Does any software do single-step playback?

Hi all,

I have an ancient DOS notation program called MusicPrinter, and it does something that I really use a lot. You can begin playback of your score, pause it, and then begin pressing the space bar. This advances the playback one note (or chord) at a time, and holds the note (or chord) until you press the space bar for the next one.

It's obviously time to upgrade... but I haven't seen this feature mentioned in any of the sw I've looked at so far. Anybody know what modern package can do this?

Your Sound card and the recording of cassette tapes

Im thinking of putting some of my cassettes tapes to cd. My question is how much of a role does the sound card have in this process. Do i need a really good sound card? or will just a plain jane sound card do? Also whats the best software to use to get the cassettes to cd. Ive been told that Music match is the way to go but it seems like a lot of extras that i dont need i just to record cassettes to cd. any advice on Good, easy to use, quality record type software to use

William is pretty much right. But I've had no problems with the process myself. I've just plugged into the soundcard and let rip with
Cool Edit 2000. Two good programs can be found on <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/wwwboard/messages/74181.html">this page</a>.

Hey Scott,

I've put many tapes onto CD and I've found that the sound quality does not change with different MODERN sound cards. I use Live Drive and its never done me wrong, just make sure you used the correct cables when transfering the Tape (I.E. if you want to keep the tape stereo then used stereo 1/8 or 1/4 cables, or do your self a favor and use an RCA cord). I like using Sound Forge for recording the tapes because I can clean them up dirrectly after copying. Thats about all there is too it, just remember its gonna be a big file so make sure you have lots of processor power or else you'll crash and lose it all.

What Sequencer will do this.....

Im looking for a sequencer that can give me the ability to fade in tracks visually. You know so you see your track and you draw the volume envelopes. I realize that there are many sequencers that do this. But are there any sequencers that will let me do this with filters or any other effects? Perhpas Nuendo 1.5? But i dont know if im gonna spend $2000 yet.

Help me w/ my cakewalk & S80

I have a yamaha S80, and Cakewalk pro Audio, I'm not all that computer literate, but I learn quick. My Question is how do you record, my S80 won't record on the cpu. But I can download sounds unto my keyboard. Please give me step by step intsrtuctions or tell me what I am doing wrong.

Yamaha External Sound Board?

While looking to upgrade my computer sound quality I came across the Yamaha CAVIT System <a href="www.yamaha.com/cavit">www.yamaha.com/cavit </a>. I noticed that the system is 24-Bit 96kHz USB audio playback would be able to connect to my home receiver via optical or RCA cable and let me record on my computer with software that I can download from the site. Also mentioned on the website is that with this unit you can record analog tracks or Internet radio on to the hard drive. You can even save the DSP effects on the recording. They have a current promotion to win a CAVIT system. These systems look like good alternative for upgrading my Laptop's sound card. I’m interested in the DP-U50 or 55. If anyone has additional info or comments on these products please let me know

I am using vst and have an emu aps soundcard.At the moment I only have one output going to my 1604 mackie desk. Is there any way I can have 16 (or near) of my midi channels from vst comming through my desk . Is the delta 10/10 or simular product what I need?

installing music software using linux mandrake 6.5

right basically my problem is this...
i use music software on a regular basis on a win 98 v.2 system but i heard that linux was a lot more stable so i installed mandrake 6.5 i then downloaded some multracking stuff of of hitsquad and burnt it to cd (in windoze) my question is HOW DO I INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE? on my linux system???

This mightn't be a very easy thing to do. There are two reasons. First, your vocal track may occupy the same frequencies as the music. So, you'd end up with a less than perfect result. Secondly, if you want to use this vocal track for anything 'professional' be aware that the sound quality of the file won't be great. MP3 files generally have a lower sound quality and therefore you will end up with a similarly lower quality file.

HP7200 CD Writer

Does anyone know if drivers exist for installing a HP7200 CD Writer on a Windows 2000 Professional machine. I tried installing with the original setup disks but it crashed my machine.

Appreciate any info anyone has on it. Hate to toss my CD burner out.

goto hp.com and select support or drivers to look for latest drivers. Also directcd and easy cd creator does not work get the latest ones or an OEM version via hp's website u need version 4.02 I think.

to setup win2000 u could use internal model via cd bootup if cd-rw is only cd drive onboard. or use external model vai win98/95 upgrade.

what does cool edit pro offer. i have an opportunity to get this for a small fee but, don't know if i need it. i have acid pro 2.0 and sound forge 4.5. also is there a better beat making program than rebirth for making rap music. one more question, what other instrumental programs are there, like rebirth makes drum beats, is there other softwares to create different types of instrument sounds?

Cool Edit Pro is listed on this website under Audio Editors. There is a whole section on drums and percussion and soft synths. Just a click away.

I do not know if it comes for free or not.I did not try to buy it though.I tried the try version but it did not take me anywhere.Just hanged.
