Dss to Wav

We are an upcoming firm in the field of medical transcription. We have a query about software, which can convert .dss files into .wav files. Is there any software to convert .dss and .dvf files into .wav files, or any software with which we can run these files through foot pedals.

Basic Mac Sound Recording Help

I am looking for free software that will allow me to record my voice using my external Mac microphone. I would like to be able to easily email the sound files. I have a G3 with lots of RAM. As you can tell, I am new to this subject and would appreciate any advice.

And i am new to this,i dont know what too do,as far as getting them loaded on my computer.Is there a way?Ihave a Walkman,and can plug it in to the inline jack,but from there iam lost!Please help me figure this out,it would be very much appreciated.Ihope this is possible,Thank you,Dave Crepps.

Connect your Receiver/Amp to your "Line In" on your soundcard at the back of your computer. Use Goldwave Wave Editor to record the signal. If you use the headphones output on your "walkman" or any other sound system the sound quality will suffer. It is best to use the Line Out feature on your walkman or sound system (if there is one). You will need to learn how to use Goldwave's recording feature (not difficult) to master this skill.

Wave to CDA Conversion

Anyone make a suggestion as to how to burn wave to an audio cd. I'm trying to play wave files on my car stereo.

go to www.download.com and search for software for cd burning.

just burning wav files to a cd isnt readable for most music cd players. you need the software to burn it in audio-cd format. all you do is tell it which wav/mp3 files to burn to the cd and it does it.

I hate to disagree, but you can burn WAV files without conversion. Easy CD Creator will take WAV files, convert them on the fly to CDA and write them to a CD.

Can't get MAGIX Music Maker 5 to work in XP!

Does anybody know how to solve this problem? When I launch MAGIX! Music Maker 5 in XP, it keeps asking me to put the installation disk in the cd-rom player. (Putting the disk in does nothing.) Music Maker 5 worked fine in ME, but has not worked since I upgraded my system. I uninstalled and reloaded MM5 twice using both the XP (Control panel / add/remove programs) tools and the uninstall utility that comes with MM5. www.magix.net was no help whatsoever except to say that they don't support MM5 on XP. AND they have not answered my email from about a week ago. (I did download and run a patch for MM5 found on their site, but they do not say what the patch is for, and it did not solve the problem.)

This does not look like a code problem per se, but possibly a "pathing" problem in the registry or something along those lines, but before I go "poking around" I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions.

If you can hear the stream, you can record it (if you see what I mean) to either an .aif/.wave file or directly as an Mp3. It's a decent Mp3 player as well as a radio broadcaster.

Ir's $15 for the full version. Register it over the net for ease... Highly recommended..!

Depends how good you want the end result to be. If you're after something that will remove vocals and leave the remaining music completely unchanged, then you're out of luck - nothing exists.

However, if you don't mind the end result sounding as if it's being played through a thick curtain, then something like Goldwave will go some way.

Looking for mixing software to create CD's

What are the good mixing programs. I would like to create CD's by being able to mix tracks together. I now use Multiquence/Goldwave to do this, but I need easier to use features. I would also like to get creative by adding sound effects to the tracks and other cool stuff. I make make CD's for myself from LP's, CD's, MP3's (converted to WAV), Realplayer files (converted to WAV) and I would like a wider selection of features now that I have had my hand at this. Thanks to all.

I just started wanting to get into mp3 music and I just started to get into mp3--infancy stage- and someone showed me soundjam. It seemed easy. As it turns out, you can't get it anymore. Any suggestions on something comparable?

No Sound

Cubase VST
Mac G3, running on Mac OS 9.1 with LaCie 44GB external Hard Drive
Delta 44 Sound card
Roland Super MPU64 MIDI Processor
Roland MC303 Groovebox

We are running the above set up and are having various teething problems with MIDI. We have been running the Quick Start Song to test our set up and are not getting any sound from the MIDI tracks on the QSS.

We have talked to our local Steinberg support people in London and they have gone through our set up and suggest that it should be OK. We have also talked to Roland and they also say that everything should be OK. We are using brand new MIDI cables and all the connections are are stable so we don't think it could be a problem in that area.

We reckon that it possibly has something to do with the Super MPU64 and VST running together or Mac extensions and the Delta 44 sond card, but can't get any clarification on this.

Has anyone heard of any similar problems with this kind of set up and if so are there any solutions that anyone could suggest? Thanks in advance.

I am unsure how far you have got and to what the real problem is. Is it that the Midi isn't registering to and from the computer?? can you hear sound from the audio tracks?

I suspect that you soundcard might have an SP/DIF input which would be handy as the Optical output on the MD is SP/DIF although of the optical variety.

All you would need to do then is buy an Optical to Coaxial SP/DIF convertor. I think M-audio make one.. Someone like that. I would check with the local decent hifi shop. There are a few of them about in those circles.

does your soundcard have optical inputs? what kind is it?

you probably need a WAV make program, and just hit record to record the input. your soundcard might have a virtual mixer to turn on and off and adjust input levels.
