software choice

I would like to find the easiest software to use that will allow me to add parts of songs and other sounds together to make one song. Preferably one that doesn't have a huge manual. All I need to do is cut and paste parts of songs together, speed them up, and add some sound effects in here in there in the song.

thanks

Re: software choice

Try starting with <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SonicFoundryAcid/">ACID</a>

Opcode Studio 128x (Windows XP Drivers)

I have just switched from using Win 98 to Win XP (home edition). Windows XP is not detecting the drivers for my Opcode Studio 128x midi interface, the software is running in compatabilty mode for Window 98. Where would I be able to get hold of the drivers for Windows XP?

Re: Opcode Studio 128x (Windows XP Drivers)

There is a new driver for the 128x from Opcode for Windows XP, but it is not written by opcode, it's a third-party-driver, you can get it right here:

<a href="http://www.x-pressive.nl/opcode/" target="drive">http://www.x-pressive.nl/opcode/</a>

AFAIK, Opcode didn't develop any x86 drivers past Win'98.

cost

Is this software "free" or is there a hidden cost which
I cannot see?
js

Re: cost

Some software on this site is free, while most do require some sort of payment for extended use. Freeware is obviously free, while shareware, demos and trials ultimately require payment if you want to fully use them.

Need advice

Dear Sirs, I heard of a program where you can take a track of a song and completely eliminate one of the instruments such as guitar and leave the rest of the song intact to jam along with. Can you send me any information you might have on such a device or software. Thanks, Greg Shepard(yahner13@msn.com)

Re: Need advice

I am afraid no software like this exists.

Geoff's answer is correct for the USA, however in some
jurisdictions like Australia Copyright automatically
exists in any copyrightable original work you create
and you do not need to register your copyright in
order to be able to enforce your rights at law.

So, if you live in a country outside the USA you should
find out what your local copyright laws require.

cakewalk

mix guitar and vocals,I am looking for a program to mix guitar and vocals. That is all I need right now. I have never mixed tracks before and want something simple.

Best Notational Software for a Kurzweil PC88

What is the best and easiest software that I can use
to transcribe / notate in real time Jazz mprovisations made on my Kurzweil PC 88, into a G-4 I-Mac?

After they are notated, my only additional need would be go back into the improvisations and make more finite adjustments.

Beyond the software, what additional software or
hardware is required to accomplish this and get it operational?

Thanks, KS

Ear Training

Hello,
I'm still starting out on the guitar and spending a long time with my scales to try and figure this thing out as much as possible. It's difficult but I'm getting results however I am still moving round the fretboard with a mental map of which letter is on each fret. What I would like to do is get my ear tarined better to learn more intuitevly (not a clue how to spell that!).

Ideally what I would like is a program that throws a sound at me and then I have to choose from a list of notes that it might be, like a sound quiz, and thus develop that ear a bit over a period of time. Anyone who understands what I mean and knows other good ways of ear training then please give some advice.

Thankyou.

Making Karaoke disks

I love to sing some very
old songs from operettas and can't find them on commerically available Karaoke disks. Is there any way I can remove the vocals from my old records and copy the results to a CD in a Karaoke format. It would also be great if I could input my own graphics for the words.
Thank you,
David
