Do you have Wave-Files?

Dear Ladys and Gentelmen,
I need a Wave-File to put my MP3 Files on CD. Which programme could I use? Does I need any other programme? Thanks for your help!
U. Rausch

Re: Do you have Wave-Files?

You can burn either WAV or MP3 to disc. But I guess you want to convert the MP3 to WAV so you can burn the files onto a disc to play in your stereo. There a lot of programs to do this in the CD Burning section of the site. MP3 CD Maker is one such program.

How in the hell do I find out how has the best multitrack record

I’ve been all over the web looking for reviews, message boards; anything that could tell me how has the best software (and or hardware packages) on the market. I’m just getting started with recording on my computer so I don’t need a $1000.00 package, but on the same note I don’t want to get stuck with some pussy software I just get rid of in a couple of months.

Re: How in the hell do I find out how has the best multitrack re

For a PC I'd recommend 'Music Centre' by Data Becker. Very versatile, cheap, and a lot easier to understand than the Cakewalk stuff!

Re: How in the hell do I find out how has the best multitrack re

are you on mac or pc?For mac I suggest metro 5.0 by cakewalk offered for a measly 50 bucks (compared to the 250 I spent) at the website or the newsletter or musician's friend or something.Pc I have no clue.My advice, buy a mac!

Sonar by Cakewalk is one of the most comprehensive audio and midi programs ever available. I think people are afraid of it because it's new. For the Windows platform I think it's the best. Cakewalk has been developing software on Windows for ten years and this is the culmination of their effort. Their software is some of the only audio software developed on Windows, for Windows, exclusivley. This is not true for say Cubase, Logic Audio and many others. I would check out demos of everything available. Also any version of Cool Edit is really user friendly. The thing is what's great for someone else might not be great for you.

Re: How in the hell do I find out how has the best multitrack re

Hi ya,
Well, there's lotsa stuff. Theres no "best", and certainly best and cheap arent two words associated with each other. For cheap and extremely good there's FA softs n-track studio. There's also SED'K's samplitude. For a great sequencer with pretty darned good audio there's logic audio. A nice all in one package is the digi 001, but on pc it lacks asio drivers and does not support any softsynths, so make sure its what you want.

If there's a demo of n-track I'd try that myself. when you say you want the best without spending your lifes savings I think of logic audio. The 001 is interesting but there's too many catches, and the plug ins are too expensive.

Re: lot of software and hard ware

There are a lot of software out there.
That could do very excellent jobs that doesn,t cause that much burden on your
Also there are package that is not so expensive From marks like just to name a few (E-m,mark of the unicorn, digidesign with media card , cakewalk with peavey mixer ,yamaha etc. Another inexpensive hard ware is lexicon 4in 8 out $199
work with almost any software.
You may find it even cheaper on the E bay a good place to find good price (But beware of fraud sellers)
Try these sites
http://www.sharewaremusicmachine.com/
www.downlaod.com o www.shareware.com.
Also www.creamware.com make very good audio cards.
Another thing is to buy some form of magazine
like music and computer, keyboard magazine etc.
where you will find a lot of software reference.
Feel free to E.mail me for any question if i can help i will.

Like robert said. There is another way, buy yourself and Audio (not sound) card and you will more than likely receive something like Logic Audio AV in it's fully working form. Although this isn't one of the $1000 packages, (they are not quite that expensive...) it is a cut down version of a top quality pro software multitracker... it's more than do for staters and you get a decent audio in/out too... Cubase (small) is often bundled with audio cards too...

Re: ...............

Yes, but we gotta remember that it's the music and not the gear that's important. A few good mics, a few songs and a copy of n-Track will suffice, especially if you're a recording novice.

Re: ...............

Hello,
Right on steve. Im using the 001 on a mac, and really the version of pro tools that comes with it is fine for me. On the other hand, there's the roland studio pack wich comes with a version of logic, there's the delta logic bundle in wich you get a delta 1010 and a special copy of logic(somewhat limited version of course). And some aardvark soundcards come bundled with a full version of cakewalk pro audio 9. Just make sure if you want that sort of package the software is advertised by the retailer as being included otherwise you may just get a soundcard and no app.

Aardvarks soundcards have exremely low latency, and some come with mic pre's, and I dont think it would be too much to upgrade from pro audio 9 to sonar xl wich comes with full versions of the soft synths tassman and dreamsynth as well sonar has a loop stretcher thingy, in otherwords it could be a very complete production system, mic pre's synths sampling recording sequencing etc.
But if you just want an audio set up to record a band consider the 001 or using samplitude.

roland studio pack

Robert,

I have only just come aware of the roland studio pack and find it quite an interesting machine. I have the Roland VS 880 and know their way of manufacturing and software operating systems therefore I find it easy to pick them up. I am needing a desk change and have considered something along these lines. I haven't read many reviews yet though although I will get to see it in the flesh at sometimes soon though.

Confused about the price though, I have seen quite a few varying ones...!

Re: roland studio pack

I saw the price here in the US is $700 most places. Before I'd buy one though I'd be curious if it has 8 or more channels of adat so I can hook up more i/o channels. Even just using keyboards and midi that can be important if you have 6 or more channels of drums and you want each sound on its own track for instance, then all of a sudden you've run out of converters.

The Seven Dwarves "House in the Woods" cd?

Hehehehe..

Sorry, that just seemed funny to me... Sounds like an old song called "should have known better" by someone or other. I think it went Ai yi yi yi yi ya ya ya.... should have known better. It can't be the same one as the one you looking for. I think it was a one hit wonder for someone in the eighties...

Breaking out specific tracks

How can I break a song down into its component tracks? For example I have Pink floyds Mother and I only want to listen to the guitar part so I can learn to play it what can I use to break out just that particular track? I have Cakewalk and Cool Edit pro but if I can use those I havent figured out how. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Re: Breaking out specific tracks

You can't. Once a track has been mixed from it's original multitrack recording to a stereo mix, there is no way you can pull out an individual instrument.

Tracking sea animals

Does anyone know how to convert MP3 files into microwaves? I would be using these to track dolphins in the North Atlantic.I have a computer and a submarine but no software. Uh What kind of music do dolphins like?

Re: Tracking sea animals

So long and thanks for all the fish....

Re:

mostly harmless

Re: Tracking sea animals

Record dolphins, play it with a slower tempo, find similar music, sounds or songs (sounds like opera to me), record it with approximately the same pitch with the pitch range of doplhins (speed up tempo, or simply change pitch), & it might work.
After all dolphins are smarter than us...
