FRUITYLOOPS HELP!!!

I can't seem to figure out why, when using different drumkits, some of them have the playlist feature enabled while others do not.

I enjoy using the 808 drumkit, but I want to use the playlist so that I can customize the entire beat, and in this particular drumkit, the playlist is not enabled.

PLEASE HELP!!!

FRUITYLOOPS HELL!!

People who use FruityLoops have been posting tons of complaints on this site ever since the last few product releases. Maybe FruityLoops just isn't fully completed yet. I remember using the older, smaller version of FruityLoops which seemed to work ok for a while, but would always eventually crash. I got sick of it and switched to Cubasis, Tuareg, Moonfish, Hammerhead, Amen, SoundForge XP, WaveLab Lite, and DDClip Pro. SoundForge and WaveLab I payed for, but the rest I downloaded as functional share/freeware. You can really do the same things without FruityLoops. Besides, there are tons of other programs that excell at audio these days, especially for PC.

I must admit, FruityLoops has a cool name and a great looking interface, but I never could trust it since it kept crashing on me.

To make matters worse, the FruityLoops web site used to have tons of problems working and lots of people couldn't get their online registrations to work. They have probably fixed it up by now, but people like me have long since been scared away.

Quattro causes my PC to hang at bootup

I have a Soyo 6BA+ with 2usb ports. When ever I plug in my M-Audio Quattro (powered up) and reboot, my system hangs after the mem-check or there abouts. Any help would be welcome.

Probably an IRQ conflict...

You most likely have an IRQ (device ID) conflict. Your M-Audio card is probably trying to use the same IRQ as another device. If you have lots of devices connected (or installed for) on your system, you could easily have used up all of your IRQ numbers. Really, even a simple system, only about 2 IRQ's remain free, usually number 5 and number 10, even though either one can be taken up by a soundcard, especially number 5.

Some IRQ's can't be changed, because the system needs them to run the motherboard, the disk drive, your hard drives, your keyboard, etc.

If you have anything that can be gotten rid of, do it. USB allows more devices to be connected without losing IRQ's so if you have a parallel port scanner, for example, switch to a USB port scanner instead.

Also, some devices share IRQ's because they don't usually run at the same time. For example, a modem's IRQ might conflict with another device, but you wouldn't know it unless you tried to get online while the other device was loading.

A good way to kickstart your system into getting different IRQ's is to take things out of their PCI slots, and reinstall them, one at a time. I mean install, reboot, install, reboot, etc.

Since you want to use your soundcard, try taking out all your other junk and leaving the soundcard. You might even want to move the soundcard into another PCI slot. Make sure that the PCI slots are filled in order. It DOES matter.

Another possible issue is that your BIOS RAM cache is corrupted. You might have to have your BIOS reset. To do this, you must first copy down the normal settings onto written paper that you can read. Then you can reset the BIOS. The best way to do this is to remove the lithium battery and disconnect the power supply from the motherboard. You must do this with the power off and with the computer unplugged. If you don't disconnect the power supply from the motherboard (inside) then, resetting the BIOS may not work, because the PC will try to use leftover power from inside the powersupply (near the CPU fan).

I know that this is unpleasant and technical news, but hey... I have had the same troubles myself.

If you don't want to have to worry about this junk again, get this book:

recording cassettes

is there a device to purchase that enables you to record your cassettes onto your computer?

It's called a soundcard. The rest is up to you.

Read before you buy.

Re: virus effected our Cequadrat just!burn program

You should first focus on getting rid of viruses, trojan horses, and worms. Make sure you check inside your archived files too, such as .ZIP, .RAR, .GZ, .CAB. You will have to decompress these files to check them. If it gets too difficult to check them all, erase the ones you don't need. I suggest totally erasing and reformatting your hard drives and them reinstalling from commercial CD-ROM's only. Then spend a few days just setting up the system to act properly and display everything.

There are plenty of CD-burning programs out there. If you don't want to get a virus, buy something for cheap from a store. There are lots of CD programs around for less than 80 dollars. I'll bet there's something great around for 30 dollars. Personally, I used to use Exact Audio Copy. It's technical, but very stable and compatible. It also has nice testing features.
If you need something much easier to use, keep browsing online. Check your computer's CD-ROMs. Maybe there is something that came with your system.

Re: virus effected our Cequadrat just!burn program

Go to Google and serch for "adaware" this software will help you delete trogans and such and it is pretty easy to use.

HOW TO REMOVE VOCALS

The Thompson Voice Eliminator is the most well known machine for this job. It can virtually take any recording and eliminate the lead vocal. It is a little expensive - I think about $1200. Their number is 770 - 482 - 4836. They are in Georgia.

This is what i got off of the Sweetwater(.com) forums page.

