You didn't say what kind of computer or operating system
you are using so the best advice is to look in the
download area of this site either in the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/VIDEO_MULTIMEDIA/">VIDEO & MULTIMEDIA</a>
category or by doing a <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/search/">search</a> for <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/htdig/htsearch.cgi?method=and&format=builtin-long&config=htdig&restrict=%2Fsmm%2Fprograms%2F&exclude=&words=video+editing">video editing</a>

EQ

Please tell me "How to EQ guitar chords in the studio.

Awaiting your reply. Thankyou.

Re: EQ

You don't eq Chords as much as the guitar itself.

There is no final ruling on Eq'ing anything. Just some areas that you might want to look at. What they are depends on the sound of the guitar, the type of guitar (acoustic Steel strung, Nylon strung, Electic DI's mic'd... the list goes on).

What guitar are you working with, mic's? recording equipment... Amps? anything?

Hitsquad Update 19 July 2002

I haven't provided a report for the last two weeks due
to suffering from winter bugs down here in Australia so
here's a bit of info on what's been going down...

zZounds.com have become a major new sponsor of this
site and together with their help we are now presenting
a selection of the very best deals they have - and I can
tell you this is proving to be extremely popular with
Hitsquad visitors!

They are also providing a <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/rd/MS_zzounds_ban1_click/rd.pl/?http://www.zzounds.com/giveaway.music?a=adHSsmmA,1a&r=adHSsmmA,1a">$100,000 Gear For Life Giveaway</a>,
unfortunately I'm not allowed to enter the competition :(

We also have Digidesign sponsoring the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/MULTITRACK_RECORDING/">Multitrack Recording</a>
area of this site announcing an excellent new way to record
on your PC by using an external console, Digi 002.

eMedia Music are also sponsoring the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/GUITAR/">Guitar</a> category with a
CD-Rom package that really makes learning and improving your
guitar skills much easier.

We've also been updating the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/">Windows download area</a> and are
working our way through more than 2,500 software listings.

<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/membersonly/?update">Members</a> have been sent the latest Members Only Newsletter
and CD-Rom which in addition to more than 100 programs also
contains over 70 professional royalty free samples and loops,
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/membersonly/?update">click here to join up</a>.

I can also report that the new feature to receive email
notifications whenever someone replies to a message you leave
in this discussion forum has proved to be very successful
with more people receiving answers to questions and getting
on with making music than we've seen here for quite some time.

If you have any suggestions for further improvements please
post them here.

Until next time...

I think the Email notification has made a world of difference. I suspect not everyone clicks the notification box (to the own detriment) but the ones that do seem to come back. It makes sorting through the mails that have been replied to much easier for the likes of me.

sw software for singers

Does anyone know of any programs where you dont need to play an instrument to compose your songs? I see a lot of great stuff like Jammer but you have to punch in chords. Is there something where you can punch in keys for the song and changes? Is there something where you can sing or hum into a mike and it can convert it or compose around it? I remember seeing something called a Melody Maestro in a 1998 Music-in-Motion catalog, but I cant find it anywhere now. Thanks. Please advise.

Good Drum Tracks Possible?

Hey! I need some help. Can anyone recommend a good program or technique for creating good drum tracks that don't cater so much for the dance genre. Any good rock, jazz, pop drum machine programs? I've tried Fruity Loopz, Virtual Drum Machine, and other programs but all seem to be dance focussed.
Cheers

MIDI Tracks

I'm using Micrologic AV by Emagic, and need to find a way to record a single sequence on one track and then change the instrument for a second recording on a separate track without changing the sound of the first.
Is there a way to lock instrument data on a particular track? I don't know where to start looking for answers other than here.

Thanks already,
-Drew C.

Re: MIDI Tracks

I don't see the sense in what you are saying. Are you recording Midi or Audio? Where are the instruments coming from?

If it's audio, then all you need to do is create a new Audio track. If it's midi, then just create a new midi track.

How do you remove certain instruments from the song?

Is it possible to reove just the lead guitar or bass guitar part? If so please tell me if there is any download software that will do this and also remove voice?

How do I change a midi file to a mp3 file?

I would like to change a midi file into a mp3 file using cakewalk or cubase software in order to put my music onto a CD using Windows Media Player.

Thanks

Andy

Re: Midi file format converter

It's down to the application itself. Does it let you 'Export' Audio??

If it's midi only, then you need to get the midi information you have made to play a Midi instrument(s) and record the audio from there. Midi has nothing to do with Audio at all.

Reason Software?

I would like to create music on my computer using existing sound loops and maybe a keyboard. I would like to purchase Propellarheads Reason software, but I was wondering if there is any better choices. I downloaded the Reason demo and it looks very complex. I think it would take me forever to learn it (not having any mixing experience). I'm willing to try to learn it, but somebody might have a suggestion of a simpler or cheaper program that does similar things.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Reason Software?

basically there are simpler programs that do way less...its up to you with how far u want to go with your music. reason has it all. nothing else like it.
