How to burn mpga audio files onto a cd! ANSWER PLEASE ASAP!

I am trying to burn a mpga audio file onto a CD-R recordable cd. I really need help, asap. If anyone could help me I would really appriciate it! Thanks.

Re: How to burn mpga audio files onto a cd! ANSWER PLEASE ASAP!

: I've found (by chance) that renaming the files as ".mp3" does the trick. I just renamed one file and played it on the WM Player and it did work. It was an audio book. Dunno about the quality of music stuff, but I guess it's worth trying.

Re: Hello Jason. (Amendment #31)

Hello,
I just wanted to say that if you take out bilingual classes out then you will be taking people's freedoms away. I am Mexican and was in bilingual classes for a while and when I started all english in 8th grade it was hard for me.
But now people want to take away bilingual classes to make it harder on non english speaking children. If they don't know atleast a bit of english they will fail year after year. I would hate to see kids go without being able to learn more of their native language. It will be a complete mess. I understand that it will work for kids who are stuck in bilingual classes and being very good at english . But why take away bilingual classes when kids will not do good in all english classes?
You can vote to take them away but when thing start going wrong (if it is passes) then just think that it might of been partly your fault for not thinking about other people who don't know english.
If you vote to keep it then i will be eternally greatefull. If you are an english speaker only then I understant that you might not want bilingual classes but please think of others. Especually for those who don't know a bit of english.
You may know english and say that it doesn't matter to you, but at the end it will because you will be with kids who dont understand a word you say. This will affect someone either way,but mostly if bilingual classes are taken away. Just put it to the test. It will be bad.
Just think before you choose. And hopefully i hope that i touched you a bit. Because i know how it is by going from bilingual to just english. And also think of how it would be if you went to a place were you don't know their lenguage. Don't you think you would hate it? I getting ride of bilingual classes just a way to get ride of imigrants? if it is, it is a bad way.

Instructions for dummies

Nero came installed on my computer as well as Windows XP...All I'v done is copy cd's so far. Does anyone have a simple step one, two, three how to get a song like Double Shot, Anytime At All, Be There?

Re: Instructions for dummies

Download and install a file-sharing program.

How do compress mp3's so I can fit more on a cd.

: I hear of cd's that hold several dozen songs in MP3 format. I've heard you could get 80 to 100 songs actually. How is this done. Or is this a confusion between cd-r and a dedicated MP3 player??
I would also like to know how this is done. Thanks for any help in advance. Gene

<<ECCLES>> you can compress mp3 but the quality of the track goes worse u can make an mp3 cd wer u can store 700mb of mp3 on also mp3 players u can add up2 30-50 songs on

Re: How do compress mp3's so I can fit more on a cd.

Yes, it's quite easy. You should be able to fit over 100 MP3s, encoded at 128kbps, on a CD. Burn as a data CD. However, it will only play in your CD drive on your PC (some DVD players too). You can also play these MP3s on your MP3 player, depending on how much RAMyou have to store the songs.

If you want to burn a CD that plays in a stereo system etc - then you have to burn an audio CD. I use Nero for this. You will only get 80 minutes of music at most on this kind of disc.

Re: how can i put mp3 files in 1.44mb floppy

Hello i am shailesh here
Hey dear pls Download DIET MP3 & convert.
Go Option & select Mobile device QUALITY Mobile type
SOUND Stereo & Convert it.

Editing, Time Machine Tricks (courtesy of Dr. Who), and other ta

A few ways to increase MP3 encoding efficiency (depends upon the encoder):

1) reduce the dynamic range of the audio (broadband amplitude compression)
2) reduce the stereo width (collapse to mono a bit / pan L and R towards mono)
3) reduce the length of the song (time compression)
4) reduce the length of the song by pitch shifting up (or editing the sample rate header data before converting to MP3)

#4 is interesting You could shift up the pitch of a WAVE or AIFF by setting its rate from 44.1khz to something like 46kHz. After you resample it to 44.1, then you can convert to MP3. Just beware that the BPM will be faster, and the pitch will be a little higher. You can usually only do this if you can directly edit the sample rate of a file without having to do resampling or pitch processing just to change the rate.

You can also do some editing. Most music is very repetitive, especially electronic dance music. Lots of songs can have a few measures cut out without being noticeably different. Songs with repeat and fade out endings are one example. Long solos are another example. House and trance are probably the easiest to edit down to size.

Most songs only need about 4 measures of each kind of riff to sound natural, and even that tends to become boring and predictable fast. Clever editors will sometimes cut a riff down to 2 measures instead just to bring in the changes faster, and to add interest. You could do this too, with the added benefit of more CD space. I started doing this years ago for cassette recordings when my songs would get cut off at the end of the tape. I found that could find out how long of an ending I needed, and then just splice on the ending over the cut-off version. With computers this is so much easier. It's also good for learning how to do basic remixing.

