MIDI - PROBLEMS !

Hi, can some one help my to solve this midi problem :
I load a midi file into a sequencer,(Dig.Orch.Plus),
and at the end of the midifile is an "fade out".
How can i delete the "fade out" ,so i can have the full volume of the midifile till the end ?
Any one with an answer , THANKX !

Peter

Re: MIDI - PROBLEMS !

I'm not familiar with that particular sequencer, but I think I know where your problem is.

Every midi sequencer has a place where you can edit controller data. Fade out data is probably in the volume controller. Midi volume is measured on a scale from 0 to 127. Find the controller section of your sequencer and go to point where the fade out occurs. You will see either a graphical representation of the fade or you will see a bunch of numbers descending down to zero. There should be some way to delete that data once you find it.

If the fade is not in the volume controller, then it will be in the velocity controller. This describes how hard each note is hit and also goes from 0 to 127. If the fade out is here you will notice each note has a progressively smaller number. To fix this just make all the notes the same volume they were before the fade out started.

How to burn/record only part of a track from a cd or wav?

I am trying to complete a slide show presentation for school and need to create a cd to go along with it, but I only need parts of the songs I chose. How can I burn only part of a track? Is there software available to download? Please help! Thanks.

Re: How to burn/record only part of a track from a cd or wav?

You'll have to cut the track prior to burning. If you convert all the tracks you need to WAV format, A program such as Cool Edit will allow you to cut off parts you don't need. Save the edited file and burn it to CD.

Music recording

If I really want to start and learn how to record using a computer software, where should I really start. Especially I have very little knowledge of recording studios and how recordings are downe etc.

asking for help for the name of a song

A song has been haunting me for years. I don't know the name or the artist or very many words. It is sung by a female and in the video she is singing like a letter or something to her mother and she is shown on a tv in a house in which her mother is going around vaccuuming. But her mother apparently can't see her on the tv. When she screams some of the words her image shakes on the tv. I think the first words are 'mother mother'. I think this is an impossible request but if anyone know please post it here or email me. thanks

Mother, mother. Can you hear me...?

Edit old records to CD

Well I thought I needed advice on doing this. I believe I can get through the process, but want help on the best, easiest, and cheapest software. I have Adaptec Easy CD 4 and the upgrade to 5, which indicates it will do it is about $79 and another program Forge??? XP is about $69. Any suggestions or is there something better, Charles

Re: Edit old records to CD

If you've got a soundcard, you can do it for practically nowt. Easy CD 4 will do - I use it to compile all my CDs. Get hold of a program like Cool Edit from the Net. Feed the tape out from your amplifier into the soundcard and use Cool Edit to record each track as a WAV file. Then, use Easy CD 4 to burn the WAV files onta a CD.

Re: Downloading music to a CD burner HOW

First question is what software came with the CD burner (possibly Nero or Easy CD Creator). If not, you'll need one or the other to handle the burning process (it will also look after CD duplication).

When you download music from the internet, it depends on what format it's in. If it's an MP3, then a program like CDex will convert it to WAV format, which can then be burnt onto a CD and played in a normal CD player.

If you have any further questions, mail me and I'll help if I can

I like to download all the mp3 files first onto my hard drive. Then when I have about 20 songs ready I open the CD burner. The top window of most burners will contain the songs you want to burn. It should have a browser to allow you to access the mp3 files. I usually have them all in a directory ready to load onto the burner.

When the top windo is ready with all the songs you want, you can drag and drop them into the bottom window. There will be a counter keeping track of the disk space or time left. A 680 Mb disk will hold 74 minutes or about 20 songs.

You can also arrange the songs in the bottom window in the order you want to hear them play. This is done by dragging and dropping within the bottom window.

When you are done, click on the Burn CD button or equivalent on your software.

You can burn at different speed rates (i.e. 1X, 2X, 4X etc.) You can either burn right away without testing or test first and burn after. I usually just burn without testing.

Re: Downloading music to a CD burner HOW

The only problem is that you won't be able to play the CD on a CD player. You have to convert
the MP3 to WAV format if you want to do this.

VS-840 to PC

I just installed a zip drive in my PC. The problem is, that I am trying to convert songs from my VS-840 to my PC. The files are .VR8. What are .VR8 files? and how do I convert them to .WAV?

Bill> I have the same problem with my Roland BR-8 eight track recorder. I am yet to find conversion software for the Roland VSS format. However I did purchase a VS-840GX which has a built in .wav converter. It works but takes forever to convert one file. I spent a solid hour on a simple piano piece that was 1 1/2 minutes in length. The conversion process requires flip flopping of your zip disk in and out of the drive. I would not recommend this unit. I am sending mine back. If you find conversion software, I would greatly appreciate a return mail. Thanks.... Frank

Inexpensive mac music programs?

Hi there,
I'm a relatively new iMac user, formerly a PC user. I'm seeking an INEXPENSIVE, solid performimg Digital Audio/MIDI sequencer program, (ie, Power Tracks Pro, Voeytra's Digital Audio Performer, etc.), for the Mac OS.
What's up with this? Why are their tons of Window applications, as the two mentioned above, but zero for the Mac? I was under the impression that if you want to do digital audio...go Mac. Well I don't have the pockets for a 2X G4, but I do have an iMac and I need some software I can afford.
Can anyone help?
My wife and kids thank you in advance.

Sincerely, vid1616@mac.com

Re: hiii,andy and all

First thing is to check along the back panel for either two or three MIDI sockets (IN, OUT and THRU, although THRU may be missing). If they're there, you'll need to buy a MIDI interface. Some are external and others are based on a card which slots in like a sound card. The choice is up to you.

Have a look at http://www.tracertek.com/midi_products1.htm

mono to stereo

Hi
Is there any way to convert mono format to stero format

Thanks

Re: mono to stereo

: Hi
: Is there any way to convert mono format to stero format

Once something is mono there's no good way to separate it to stereo.
About the only thing you could do to achieve a stereo effect is to EQ the right and left channels differently.
