IMPORTING MUSIC FROM TURNTABLES!

Hi there,
just a question, hope you can help.
I would like to import music from my turntable into my macintosh (G4) in order to burn my vinyls into CDS. What software and hardware do I need???

What G4 though?

You will need to either, buy a phono to line convertor from a hifi shop, or do like the rest of us and plug the turntables into a hifi amp and then take a line out from their to the G4.

If you have a DJ setup with two decks and a mixer, take a line out of the mixer and plug that into the G4.

The red and white plugs NEED to be plugged into a
PHONO-->LINE convertor or a standard hifi amplifiers PHONO input otherwise it will sound poor. The output of that conversion which would generally be two more phonos (Red-Right/White-Left) would have to go straight into the computer which, if it doesn't have an user installed Audio/Soundcard, will probably have a minijack stereo input which means you will have to buy an jumper lead from somewhere like Radio Shack.

Peak is an excellent, reliable and fast editor. Most other audio programs will let you record from the audio input.

Yes but what software and how? I know on windows I can use movie maker and just import a song into it, bring it into the edit box and cut it at a certain time...for macintosh though I have no Idea what software to use and how to do that? What music editor is out there that lets me cut a song at a certain point and just save it?

MD to CD

I have a G4 Apple Mac and a portable Minidisc player, and would like to know how to transfer music from Minidisc to CD? I have software (Sound Studio, iTunes etc...). Somebody, Anybody...HELP!!!

Try WaveLab.

1) Record MD to HDD
2) Click "auto generate track marks for CD" from the "Markers" menu

Entire process - 4 minutes (excluding MD to HDD and burning CD).

Hearing Voice Through Speakers

I want to use my PC for Karaoke.
I can play Karaoke VCD discs via Power DVD software.
When I plug in a microphone I cannot get any voice / singing through the speakers. I know that most programmes using a microphone use it merely for recording and no sound passes to the speakers.
How do I enable the computer so I can sing through the speakers?

On a Windows box, open the mixer (double click on the speaker on the lower right corner of the desk top) make sure the mic is un-muted (check box at bottom of mic fader) and that the fader is up. If you get a loud squelch sound bring down the fader all the way, then back up to just below where the feedback (squelch) occurs.