Dealing with ADPCM format

Greetings,

Please which tools could I use to convert ADPCM files (.ADP extension) to WAV ? Any suggestions would be gladly welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation

If you are using a mac, you can use SoundApp. It is freeware, and very stable. It can convert most formats, but is currently limited to 16bit 44.1kHz, even though it can be set to leave higher formats alone.
On a PC, SoundForge is really really good at handling tons of formats. There is a cheap version of SoundForge called SoundForge XP. I believe it is only about 30 dollars. The newest version of SoundForge is very powerful. It's a little bit buggy about sound file durations and exact-bit copies, which makes me nervous about it's accuracy and fidelity, but it's overall pretty useful.

Wish to mix dance exercise tapes with sameBPM & no breaks

I am seeking software to accomplish the following . . .

Record songs from CD's I own, joining them without breaks and at a constant BPM (beats per minutes), even if it means slowing down a song or speeding up one to create a constant BPM, for 60 minutes throughout the mix, so they can be used for exercise classes that go for 60 minutes without breaks at the same tempo of movement.

Thus, the product would need a BPM measurement system, or some type of constant to speed up and/or slow down to a standard bpm throughout the mix.

Can your product help me do this?

You computer is slowing YOU down.

SoundForge has BPM & loop tools as well.
There are plenty of BPM calculators out there as freeware. Still, why don't you just ask some DJ's what are some good songs that have the same BPM. DJ's typically pay attention to BPMs and you could save yourself a lot of hassle on the computer. DJ's typically use 12" vinyl LP's on players with variable speed controls. That's how it got started. Not with computers and stuff. Actually, it's often faster to do that way, and many good albums only cost from 47 cents to 5 dollars. You would be foolish not to consider the old fashioned way first.

changing bpm of music

Hi,
I need to change (and burn to CD) the bpms of songs
and whole CDs. I purchased Plasma, but no success. I have
changed the tempo, but the beat that I hear is still
the original. I can increase the speed by changing the
pitch, but I need specific BPM (128 and 132). Thanks for your help!

S/PDIF question

I have 2x synthsisers and a drum machine routed thru a mixer then into the crappy little line in jack on my soundcard, can i use the SPDIF ports instead? if so how?
Im not entirely sure what S/Pdif is or what its for
Cheers
Dan

Re: S/PDIF question

Sony/Philips Digital Interchange Format (or something to that effect)

You have a digital input/output. This means that you can import or export audio without adding audible noise. You can also use this data stream as a raw timecode source.

If you get anything with an analog input and a SPDIF output, you'll be able to convert your audio to digital and get it into your machine with these ports. It could help you, but only if the new device's analog to digital converters are better than your computer's. Some multieffects units have SPDIF i/o. Digital mixers do. Some stereo receivers do. Most standalone CD-recorders do. Some minidisc recorder deck units do. DAT recorders do. Most professional soundcards do. Standalone digital audio converters do.

Good luck.

Re: S/PDIF question

The S/PDIF connector is for feeding digital information into the soundcard, the idea being to bypass the analogue to digital converter. Most hi-fi gear has a digital output, either optical or electrical. It's unlikely that your mixer will have a digital output.

Why not record the synths and drum machine onto the PC using a sequencer and do the mixing then.

Auto Wah plug in

I am interested in programming my own plug-ins, but I don't know nothing about the effect of auto wah. What i want is information (an adress on the web for example) about how does it work and how can i program the autowah effect. Any information you could send to my e-mail adress.Thanks.

It's not as easy as it seems

Auto-Wah is basically an EQ (equalisation) circuit which is controlled by the amplitude of the audio signal it affects. The rest is just fine tuning controls and variations on that theme.

Often, programming kits are named SDK. That stands for Software Developer's Kit. FTP download sites will often have a directory called /dev/, too. That stands for developer, as in software developer.

I would try a keyword search for "SDK" and ("VST" or "DirectX" or "TDM")

Also, check out the pages at Stanford University. They have deep digital audio courses there at the college level.

keyboard chords automatic

is there a program like retro as-1 that can show you all the chords when you press a key on the virtual keyboard. i'm not a musician, and i really did love that software. i just cant get it to run on win xp. i know there has to be a small shreware program, or something i can buy that does this. help?

CD Burners compatiblity

Can anyone suggest a cd burner compatible with the Roland VS-1880 that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Thanks

Re: CD Burners compatiblity

Nope. However, if your VS-1880 has a digital output, then you could buy a stand-alone CD-recorder for about 240 dollars and just play into the CD-R digitally. That would probably be the cheapest and most reliable way to go. If you go the Roland-compatible route, it will cost you and arm and a leg. Check out...

Strick a match, set a fire & throw in your CD.
You are not coming back to check for reply anyway.
I don't think anyone will bother giving you a serious reply.
Just in case you do come back, pls pls pls let us know
