analog to digital

I want to now how to down load analog synth. into my p/c.

Re: analog to digital

Hi

Your best bet is to look for a synth which emulates the analog sounds that you want.

Here's a quick <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/htdig/htsearch.cgi?method=and&format=builtin-long&config=htdig&restrict=%2Fsmm%2Fprograms%2F&exclude=&words=analog+synth">list of synths</a>, some of which emulate analog.

Cheers

I'm a DJ and I want to add some extra groove to my records.

Can you please put some arguments in your answer?

So which one? (=>in combination with my turntables)

Burning Music?

I have Mp3 files I want to convert, in order to burn them to CD, so I can listen on any CD player
What do I need to get or do?

Hi Jerry,
Might I suggest getting a program called MP3 to Wav Converter? It has a simple format in which you highlight the mp3 that you want to convert, and then right click and you will see in the popup menu convert mp3s to wav. Also, I have Adaptec Easy CD Creator, which I used to burn the cd. It's simple even for a beginner. I found mp3 to wav converter on the net and I can't remember if it's shareware or freeware, but I really like it... you can set the path where you want it saved and everything! I would go to your favorite search engine and find it... :)

Streaming Audio

Does anyone know the best, most effective, cheapest way to do webcasts.
Or any web sites that might point me in the right direction?

Re: Streaming Audio

Hi there

Great question! Try <a href="http://www.live365.com/">Live365</a>. I believe you can now do live casts. The other, more complex way, is <a href="http://www.shoutcast.com/">Shoutcast</a>.

saving streaming realplayer files for later viewing/hearing

I would like to save to a realplayer website streaming file for later viewing/listening. How can I do this?

Re: saving streaming realplayer files for later viewing/hearing

If you want to capture the video, I believe you'll need a video capture card to get the best results. The card generally comes with its own software.

To capture audio to WAV, try <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a>.

music scheduling

I have a music library of about 4000 songs. There are some 33 and 45rpm records, some cd's (all of which have been dubbed to mp3's in my computer) It takes about 45%of the hard drive).

I'm looking for a playlist creator music scheduler- something along the lines of Selector (WOW! Thats expensive!) - but shareware that could be purchased for around $100 dollars max.

I want to be able to categorize the music a few ways and have it create a playlist that would not play 2 of the same category songs back to back. I'm also looking for a shareware beat per mmiinute program so I can do that to each song.

Your ideas for a "professional hobbiest" would be appreciated.

Anybody please help

Re: Anybody please help

If you scroll through the forum, you will find the answer to your question. In this case, <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a> will capture RM to WAV. Don't be afraid to look around.

App to convert .ra, .ram files into MP3 files

I have some music files in .ra and .ram format. I wanted to convert/record them in MP3 fromat so that I can burn them on to a CD and listen on a MP3 player

Re: App to convert .ra, .ram files into MP3 files

Save the music files as WAV by using <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a>.

Get an MP3 encoder to save the new WAV files as MP3. Best place for this is the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/MP3/">MP3 category</a>.

Need to convert mp3 to .ra (real audio) files

I'm looking for any free software that will enable me to convert .mp3 or .wav files into .ra files. I know that the Sound Forge is one of them but I've spent 2 days looking for a place to download the full version but no luck. Any ideas where I can find any software that will do this for me? Thnx

Re: Need to convert mp3 to .ra (real audio) files

There are lot of decoder/encoder sofware u can use.U can try this software "jukebox " www.musicmatch.com).
Anyway, the software can't convert mp3 to ram directly. Convert mp3 file to audio format(.cda) first then convert to ra format.

Re: Need to convert mp3 to .ra (real audio) files

well i suggest getting software to first decode your mp3's into .wav files before going to ra. you could do this with ultraplayer (free). then you might want to try cool edit. www.syntrillium.com i believe (?) the demo is fully functional, except you can only do two features at once. when i was hard up for cash, this still helped me out tremendously. but seriously think about checking out sound forge, you won't find any better. at any rate good luck. email me privately for more info.

