volume control

Hi there.
I need to know, how to create a hot key that works like a shortcut to control the volume of my laptop, I mean no the maestro mixer program, but only the funtion that high and low the volume.
I really miss the volume control buttons in my old Compaq 7400, because the Compaq M700 dosn't have this function.

Opinions & Suggestions please!

could someone tell me what they think (performance-wise) about the Panasonic CD-R 7503 8X/20X external? i found a great deal for a bundle priced at under $400. (bundle includes Nero 4.0 CD recording software (OEM version) and InCD packet writing software, Advansys PCI SCSI2 Busmastering Adapter, and cable). would love to hear from you guys if you think that this is any good. thanks!!

My opinion

I dunno about the panasonic. I highly recommend a SCSI cd burner. Yamaha makes really nice ones and for cheap. Plus dont think your getting a deal with the NERO burning software. It isnt that great. CDRWIn still kicks the crap outta adaptec, nero, diskjuggler, etc.
Heres a link for you. THey have excellent prices on cd burners. (or used to)

Well, I have been using it a very long time. I would be glad to answer any questions. What version are you using? I have from 2.x - 6.0. 6.0 is only the demo version. I would like to buy the new version but $.

Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 & plug-ins

Does anyone know a step by step process of attatching a plug-in to a sound in Cakewalk9. The plug-ins that I am using are free ones that I downloaded. Also, any does and don'ts would be helpful.

does anyone know where i could obtain a copy of the OVAL PROCESS software? and if not, could someone please explain some of the audio techniques which markus popp uses?

Cakewalk Pro Audio 8 Loop Question

I have a small question about Cakewalk Pro Audio 8.
I am using it as a sequencer for external midi modules.
Often, I need to be able to change the part of the track
that is being played very easily. The way I do this is
by using many markers and in the marker-view I can choose
which part of the track I want to be *selected*, using that
selection I can specify the loop points in real time. This
works great except for one thing. When I'm changing to a
loop that comes before the part currently playing, it
instantly starts playing the new loop. This results in
an inconsistent time. Is there any way to tell Cakewalk
to wait until the current selection is finished playing
to start the next loop? Any information would be very helpful

thanks.

One more thing...about .ram files

can anyone tell me how to get the actual .ram file off the net and on to my computer? i want to be able to listen to the file without having to connect to the internet and waiting for it to search when i want to listen to the next track. i just want to search the file for the next song and not have to worry about the buffering time, etc. etc. etc. thanks!!

Re: One more thing...about .ram files

Try right clicking and choosing "save target as" or shift-clicking in netscape

1- use the ejay programs to put them directly onto
a cd or
2- convert them to wav with the program "gowave"
and put them on a cd with "the easy cd creator" program

How to do this

How do I get a music file capable of going on Adaptec Easy CD creator 4?
Tell me how as soon as possible.

One note on the responce, you need to look in output driver, not input.

a good CD burner varies by opinion.. some people like HP, but I hear they're bad for coasters.. I also hear Mitsumi is good.. and a definate fave is Plextor.

you have to convert mp3 files to wav probably.
i have winamp as my player. i go to options->preferences=preference window->select input device, and choose nullsoft disk writer plug-in,click configure.
after that select a file to store the converted "wav" file.
*******i haven't been able to play the mp3s with my winamp since i did this(today) so take heed. if you know how to convert the "player mode" back, please let me know. thanks

Looking 4 an editor 2 seperate mixed waves

I wonder if there's a downloadable software which will be able to take a Wave sound file of a few mixed voices and seperate
it into channels, each channel with one voice... (CoolEdit & Goldwave have not managed to do so, or to be exact - I didn't manage to do so using them).
Please enlighten me,
Guy

Re: Looking 4 an editor 2 seperate mixed waves

It's sorta hard to do that, there have been quite a few postings about seperating vocals from music or vice versa.. which is rather difficult, but what you want to do is even more difficult.. if not impossible, unless you ahve the multitrack recordings.

wrk midis

Ihave some wrk songs but I don`t know how to listen to them, do I need to download some software if so tell me what can i do or where can download de software..
Thanks for your help

Re: wrk midis

wrk formats are the work files of CakeWalk. Try to download Cakewalk 7.x from somewhere.
Would you send me information on where to find wrk files? Or can you send me a few songs?
Thanks
Árpád

Re: wrk midis

As I recall the .wrk files are proprietary Cakewalk files. You either need to open them with Cakewalk - there are plenty of shareware versions around OR use a simple utility called CAKE2MID which I downloaded from the Web a couple of years ago. It shouln't be too hard to find - sorry I don't have the URL. Let me know if you have any strife. Regards, John

connecting rebirth to cubase

i read the documentation from cubase vst 3.7 and rebirth 2.01 , they connected by ReWire option on the cubase vst

the only thing i manage is to make some pattern on the rebirth and play it together with trackes on the cubase side

but can i program rebirth patterns (the drum patterns)
directly from cubase

i know that i can control the rebirth knobes from cubase by midi bit it's not enough

i want to make some drums from cubase , if i control a synth like reality then i can load the synth with drum sound and play it directly - Send him NOTES , not just control his knobes

but how can i send midi notes to rebirth like i do on reality
i want to control the notes from cubase to

can anyone help me on that

Thank's

Re: connecting rebirth to cubase

Sorry, but what you want cant be done :(
Rebirth is meant to be a stand-alone sequencer/synth and can't be used as an ordinary MIDI module.
A possible solution might be sampling your Rebirth drums and trigger them using a VST drumsampler, there's one or two free ones to be found on the net...

BEST PROGRAM FOR STRING SOUNDS???????????????

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a program that has its own sampled sounds (various string sounds) in it already. I guess what I'm looking for is a software version of a normal synthesizer (one that has its own patches already on board). Anyway, any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! Take care and thanks.

Tee-hee, Gigasampler.

at www.nemesys.com

Used to be 800$, now it's 200$. Best sampling-based synthesis you'll probably ever find.

Re: Tee-hee, Gigasampler.

Holy sheep Sh#@ as my friend would say,
That's REALLY cheap, it's such an amazing program.

Sampling...

Ollie,

You may find you would be happy with a software bases Sampling program. This would give you a lot more variety of general sounds than some SoftSynths.

Reaktor has a sampler built in but I don't have any experience with it. It's Mac/Pc as well. Giga sampler for the PC has quite a following as well. Just an idea...