Really all you need for most songs is 5 kinds of sections: Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge/Break/Solo, and Ending. Even for instrumental music, this is usually enough to get you by if you must cut things down to a minimum. This means that if you only have 5 loops or riffs, if they can be used as such, then you can create a whole song in a few minutes. Sure, you can do better with more variety, but most music has lots of extra space.

Most songs only need to be around 3 minutes long to sound natural enough. 4 minutes is about standard, and 5 minutes is about the upper limit. 6 minutes or longer is starting to get experimental and less mainstream.

A 3 minute song could be comprised of five 36 second long segments, or ten 18 second segments. As you are chopping songs down to size, if you deal with building blocks around 10 to 30 seconds long, then you won't have much trouble.

Another tip is this. Given any music phrase one & 1/2 minutes long, if it has at least 2 flavors in it, all you have to do is paste it down twice to have a Verse/Chorus/Verse/Chorus type song that's already 3 minutes long. Paste in an intro, a bridge, or solo and an ending, and you've made a really quick song.

I don't think this is a very creative way to work, but it takes the sting out of trying to make songs long enough, and for you could be used to make songs short enough.

It's not hard to do though.

Gina,

If you want commercial music, either go and buy it or run some spy ware like Kazarr or Morpheus and get it that way.

This is not an email service in any respect but a forum of sorts that deal with peoples music issue. Posting 'Please reply to my email' is outside of forum etiquette (ANYWHERE) so please learn a little respect for the future..

Re: need to know

Software is only part of what you will need. What computer do you have?

If its a Mac (hey, it's all I know) then plug the VCR's output to a video and audio input on the mac. I have done this myself using a Digital video camera (as receiving analogue information from the VCR) and then the output of the camera to a Firewire input on the Mac. If you don't have a firewire input and something to convert the information from a VCR to digital for the computer, then you will need to buy a video import card that can compress video in real time. Run something like iMovie and import the footage. Edit it if need be.

Go to export and export for VCD in either PAL or NTSC. Once the file is exported, run Toast and then press Burn VCD. Insert the disk to be burnt and the go and make some lunch

This is how I would do it. If you use a Windows box, then it could be a different experience, I don't know. The idea is the same though. Import the video to digital information. Use a program that converts and burns a CD to a VCD, (many of the main CD burning programs must do this now).

Cubase VST32 v5.1 audio problem

Whenever I play an imported audio file (wav) in Cubase, the file is played too fast. (eg. 62 second file is played in 57 seconds). How the hell do I fix this?

Re: Cubase VST32 v5.1 audio problem

try checking your sampling rates.

Re: Cubase VST32 v5.1 audio problem

Macintosh Restration Applactions Any Info Welcome

Macintosh Restration Applactions
Looking for a Mac applaction to use for taking out scratches and hiss, for audio files

Don't mind freewhere/sharewhere or i'm willing to purchest

Any Info Welcome

Personally, I suggest Parametric EQ and Noise Gating.

D\Noise (difficult to understand, but sometimes gets rid of noise quite well)
SoundSculptor II (has a pencil tool for redrawing parts of waveforms)
DSoundPro (has a parametric EQ)
DINR (for ProTools) this has been around for years, and used to be the #1 noise reduction tool on a mac. It has been copied by almost everyone else. If you can find a copy of this, or if it comes with ProTools Free, then you are very lucky.

D\Noise is freeware
SoundSculptor II 2.0 is crippleware, but there are ways around that.
DSoundPro is also crippleware, but you won't hear that from Inpher, MoonDark, or anybody else like that.

But that is a topic best discussed elsewhere.

If you use a noise gate, set the attack to be no less than 7 ms and the release to be no larger than 100 ms. From that point, experiment and adjust.

Sometimes you can even use VST plug-ins with dynamically-controlled filters for noise reduction.

Another useful tip: If you merely reduce the noise at the beginning, end, and quiet parts of a song, you can often get away with doing nothing more. Just be sure to crossfade between affected and unaffected sections, or cut edits

Re: Macintosh Restration Applactions Any Info Welcome

The only one I have payed any attention to is Raygun

http://www.arboretum.com/S20_products/S22_raygun/S222PRODINFO.html

from Arboretum systems. There are more than likely others but Arbotetum have made some of the most impressive effects for the Mac for some years now..

sample rates

I think I made it quite plain from the start that it is the vocal that goes haywire. When i said I use cakewalk what I meant was that I only prepare MIDI files through Cakewalk and then record them back through Cool Edit Pro at a sample rate of44.1. Then when I have recorded all the music I lay the vocal s downover the top. this is when I run into trouble. Everything seems to work fine until I save the session. Nexrt time I run that session the vocals seem to go to triple time while the music stays at the same rate. Everything is recorded at the same sampole rate in Cool Edit Pro. I have tried isolating just the vocal track but it still tells me that it is recorded at 44.1 and I have found using the sample rate conversion in the software has not fixed the problem. I don't know what will?