Re: Need to convert mp3 to .ra (real audio) files

You should download Real Producer from real.com. The software is a free download and you can create single bit rate real audio files (.rm) If you want to create multi bit-rate surestream files you will need to upgrade to Real Producer Plus. But once again, the download is free and its really easy to use.

PS Real Audio files are .rm not .ra.

Re: Need to convert mp3 to .ra (real audio) files

<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a> will do the job.

Cheers

Re-mixing s/ware

I am looking to get a hold of some software that can take a sample and strip it down
to the bare bones eg synths, drum loops and vocals so that I can edit them for re-mixing
purposes. If any of you guys out there know of anything
that can do this, let me know ASAP pleeeeze.

Just like 100s before you...

It's funny that you're asking this,
because a lot of people have been
asking for something like that recently.

Unfortunately there's no way to do this
at the moment. And I doubt if it will ever
be possible to analyse a homogenic
soundwave and dissect it into clean separate
instrument layers again. Sorry, but you
need the original multitrack files to
be able to remix...

Another Adaptec EasyCD Question.......................

I have a Hewlett Packard 9310i CD burner that came with Adaptec EasyCD Creator 3.5 I purchased version 4.0, but it doesn't recognize the burner once I install it. Only the HP software and EasyCD 3.5 seem to work. Anyone have any ideas/thoughts/suggestions?

Re: Another Adaptec EasyCD Question.......................

I've recently purchased Iomega's CDR ZIPcd650 and I have the same software, and for some reason it gives me a message "outputing device reported errors". I've connected the burner every way possible and it still gives me the same message. I'd appreciate any suggestions.....

Re: Another Adaptec EasyCD Question.......................

Neven,

I've encountered this same error and what I've found that fixes this is turning down your write speed a notch or two. Yeah, it defeats the purpose of having a 10x burner, for example, but at least you can overcome the obstacle. I'm hoping that EasyCD 4.0 doesn't do this as much as 3.5 does.

API for Yamaha sound card

I recently bought a Sony VAIO computer which has a Yamaha DS-SB PCI Audio CODEC (WDM). For a little acoustic experiment, I would like to program that card directly. As a programming language, I would use Delphi, or perhaps VBA.

Is there any API description available for sound cards like that? Are there sound libraries available for Delphi?

Thanks in advance for any help.

8 track sound generation

Sir/Madam:

I'm new to the music software scene. I want a software program that can generate and simultaneously play at least 8 audio frequencies over an 8 octave range. I must be be to set and adjust each frequency individually to a resolution on two decimal places. It would also be helpful if the program has an interface which displays the frequencies of the sound generated, similar to an oscilloscope.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Go to www.goldwave.com
This program will do it but the vocals have to be in stereo and I believe front centered in order for it to work.

Good Luck!

Re: need a program

It's impossible i think...
if not, i m interested to!

unity ds-1 vs. reaktor-give me the skinny....

Im on a tight budget for the moment, but i really crave the options of a sampling synth. If anyone could share theyre opinions with me id greatly appreciate this.for instance is one of these markedly better than the other?(performance, reliability, options, sound quality)I dont want to give one of these guys my money just to find i spent too much for too little.Wich is a better investment for my mac as an experimental musician(who likes flexible sh*t).Is there any little quirks or strengths of any sampling synth ets. etc. etc.

thanks for your time,
robert

A message to the general forum.

I have attended this forum for many many months and feel I have done nothing other than offer my help and advice when available. Recently though I have found that certain peoples actions have made coming here a misery and I have decided that I am going to take a break. I will return at sometime if the general climate changes but it maybe sometime. I know that there are some people that come here irregularly that offer useful advice but I do find that most of the serious questions are usually answered by me. I therefore feel uncomfortable about leaving as, I take it from peoples kind comments that I am actually quite an important cog in the machine.

Thanks for all the E-mails of support in the last couple of weeks, Cya!

make your own

You'll always be limited to short/crap samples as long as your relying on whatever you can find on the net.

Thought about what kinda lyrics or singing you want? Have any friends who can sing or have a nice voice?
Its more fun, creative and meaningful when you do your own thang.
