ram to wav- conversion

Who can send me information about conversion of
RealPlayer-ram-files into wav-files ?

Re: ram to wav- conversion

Download the RAM file and open it in a text editor. You will find the location of the RA file within it. Then download the RA file. Convert it to WAV with <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a>.

Well if you have Finale you can just save it as standard-midi-file, or as PDF.

In Case You Didn't Get It...

I don't have the time any more to be a frequent forum discuss(t)ive person, so I'll stop by when I can. I hope the same will aply for others (like Steve_R, who propably has this forum's most answered questions record), and I'm glad to see new people post answers...

Description of kozida's most common megalomaniac episode.
kozida's band opens for Steve Vai and the crowd likes the band better... (¿)

If anyone read the answers I posted starting earlier this summer, would easily distinguish the use of plain English (you never know where is the question coming from), and the simplicity (not always) that was deliberately imposed on what I wrote in order to provide a generally understood answer. It's a simple communication exersise. If any asshole here thinks that this can inflate my megalomanic tendencies, he is dead wrong. Have in mind that I don't embrace internet communication (not even telephone), but it's a tool for some and the only help resource for others.

If you need to chat with me, gimme your ICQ and wait forever...

Midi files to Roland MC 500 conversion

Does anyone know how to convert standard midi files to operate on my ancient MC 500? Is there some way to record midi files to my sequencer?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! My midi equipment doesn`t operate in general midi. Thanks!

Re: Midi files to Roland MC 500 conversion

: Does anyone know how to convert standard midi files to operate on my ancient MC 500? Is there some way to record midi files to my sequencer?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! My midi equipment doesn`t operate in general midi. Thanks!

Answer : Roland Corp. made in the early nineties a software called "MRM-500", STANDARD MIDI FILE CONVERTER. This sofware has to be booted on the MC-500, thus making possible to convert files both ways (from a standard midi file to MC-500 format and from MC-500 format to standard midi file. According to the manual that came with the software, it is possible to convert several songs at a time, but the process is very slow and not quite reliable, that's why I recommend to convert only one song at a time, and check the result by carefully listening the whole song when converted (some errors may occur during the conversion). Anyway, you can do it if you are ready to be patient. I actually have this software, but I'm not willing to sell it; you should try to contact Roland to see if they still have it, and also the manual that is helpful to operate the software when you're not familiar with it.

the best way to plug my guitar

what is the best way to plug my guitar and/or microphone into my computer?

thanks for any answer.

Re: the best way to plug my guitar

: what is the best way to plug my guitar and/or microphone into my computer?

: thanks for any answer.

If you want to go into the computer with the guitarsound, as it is, use line or mic connector.
Make sure you do not overload the soundcard.
I use Line6 POD and take out the sound as mono and lower the output on the POD.

But you can also get a GVOX midimic for a low price or a roland midimic for a higher price and go in through the midiports.
Then you can play the piano on the guitar, but the axe doesn´t sound like an axe whatever you do.
I use GVOX to do what the ones you could hammer on the piano would do.
Since I know my axe I can make it play as if it were any other instrument.

In my studioprogram I can then play all the backing on midi and then add the solo as an Wavefile, using the lineinput as told above.
Many lowcost studioprogram has both midi and wavetracks, so for a sum of lets say
1 soundblaster live
1 GVOX
1 midimic
1 studioprogram than manage both midi and wave
Youre up and running

When youv'e got the guitar recorded into your computer, check out Revalver, it emulates various amp/speaker combinations.

Re: the best way to plug my guitar

You might need a cabinet speaker emulator to obtain a good electric guitar sound (proper micing of a mono/stereo amp needs proper input(s) from a pro (not SB Pro) soundcard and an average of 2 pro mics per amp -which can get very a expensive task, so a cabinet speaker emulator is recommended).
Some info about mics can be found at:
http://www.dpamicrophones.com/

Re: the best way to plug my guitar

get your hands on a sesound Soloist or solo EX. they have awesome mic pres, it is easy to use and you can pick one up fairly cheap. I was askingthe same question roughly a month ago and the soloist definately solved my problem.

VERY ANNOYING ADVERTISING!!!!!!

A few of you will probably be interested in this issue
so here's one email discussion I've been having with a
regular visitor to this site...

Dear HitSquad,

Your pop-up casino advertising which appears in a
separate window virtually every time you click on a
link is ...

EXTREMELY ANNOYING!!!!!!

Please, for the sanity of users and the ease of use of
your web site, rely on advertising that is embedded in
web pages only.

Thanks,
Regular user of your site,
Sid

Re: VERY ANNOYING ADVERTISING!!!!!!

Hello,

I certainly appreciate your concerns over pop-ups, but the
decision to run them was as simple as this: <b>run them or shut
the web site down.</b>

Due to the lack of banner advertising revenue the only way
to keep the site going was to run pop-up ads which advertisers
are still paying good rates for. But even with this revenue
we had to 'downsize' by laying off 3 people here are Hitsquad,
that's 3 people who no longer make their living working in
music.

We had a detailed discussion about this 6 weeks ago and the
majority decision was to keep the pop-ups rather than cancel
any of the free services we provide - please look at the
discussion thread at
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/wwwboard/messages/80703.html">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/wwwboard/messages/80703.html</a>

Please let me know if you have any alternative ideas on how
we can keep the free services online - I really do work from
the feedback I get.

Jason Horton

: We had a detailed discussion about this 6 weeks ago and the
: majority decision was to keep the pop-ups rather than cancel
: any of the free services we provide - please look at the
: discussion thread at
: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/wwwboard/messages/80703.html">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/wwwboard/messages/80703.html</a>

: Please let me know if you have any alternative ideas on how
: we can keep the free services online - I really do work from
: the feedback I get.

Hey Jason: I've been in business for myself most of my life, and I say you do whatever you need to do to keep this site going. Popups aren't nearly as annoying as some other forms of advertising. I'm sorry to hear you had to lay people off. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this site. Long Live SMM!

Re: streaming audio

I'd just use Live365.com

What DAW Reads Session 8 *.ses files?

I need a DAW that will read Session 8's session files and save them in their own format (so I can continue editing).
I want to dump my Session 8 hardware & software for something newer and more powerful. However, I don't want to re-create all my Session 8 sessions.
Any experts out there that can steer me?

Thanks...Roger

Can not connect to CDDB

While in MMJB I try to get track names and artist or even Cd covers and I get an error message I am not connected to the internet, which I am via cable LAN) connection and it is always up and running. I am new at this and my network provider says it is not anything to do with their server.HELP!!!! I am subscribed to the lifetime plan and can't even use all the features. Thanks, Masik

Re: Can not connect to CDDB

It's not your ISP's problem. A lot of the CDDB databases
are subscription services, so won't allow access unless
you register/pay up to use it.
