It all depends on your musical preference-If your taste, for example is "Country Music", then you would probably not enjoy "Black Sabbath". but I welcome you all to hear the song clips available on my web site-www.wammy.co.uk Happy listening &

Any Freeware to change your voice pitch in .wav

I would like to record my voice and alter it to a .wav format. I want to use it in my Acid Pro 3.0. Is there any freeware out there that can do it? I have a Sound Blaster Live Value for a soundcard.

Re: Any Freeware to change your voice pitch in .wav

Just use an audio editor. Cool Edit 2000 or Goldwave should do the job.

DFreqTIP - Eliminating the Lead Vocal

DFreqTIP - Eliminating the Lead Vocal

Copyright 2001 by Scott R. Garrigus. Reprinted with permission.

No, I'm not talking about bumping off the lead singer in your band.
What I mean by the title 'Eliminating the Lead Vocal' is removing
the main vocal part from a prerecorded song. Someone recently asked
me if this was possible, and I told him yes and no.

Yes you can remove the lead vocal from a prerecorded song, but only
if the vocal is panned directly in the center of the stereo field.
And even then, the process isn't perfect. There isn't currently any
audio software on the market that can analyze and remove only a
single vocal part. Instead, you have to cut out the material in the
middle of the stereo field. That means cutting out the vocal and
everything else centered in the field.

Here's how to do it in Sound Forge 4.5 and 5.0:
1) Open the audio file.
2) Choose Edit>Select All to select all the data in the file.
3) Choose Process>Channel Converter.
4) In the Channel Converter dialog box, choose the Stereo to Stereo
- Vocal Cut preset.
5) If you want to end up with a pseudo-stereo file, no other
settings are necessary. If you want to end up with a pseudo-mono
file, activate the Invert Right Channel Mix option. Using this
option makes the final results sound a bit better.
6) Click OK.

Here's how to do it in Cool Edit Pro:
1) Open the audio file.
2) Choose Edit>Select Entire Wave to select all the data in the
file.
3) Choose Transform>Amplitude>Channel Mixer.
4) In the Channel Mixer dialog box, choose the Vocal Cut preset.
5) If you want to end up with a pseudo-stereo file, deactivate the
New Right Channel Invert option. If you want to end up with a
pseudo-mono file, no other settings are necessary. As I mentioned
earlier, the mono file sounds better.
6) Click OK.

Depending on the type of material that you're processing, the
results will vary, but they'll never be perfect. You can try to
tweak the mix a bit with EQ, but other than that, what you get is
what you get. Maybe in the future we'll have more sophisticated
software available that will be able to analyze and separate
specific sounds from an audio mix.

Yes we can Eliminate Lead Vocals and solos

Please also see my reply to Burning Karaoke Cds 8/9/01(inserted below)
If you have a MP3 or audio CD and you want to make it into a karaoke then get http://goldwave.com for a PC or Sound Studio http://www.felttip.com for the Mac. Heres how to as sent by Luscius of Felttip.
1. Select all of one channel by moving the pointer to the bottom quarter of
the main waveform view and double-clicking.
2. Select Filters->Invert to invert the phase of that channel.
3. Select Audio->Resample and select the 'Mono' option, then press OK to
start resampling.
You will then have a mono audio file with the center stereo image removed.

Felt Tip Software

PS some tracks have the lead vocal panned or effects like echo are panned to one side and some of the vocal will remain in this case.

So you are the first one I agree with!
Also I went to EMI with my son and I think they had a black box or software which moved the stereo mix so that each instrument could be eliminated separately if they were in different pan positions. I will find out what it is and let you know. I' m sure it is not cheap! We were able to get down toi the drums by themselves from a mixed down master we brought.

roland to powerbook

I have an apple power book g4 titatium with cubase installed. I also have a roland vs880. Would like to move files from roland to powerbook. Any I deas?

thanks, Judson

Re: roland to powerbook

hi judson. i'm in a similar situation: i have a br-8 and i'm trying to move data from that to my g4 ti-book and then onto cd via a burner. i've spent the last few monthsw researching breakout boxes and software, etc.
since you already have cubase, all you need is an audio interface. since the vs880 uses both analog and digital outputs, you could go either route, but if you eventually want to burn your recordings to cd, then i'd suggest getting an interface with spdif i/o, that way you can preserve the high audio quality. there are a
few that do it: the vx pocket is a popular one that goes into the pci card slot. it has a few mic and rca inputs and outs plus digital i/o. i think the quattro is a similar deal.

since i've not yet bought any software, i'm leaning toward getting a unit called the MOTU 828 because it comes bundled with software, and if you buy the unit, then you can upgrade to digital performer for free--not bad.

