Sound Card for PC

Hello everybody,

can somebody recommend me fine sound card for PC around 250$ (at least 2analog in/out, optical in/out) and software for music home making?:
home recording
making synth, bass & drum loops in PC
only guitars and vocs rec through inputs
edit and adjusting all recorded tracks

Is REASON soft o.k. for this?
I´ve got only experiences with my Yamaha MD-4 minidisc multitrack till now.

cd burner

I ahave been trying to burn cd's for a year now. I am disabled and i have the Hewlett packard cd writer plus.and i still can't figure it out. where it says to drag the mp3's they don't ever stay. could someone please help me. step by step on how to do this. i have read the book over and over again. i have adaptec easy cd creator.i have tried changing mp3 into wav files then putting them into adaptec but they won't drag. please help . all i want to do is make some oldies

It's really hard to help you step by step over the net. The first thing I would recommend is that you try a different <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/CD_BURNERS/">CD Burning program</a>. You might find <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/AudioCDMP3Studio_MC/">AudioCD MP3 Studio 2000</a> good to start with. It's freeware.

Whatever you do, don't give up. I spent a year trying to tune my telly into a station with no luck. Last night, the solution popped into my head and I was watching the channel within 30 seconds! DOH!

Do you speak french, Parles-tu français ? si oui voici mon probleme. J'ai downloader le logiciel Audio Galaxie et il me manque le driver WS2_32.dll je l'ai downloader sur mon ordi et je l'ai installer sur mon c:\windows\system mais sans succes..peux tu m'aider ?

You need a walkman, pack of batteries and one pretty long dual male connectors (atleast 1ft).. You plug one end to the walkman the other to the mic connector on the sound card. You need to keep the walkman as far away from the coputer as possible. If not, you will record with static (not nice) You will also need this tape recorder.

Whatever you do, don't use the mic connector on your soundcard. It's much too sensitive for this level of signal. Connect the tape deck to the LINE IN.

Hi,

My best guess is that the files u downloaded are
corrputed. That is not unusual. However, u might want to
try another mp3 player software just to test. If it does
the same thing, and its able to play other mp3s well, then
its definetly corrupt song files.

Separating WAV file tracks

Does anyone know of a software tool that can be used to separate tracks on a stereo recorded WAV file (i.e., Drums, Guitar, Vocals, etc)?

It doesn't exist. It is (at present) impossible to separate tracks on
stereo recordings, since there is no way to uniquely identify each
instrument.

I need experienced help to get my mp3 converted files (to wav) to work on the web. It's working on my PC!
MP3 is converted with Media Player (Bonus Pack) and FP2002 is used. Webcomponent (mediaplayer)with link to the wav files.

Anyone knows what's wrong or to do?

Via a website like mp3.com. If you have to ask such a question, then using FTP or IRC to get music would be a nightmare.

Fostex X-12 problems

I recently purchaces the Fostex X-12 Multitracker and have enjoyed it very much. It's very easy to use and small. But now, all of the sudden the sound is not picking up on the first track. I have all the levels how they should be and it records. But when I play it back its very very low and sorta fuzzy sometimes.. not as clear as it had been. Has anyone else had any problems with this certain 4 track. I'm very unhappy about this and I'd like to hope that it is fixable. But i'd like to know what might have caused this.. I just got this thing too..please email me replys.

SONAR multitrack

I have never installed the Guitar thingamy and have the same problem. I can't run standard Pro Audio 9 properly coz I run W2K.

I've uninstalled/re-installed even on a separate HDD. Also, I compared the registry file before and after installation and fiddled with some things but still no go.

I think I'll email them, coz I've got XP on CD ready to go!

I went to <a href="http://www.cakewalk.com/download/SONAR130.asp"> this page </a> to get the updated v1.3 but I had to register first, as though I had purchased the product. This second I am downloading the neccessary files which might just do it.. here's hoping anyhow. will let you know.

Have you installed it before, then removed it? If so, the program will take into account the previous install. As for an unlock code - that's illegal.

Have not installed sonar before, but i have previously installed cakewalk-guitar pro track on trial. would this affect the sonar download?

You've probably hit the proverbial nail on the head. Both trial
versions probably use the same method to determine how long the
program has been installed. Sonar is obviously finding the expired
key from Guitar Pro. Short of a clean install, there's probably
no way around it.

type that into the run box opened from start menu. You should then look for entries in your registry from Guitar pro/cakewalk and delete them. This may remove old key. Backup registry before hand so you can go back should you make a mistake + delete something important.

"Emagic" makes a midi interface (MT4) for usb-equipped notebooks.

Recording via mike to harddrive

Any decent audio recording software (look in the software section) will record from the mic input on your sound card. Just don't expect the quality to be very good.
