Compositor</a>

*** vocoder help ***

i need some help
im trying to add a vocoder effect to one of my tracks but cant seem to do it right
the effect im after is just to tweek the vocals now and again (the way blackstreet ,dr dre and more recently cher did) when they sing a high note
all i seem to get is a very computer sounding style...
any ideas im down loading the plugin for VST at the moment and have been using the Zerius Vocoder...
thanks alot

Re: *** vocoder help ***

Try using Trashcoder. It is free and easy to use.

As well, vary what you use to modulate (carry?). Don't just use pulses; use strings too.

You can get it on this site I believe.

Or go for Orange Vocoder if you have cash

Re: *** vocoder help....nice one....but ***

nice one mate...
but is there a sure fire way of achiving this effect...like using a string or a square wave....what i really want to know is the actual settings...thanks

What next?????

I downloaded the program--but there are no instructions as to what to do next--only a bunch of techie stuff. All I want to do is search for music I might want to download. Mossberg of the Wall St Journal said this was easy--but it just looks like techies talking to each other. This will never sell to the average user. Where's the music????

Are you talking about Napster?

You're just jibbering.

I'm assuming you are in the chat section. hit the search button at the top middle and search man search.

Hey, my login works again.

CD Burners- Please Help

I recently purchased the CD "Significant Other" - by "Limp Bizkit"
and found that there are some hidden tracks on the CD that play
backwards. By this, I mean: the music played in a forward manner
as it should do, though the track itself reverses (beginning with
a minus value eg. [-01:07], winding down to [-00:01]). I was wondering
if anyone knew of a software application, available on Windows 9x
which could perform such an action. I currently have Nero Burning Rom,
though, there doesn't seem to be a way to do this on Nero.

How do I coonmvert NAPSTER to WAV with the distortion??

Re: How do I coonmvert NAPSTER to WAV with the distortion??

Napster is MP3 files.

Distortion is .wav or .aiff files.

Look for a MP3 to wav/aiff file converter.

Next you need a way to put distortion on . Usually it's an audio editor porgram, like:

Goldwave, ASIA, cooledit, etc.

decent microphone? grand piano

I'd like to record live grand piano with reasonably good quality. The recordings would be practice sessions later for review. I've got the software portion worked out, but I'm having trouble selecting a good quality though inexpensive microphone. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good microphone that wouldn't cost an arm & a leg? Will running a 25 foot cable from the mic to the piano hurt the sound quality much?
thanks for any help

Re: decent microphone? grand piano

first condenser mic tends to have a realy good frequency responce.
I think I got ours from tandy it was an AKG..... can't remember the number
and it wasn't to expensive. this will record the piano realy good if placed about 2 metres from the strings

I also heard of a teqneque one of the pro use. he was using a dinamic mic (£15 ish) 1 metre above the strings and covering over the hole thing with a blanket
I haven't tryed it with a grand yet but it works prity well with a upright. it could be worth a try.

as for the 25 metre wire I think it should be ok but the yamaha sound manual has the exact figure to what will stop the destortion. I don't have a copy here so I can't hellp there.

thanx for listerning........

POLARIS.

Me the Dumb III

Talk to the guys at www.pro-rec.com, or try to find the April issue of Electronic Musican with all the MICs on the cover.

Anything but a marshall is the word.

25 ft wont hurt if you are using balanced gear and you know how to use it.

Bye.

Re: Me the Dumb III

I really like the Shure KSM32, which I think the site the other guy mentioned also recently reviewed the mic. Of course, there's the standard SM57, usually not too expensive.. but really good.

as for 25 feet, in length, it shouldn't be a problem, use good cable though.

Reformat

Hello folks,
I'm currently running Win 98 with an 8.4gb drive split into two partitions. Originally I had intended keeping one partition for my music stuff, but thats erm gone out the window so to speak. Now my well preened system is pissing me off on occasion and I would like to reformat my hard drive and reinstall from scratch. The question simply is, how do I do this? (please don't say buy partition magic or something because I'm genuinely pretty penniless and I know you can do it yourself). I would actually like to be able to create a dual boot system. If anyone is able to help here, then good on ye mate.

Re: Reformat

I would reccomend Bootmagic.. but if not.. well, you need to format your ahrd drive, if you right click on the C:\ drive icon in "My Computer" then, you can format..
As for dual booting, If your second OS is Windows 2000, I heard it has a dual OS boot feature... but I may be wrong, don't take my word on it. If it isn't Win2K or it doesn't have that feature, then you need a program like BootMagic, made by the same company who makes Partition Magic.

Hope this Helps,
reply if you need more info

audio cd recording and coding

when i record music on my cd-r every one make copy of this cd .
how i make protected .

Re: audio cd recording and coding

Use a program like Nero. If you compile a CD in Nero
It will apply automatic copywrite protection. This,
however can still be copied by certain CD copying
applications, but these programs are not very common!