if you have cash to burn, then a german company called RME makes a badass unit called the DSP hammerfall. you have to buy a pci card bus too, though, and together they cost about $1100. they've gotten excellent reviews, though, and are the best units in terms of low latency--just pricey as hell. you can check out their homepage to learn more.

there's also an online version of computermusic (it's a british mag) and on the page there's a link pertaining to laptop audio interfaces. the reviewers test several units and then rate them. it's a great resource. just search for the "computermusic" homepage and you should find it.

after you get one of those interfaces, then all you'd have to do is run the digital out into the digital in of the interface and then process the data with cubase. then, if you wanted, you could just save the song as an AIFF file and then burn to cd or mp3 or whatever.

hope that was helpful. it sounded like you were in the same position i was in a few months back, and i wanted to help.

if you're confused about anything else, i'd recommend finding a guitar center near you and going to talk with the pro audio guys. they tend to be great resources for info.

good luck,

-reggie.

Manual offered/manual needed for SECK 1882

First, I need the manual (or a copy) for the meter bridge for a SECK 1882 MKII. I can take it by email or snail-mail, and am willing to pay a reasonable price for an original or copy.
Next, I have an excellent copy of the manual of a SECK 1882 MKII board which I will email to anyone needing it (or I can send snail-mail if you'll provide an address) -- these are copies of my manual, not originals. Thanks for your help.

Re: Manual offered/manual needed for SECK 1882

can you mail me the manual for the SECK 1882 board?
Please.

Recording Sound Fonts ?

Does anyone know how I can record Sound fonts into my music using cubase, I know that I can record it in a wave format and then import into a song, but is there an easier method ?

Talkbox sound

I have a heil talkbox and a yamaha dx 7 , but i don't have the same talkbox voice like roger troutman! can anybody tell me another synth which is better? please help me !

Re: Talkbox sound

hi,

Right, here's the deal. If you want to record the output from your MP3 DJing program to wav and you don't have one that has built in recording, forget about utilities like Total Recorder and Virtual Cable. Total Recorder seems to have problems recording the output of other programs through it's virtual driver unless you can set the output sound device to Wave Mapper or Automatic. Most MP3 mixing programs won't let you do that. If your program does let you set the main output to either Wave Mapper or Automatic, then you can probably use Total Recorder. Virtual Cable has enough of a delay between the input and output devices that in most programs I noticed a slower response time when pressing play. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist. The quality of MP3 has enough problems that I don't like the idea of using an analogue connection between two sound cards either. So after a lot of frustration, I finally figured it out. Here's what you have to do. Step 1: First you need at least one duplex sound card. Not much of a problem most of them are these days. Set your programs main output to a duplex sound card and the headphones to a second one if you have one. Step 2: Go into Control Panel under the Start Menu under settings. Open Multimedia. In the Audio Tab check to see if the Sound Card you set as the main output in your DJ program is the selected Playback device. Step 3: Click on the Playback button. If in step 2 the card you set as your main output in your program was the selected Playback device, make sure that Wave is selected and that the volume is set to something reasonable. It should say Wave or Wave/DirectSound or something like that. If you don't see it or if in step 2 the card you selected as your main output in your program wasn't the selected Playback device, click on the Options Menu, click on Properties, select the Mixer Device for the sound card you set as the main output for your program and make sure Adjust volume for Playback is selected. In the list select Wave or Wave/DirectSound and click OK. Now you should see it. Make sure it's selected and set the volume. Then close the Play Control window. Step 4: In the Audio Tab check to see if the Sound Card you set as the main output in your DJ program is the selected Recording device. Step 5: Click on the Recording button. If in step 4 the card you set as your main output in your program was the selected Recording device, make sure that Wave is selected and that the volume is set to something reasonable. If you don't see it or if in step 4 the card you selected as your main output in your program wasn't the selected Recording device, click on the Options Menu, click on Properties, select the Mixer Device for the sound card you set as the main output for your program and make sure Adjust volume for Recording is selected. In the list select Wave. Warning! If you don't have a duplex sound card you may not see it listed. Click OK. Now you should see it. Make sure it's selected and set the volume. Then close the Record Control window. Click OK to close Multimedia Properties and then close Control Panel. Step 6: Run your DJ program and a recording program. In your recording programs options set the recording device to the same one as the main output for your DJ program. If your recording program doesn't allow you to set the sound devices internally )most of them do), you'll have to set the sound card you selected in your DJ program as your Recording Preferred device in Multimedia. Start recording and what you mix should be recorded. Some mixing programs will take over your sound card. In this case you'll either have to wait until you close your DJ program to playback what you've recorded or you'll have to set your recording programs output to another device internally or in Multimedia. Once you have your mixes recorded to WAV, it should be easy enough to burn them on to CD. If you want a free mixing program try Tactile12000. It can't record directly, but it's freeware and you can use the method above to record. You can download it from http://www.tactile12000.com/
