Re: Audio Delay

In the record options window there should be a setting for "record offset" measure the delay from the guitar with the delay to the drums, and enter this number in the record offset before the next time you record. Everything should line up then (unless you are a little out of time ;-)

To fix the guitar part you should be able to unlock it and just move it.

: I am recording in cubase, I have a drum track and a bass track already down, I record my guitar part on top of it but when I play it back there is obviously a slight delay in the audio being recorded as my guitar track is slightly out of time with the other other two tracks. Is there any way to retify this or alternativley to edit the audio part and bring my first note back to the first beat of the bar?

Re: blues boogie piano

: Hi ,

Are you looking for PIANO Boogie ?
I may still have a few of my old books around .
It's my favorite kind of piano music as I was inspired to play by hearing a Boogie Woogie barrel house blues piano player about 25 years ago and I still play that stuff all the time.
You can incorporate Boogie Blues piano into most music.
I also learned to play by ear by listening to some Deep Purple and the Doors.
Get back to me if you still cant find what your looking for , I may be able to help you out when I find my books .
I'll just scan them .

rec classical guitar on computer

Hi ,
I just want to record a few pieces on a classical guitar on computer , i have a cheap mic, and programs like cool edit pro , wavelab , can i expect to get decent enough quality for this ?
thanks so much tak

Re: rec classical guitar on computer

What you consider decent quality is more than likely different to what I would consider decent quality. How can someone assess what might sound 'decent' when all the information you give on your recording chain is "Cheap Mic"?

Get yourself a decent small or large diaphragm condensor mic, something like a FMR RNP, a VTB1 or even an M-Audio Audiobuddy, some decent cables, learn a good acoustic guitar mic'ing technique, get a decent audio card and then you'll have a decent chance.

Re: rec classical guitar on computer

Rimmer is right on. My favorite "decent" mic for acoustic guitar is the MXL-1006, or the MXL-2000. Both around 100.USD but definitely more quality then you could expect for the price. I use a Behringer mixer for the phantom power and mic pre, and an SB Live for the sound card. This sort of setup is good for most listener, but pro audio people, could definitely pin point the differences in audio quality, and a casual listener may be able to tell you "it doesn’t sound that good" But for the money it's a decent set up, and It's fun to lay stuff down this way.

Convert RealMedia to WAV

Forgive if this is a repeat. Can someone suggest a site to download a (free) program to convert .rm to .wav? I've downloaded "Stars & Stripes" as a Real Media file that will play in my Windows Media Player, but I want to put it (wav) as a background in my e-mail. Suggestions, please.
Thanks for this site! --Jeanne

cakewalk guitar tracks 2

we recorded a guitar track then we tried recording a vocal on another track-BUT- the guitar track was recorded with the vocal on the same channel-and was left on it's original track untouched. There was no way to undo it- it would have erased the vocal. We were not trying to bounce-we want everything on it's own track. Can anyone help?

Re: cakewalk guitar tracks 2

Before recording you need to make sure you have an empty track selected as the record destination. Also, I belive cakewalk has a non-destructive multitrack meaning that any time you record it goes into it's own file. The multi track just referneces that file. When you "record over" a used track, the original wave file still exists on your computer, it is just behind the new recorded track. If you move the track you just recored to another track you should be able to see and hear the old track. That is the way Samplitude has worked since it's birth back in the eightys. I think the other major multitracks have caught up to this.

Thanks,
I will keep that in mind. Turns out that while going for the graphic eq I hit combine-But it didn't notify us of that in history or any other notice like a light or check mark.
So after checking EVERYTHING again I clicked combine and recorded a new track- Problem solved. But if it happens again I've got your help on file. Thanks again

Hello Keith

I've removed those posts. Please don't lose your faith in humanity. Your answer was quite sensible.

cheers
Geoff

Thanks

Geoff, my sincerest thanks for doing that, I greatly appreciate it..
It's great to see you guys act quickly on these things :)

It was a very nasty & vindictive post indeed....
No, of course I haven't lost the faith, I've learned a bit of a lesson by it alright...

The one redeeming factor is that at least the target of the abuse became quickly aware of it and thus minimsed the grief for them.

PS: Rimmer, thank you also :)

I looking for someone to show me the ropes in recording through the PC. I am a guitarist and a quick learner. I have access to most multitrack recording software, but not sure where to start or how to start. Are there any classes or tutors in the West/North Yorkshire area that anyone knows of. Audio editor

Does anyone know of an audio editor that will divide tracks/files into increments automatically? i.e. I input "divide this hour-long spoken word file into 5 minute segments", and it simply renders the individual files without having to create separate locate points.

Yes there are a number of programs on this site that
can turn a monophonic instrument liket trumpet into
scores or midi - try these searches:
