Re: how to install microphone

: Well, have you plugged the mic into your soundcard? Do that first of all. Install Yahoo messenger and you will find there is an audio setup wizard built into it which will test you mic levels, bandwidth and general settings. But if you are behind a firewall, using Yahoo to do a bit of speech chat is problematical because it's hit or miss as to whether Yahoo's chat feature lets you get talking.

: : i tried to install a mic throw yhaoo and it keeps saying that one is in the system somewhere but i dont know where to look. could you please help me. thanks

Re: how to install microphone

44 hz to 32 hz

I have some wav samples on my computer in 44 hz and want to put them on a smartmedia card in 32 hz for my Korg ES-1. I don't need to edit the files in any other way. What are some cheaper programs that can make this conversion. Thank you!

Lance

Re: 44 hz to 32 hz

You can use an audio editor to do this. Cool Edit 2000, Goldwave, Sound Forge and Audacity should be able to manage this process with ease.

The newest version of CDex will do it as well. Freeware.

cubasis 4 and soundblaster audigy 2 platinum

anyone know where I might find some sort of duffers guide to operating Cubasis 4 ?

Re: cubasis 4 and soundblaster audigy 2 platinum

: anyone know where I might find some sort of duffers guide to operating Cubasis 4 ?

No, I'm looking for one myself. I've been reading the Adobe Acrobat manual that comes with it, and I must say I was very disappointed with the lack of printed manual. For the best part of $500 you think they could actually afford to print it out. I'm starting to get on top of basic recording, but I've only put a few guitar tracks and a drum m/c track down yet. I'll try to reply if I find something 'cause I'm going looking for something today.

Basic standalone DirectX host shell?

I need one. :) It will allow a LOT of freedom, in conjunction with Virtual Audio Cable.

The thing needs to host and run DX plugins, and accept MIDI control, preferably, and appear to apps as a set of input and output pairs just like a soundcard. Any ideas?

music similarities

Ok I'm sure people hear this all the time but I'm trying to get some vocals out of some music. I'll cut to the chase I have the mixed audio and the music only. I know there is a way in most sound programs to tell it to remove the similarities in the audio the problem is I can't line them up exactly I just can't get it to work.

Does anyone know if there's a program out there that will take 2 peices of audio, find the similarities in the 2 and subtract one from the other for me?

Thanks very much

Re: music similarities

I don't think it could work like that. I am no expert on current technologies that try to 'remove' instruments from a mono or stereo document.

Where there are vocal frequencies, there are other frequencies from other instruments. The difference will then be in the volume of those frequencies. I don't see how taking down the volume of certain frequencies and bandwidths would 'remove' what a human deciphers as a seperate instrument.

Re: music similarities

Ok yeah I am trying to remove the music but I'm not trying to get them by removing frequencies and stuff.

Basically someone modified my project at work without my permission and deleted some very expensive voice overs. I have the original music the voice is mixed with. What I need is something to look at the form of the music, compare it with the mixed track and remove the similarities (in this case the music).

I haven't heard of anything that can do that but I don't usually do this kinda stuff.

Re: music similarities

: Ok yeah I am trying to remove the music but I'm not trying to get them by removing frequencies and stuff.

It sounds like you are trying to remove a vocal from a stereo document that has other instruments in it. That was my point. It doesn't work like you are imagining.

It sounds like you are trying to find an application that can listen to two stereo/mono documents and then remove the dissimilarities. My frequency explanation was describing how I don't think it could work like that. The only 'so called' vocal removal programs are crude and don't generally work. Try some if you like but that's, as far as I am aware, is all you get..

Best of luck

searchable sample database

I'm looking for a program that I can use to organize my samples. I need one that can scan Windows PCM Wav files and extract the RIFF information (genre, title, keywords, description, etc. ), so that I can search for samples by keywords or genre.
There seem to be plenty of programs that create databases of mp3s and extract the tags - but I can't find anything for Wav files.
Can any one recommend a suitable program that will run on XP?

Re: searchable sample database

This might have some of the features you are after: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SampliFile/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SampliFile/</a>

how can u...?

how can you convert your music files from your computer into a WMA URL so that you can place it for your webpage?

Re: how can u...?

Convert the file to WMA and then upload it to your storage space where your webpages are. You'd make a link like you would for a link to a page, only you link to the file as opposed to the html page.

eg. <http://www.yourwebspace.com/file.wma>file.wma</a>

why can't you people get it!

THE "ICE SYNTH vst" is a P.C.PLUG-IN!!! (so why is it listed under "Mac: SOFTWARE SYNTHS"!?) This is not the first time you people(Hitsquad.com)
have done this!, why can't you people get it and at least keep up with what your putting where and make searching for stuff a little easier on us MAC
users!!!

Re: why can't you people get it!

Come on mate. Don't you ever make a mistake?

Re: why can't you people get it!

Hello Joe

You're right. We made a mistake. We'll get it fixed as soon as possible. With over 4,000 programs on the site there is bound to be the odd error with regards to categorizing software.

cheers
Geoff