BPMs, REX files, Sample rates, PPQ, 1440 as a magic number.

Perhaps it's an issue of the BPM. I know that Logic Fun, Cubasis, and other multitrack programs can do odd things to arrangements if there are BPM adjustments. On many such programs, changing the BPM after an audio file is loaded shortens or lengthens the audio file(s) or changes their speed. Other times the timing is corrupted by quantization or grid settings.

This is an aside, but 44.1 doesn't cope too well with metric rhythm. 44.1 doesn't divide evenly into most meters at many BPMs. Interestingly, 96 and 48 kHz does a bit better. When you think about PPQ (MIDI pulses per quarter note) and the like, it makes sense that more advanced MIDI timing systems use numbers like 1440 as clock pulses. 1440 is evenly divisible by 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,12,16,32,60, and 96 to name a few integers.

In fact, 1440 is a useful number in all kinds of memory and timing math.
This is not so much an issue for you, probably. But if your sequencer is trying to split up 44100 samples per second into corresponding quantities of notes in a musical measure, it could account for a little bit of the timing errors.

Another possible issue is if you are confusing mono and stereo files.
On a few programs, a stereo file read as a mono file has a difference in speed.
Similar errors can happen if a 16bit program reads a 20, 24, or 32 bit file.
I have intentionally induced some of these errors via experimentation using SoundHack on the mac.

If you are meddling with REX files, I can only imagine how tricky it gets.
REX files are designed to have stretchy BPMs and durations and speeds, so watch out if you are mixing REX files and other file formats.

Re: 1440 as a magic number

Nevermind the coincidences, satellite frequencies, UN Resolutions and Alex Trebeck...I was serious about the musical applications. The other junk just came along for the ride, or to spoof me, or maybe i'm mildly clairvoyant. At any rate, I believe in Flower Power. Too many cooks in the kitchen spoils the broth. --Taran Wanderer.e

Try here..

http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=14

What your doing makes more sense to me now. I still can't figure out the issue though. If the song works BEFORE you save it, then you could at least record the audio output from the computer and call that the song file. Not a solution but a temporary fix..

Best of luck

PC mp3 played on Mac won't work - any tips

Hi,
I have an mp3 that I created on a pc using cool edit pro2 and have emailed it to a friend who uses a mac. She can't play the mp3 file.

why would this be? I was wondering if I should save it in another mp3 format (if there is such a thing) that the Mac might be happier with?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
shaun

Re: PC mp3 played on Mac won't work - any tips

Should work. Tell her to drag the file onto Quicktime's icon and see if that works. If not, the file has been corrupted. If she doesn't have a Quicktime Alias (she should know what this is) on the desktop, then it's recommended. If she is using OSX, then the Quicktime Alias will be in the Dock.

I have lost count of the amount of Mp3 files I have received from both Mac and Window Box owners and I have only ever had one problem.

Go here and download the converter program:

I find it works well.

There are programs to convert midi file formats but that would involve looking around the file area here under midi or format convertors...

Good luck

Creating an internet friendly audio file

Hi all,

My friend's Roland digital studio seems capable only of burning an audio cd file. I don't seem to be able to copy said file to my computer, except via media player. Said copied file won't play when downloaded to another computer: ...licensing something or other.

Please, how (preferably simply!) might I manipulate this file of my own song so that it may be downloaded freely?

Thank you very much.

David

Re: Creating an internet friendly audio file

Media Player is massaging the back of the music industry to the point that they end up restricting you from doing what you want with your 'own music' on the premise that it 'might' be someone elses and your stealing it.

Walk hand in hand with corporations like MS and the Music industry and get stung every time..

Use an open protocol like Mp3 and be done with it. There are tons of encoders out there and available on this site for download.

If your computer has a SP/DIF input on the sound/audiocard and the Roland has an SP/DIF output, then gain yourself some recording software from this site and record the music straight from the Multitracker in the digital domain. You'll lose no quality.

Rimmer.

p.s. don't use software you expected to use without serious question.. Sad world...

burning c d ?

How do you burn a c d to a cd?

Re: burning c d ?

Do you mean, how do I copy a CD to another CD?

What software do you have for burning CD's?

That software will either allow you to copy from CD drive to CD drive or from one CD drive (being the burner) to the same CD drive. The last option is manually ripping an image of a CD and then burning it to a blank CD.

To be honest, CDRW burning software these days takes all the thinking out of it for you. If you using a Mac, then use Roxio's Toast... It's simple to use and will burn anything from Data CD's to Video CD's and DVD's
