hi guys i found this site it is really intresting but the real thing is that ive always dreamt of becoming the next delta goodrem i sing her songs all the time.when i performed in the west end we done songs like the beatles that was fun.my mum says i have alot of talent but im only 13 yrs old i really do think that this is what my life is based on and that one day i can reach it.i look around and say to my friends this is what iwant to do and some day show them how much ive waited !

I've been recording through my interface using ACID 4.0, everything is recording great, but the problem is is that it's only coming out of one speaker...of course this is because I'm using that one channel. Is there anyway I can duplicate the track (copy it) and paste it or something so that it's on the second channel so it comes out both speakers? I have no clue

It seems to work (without any midi output, but I don't care) and I can see and load all my old .sng files, but can't remember how to save them as .mid files that can be read by Nuendo. I've looked everywhere for the original Voyetra manual, but it's long gone. There doesn't appear to be a save-as command and changing the extension tab to mid doesn't seem to work either. Any hints how to do this?

I don't know how to 'export' your midi data directly
from your old sequencer, however I have an idea that
might work for Windows 95/98/Me - not immediately sure
how you would do it on an NT based system like 2000 or XP if you're running a DOS emulator.

Firstly install a <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/htdig/htsearch.cgi?method=and&format=builtin-long&config=htdig&restrict=%2Fsmm%2Fprograms%2F&exclude=&words=virtual+midi+cable">Virtual MIDI Cable</a> in Windows.

Then if you run the program inside a DOS window, not
booting directly to DOS, the MIDI data should go to
your Windows driver - in this case your virtual MIDI
cable.

You can then set Nuendo to record the sequences from
the virtual MIDI cable.

Have a go and let me know if it works.

That's an interesting twist I hadn't thought about. I'm running XP SP2 on this machine, but I also have an old Win98 box still operational. I'll have a go at it in the next day or so and post my results.

Only just noticed the post - have wanted to reuse some of my own files, too, otherwise I never would have noticed! Wonder after all this time if you'll ever check this window again.

In Voyetra, type F (File menu) then M (Mode) repeatedly to change the mode to ".MID". Then S to save. Use the default settings (Type 1, etc).

isolating bass in song

I'm trying to listen to my cd's and play the bass lines, but I'm having trouble hearing the bass. Is there a way that I can just isolate the bass so that everything else is muted?

You can always try to EQ out as many other frequencies as possible.

Hi, my name is Kimmy and I have been working since I was 13 to become a model or actor. I mean I have been told that it takes perserverence and the want to do it but so far nothing has worked. I belong to an agency but they haven't done anything except make me take classes to become a stronger actor. I could go to the IMTA but I don't have enough money. Everywhere I go seems to be a dead end. I'd eventually like to be a model for abercrombie and fitch, or act in anything really. does anyone have any advice???

Hi my name is Linda and i wanna become a famous pop star. I am a good dancer and almost a very good singer. The type of songs that i like are pop music, rap, hiphop and R$B. My favorite artists are Usher and Michael Jackson. They are my idols. They are both wonderful singers and dancers. At my school, i am doing a project where i wrote my own lyrics and i'm plannig on making a video clip on about it. When it is done i'm plannig on showing it to any music indust ry if they are interested in it on. I feel that i have a lot of talnet and i want the world to know that i do and there are alot of other young teenagers with wonderful talents out there that are trying to show this is what they are made of. I dream to become a pop star and do a duet with Usher and/or Michael Jackson.

First what you should do is decide which career you want! If you want both then you should have a separate plan for both.

Let's take the acting for example. If this is something that you really want to do then you should treat it as such. What you do is make plans for it! I know that there are famous actors that have just went and gone for it without any planning but since you have no clue where to start then I think that you should do some planning for it!

If you are really serious - you will find a way!

What you should do first is take a look at your local and surrounding area - see and assess what resources are already there for you - because I am sure that there are some that you have either overlooked or just can't see.

And since you're on the Internet - you should take advantage of THAT as well. For example I belong to a voice actor mailing list and the guy that runs it gives some of the best advice I have ever seen! I also have an online radio station (as do many others!) which is something that YOU can do too!

You're saying all the things that you can't do but what about the things that you CAN do!

As with anything youshould really start off with a plan. Even though you mentioned above that you will be doing some modeling I'm sure that isn't the only place that you want to model for.

One of the first things that you should do is assess your local area to find all the modeling opportunities available to you. Depending on the results of that then you can find out about the opportunities that are farther away or not local to your area.

If you're really serious about wanting to become a model you should also be "taking notes" and doing the kinds of things that are associated with being a model. If you are underaged then a parent or guardian will have to sign any kind of modeling contract for you so you (and they) should acquaint yourself with contracts as well.

I do business consulting for those that want to start their own business or want to pursue their dream jobs and sometimes people are just not aware of the resources that they have available to them. Some of the things that can be done to help further one's career or business don't necessarily have to involve a lot of money but they WILL require one's time and effort. For instance like I mentioned above you should have some kind of plan for your career. In your case its modeling - what kind of model do you want to be? Runway, print, etc.,? There are things that you should be doing right now even if only it involves writing stuff down!

If you want to be a model and want to continue to be a model for a long time then you should look at the overall picture of what modeling involves - not just the modeling part. I don't say this to discourage you but I do say it to let you know that there is a lot more to it than just modeling.

Some of the most famous models were just "discovered" by someone but not all of them started that way. They made plans and decided and were determined to be models! So make sure you have the desire and determination!

getting a mac for recording and editing sound+music

i am currently looking to buy a computer to use for the sole purpose of recording and editing and creating and downloading and sampling etc. (also email and word and internet access if possible). i am currently a pc user and very able at cool edit pro. i have been told i should definitely get a mac, not a pc. should i? what's the difference? can i use cool edit pro on a mac? should i get a better program that is similar and learn to use that? if so, which one? it also needs to be a laptop, because i will be travelling a lot and needing to record music. It will need to play sound well and be able to record sound. Good lord please somebody advise me! thanks x x

osx 10.3.5 + maudio delta 66 drivers 1.1.6 and 1.1.7 (available only from m-audio.de)

and fcp 4.5 + shake 3.5

delta 66 has become the worst computer-related purchase i've ever made. 10.3.5 update from apple combined with m-audio's 1.1.6 (and 1.1.7) driver updates, cause sporadic, random crashes/locks/audio-stops-working-during-playback/and total system freezes.

because maudio support ignored me (i've bought several maudio cards over the years), i went looking around google. no user support forums at maudio, for good reason! i found many reports about many different maudio cards causing similar problems. therefore, my acidic recommendation:

warning, stay away from maudio -- they sold to avid/digidesign and have just plummeted.

warning, stay away from maudio products. they have become shit.

warning, buy anything else but maudio.

When recording the second track of audio, the prerecorded track records to the new track which creates a doubling sound . Is there something I'm missing?
