Re: Searching for Media Vision drivers

: I am in search of the drivers for a Media Vision card with FCC ID: IXW-PAS16NS. Can anybody help me?

Go to driverguide.com there are DOS, Win9x-ME drivers there.

PRO AUDIO 16 LMSI - 650-0082-03-C Can anybody help me?

Re: Searching for Media Vision drivers

Hello! I`m also searching for the exact driver, can anybody help me?

Re: Searching for Media Vision drivers

You can find them at http://www.rhcomputers.com/drivers.htm. Click on 'Sound Cards', and scroll down about 2 screens. You will find only 16 bit drivers - they never made 32 bit ones, so they may or may not work in a Win9x, 2000, or xt environment. Good luck - I got many hours of service from my PAS16 card, and still use it in one of my backup computers!

I dont quiet understand what you mean. Do you mean that the
last few seconds of the song are cut off? If so, one simple
solution, which might and most likely not the most
efficient solution, but you can add a few seconds of silence
to the end of the wave files, that way its the silence
that will be cut off. Also, check your burning software.

What is the easiest way to correct "too loud" or "too soft" musi

Am I the only one to notice that commerial studio CDs are burned at volume levels that are all over the map. All I want to do is correct the worst offenders in my CD collection, so that when I put my 100 CD player on random I won't have to keep worrying about ajusting the volume up and down. What program should I run the CDs through before reburning? At what point is the releveling done: during ripping? As a AIFF or MP3 file? Or during the Toasting process? Is there a good target setting? Thanks!

Like Hish said...

Normalising will adjust the level of the audio to just below digital clipping which means that it will increase the audio to it's loudest point before distortion occurs. This is usually done on each track individually and can take some time although the process is as easy as loading it into an audio editor and the selecting Normalise.

The problem is that the perceived volume is often to do with the type of music and the eq'ing on the CD's themselves. There is a law in England that states that TV commercial breaks cannot be louder than the shows they break up. Cheekily though, the engineers boost certain mid frequencies to brighten the sound of the commercials, to get your attention basically. I have always thought that this is increasing the overall volume of the commercials, which it is... but they seem to get away with it anyway..

The point is, Normalising doesn't solve everything but it's the most powerful solution for the computer user.

On the Mp3 thing... DON'T rip Mp3 if you are burning to a music CD that will work only with standard CD's. There is no benefit to ripping Mp3 for this type of work as two things happen.

1. You reduce the quality and dynamic range of the audio.
2. You increase the time it takes to process a CD as the Mp3 has to be converted back to an uncompressed .Aif/.Wav file for it to burn to a CD that can be played on a standard CD player.

Rip to .Aif/.Wav and then import into an editor. Normalise and then burn the tracks.,..

By adjusting, r u talking about an mp3 product? If so, then I'd suggest running the songs through cool edit or such program and normalize. Usually with normalizing you can assure that all songs are at the same level as well as all parts per song. I hope that's what you are asking for.

Re: problems playing cd

When it can't find it on cd it means that perhaps you gave the file name a very large file name...

when burning to a cd make sur eyou use very short file names that conform to the Joliet standards...

Good Luck!

CDG copy program and burner

I am a kj and am wanting to buy a burner and program that will allow me to copy CDG's. I need the copies to have graphics, not just music help please!

Re: CDG copy program and burner

I tried Microstudio and it doesn't work. Cnet has an 80% approval. I have an HP9100 that'll burn graphics but like you, can't find the software. Microstudio wants to sell you their burner which you'll probably have to buy if you go Microstudio.

GadetLabs Wave/824 Updated Drivers?!

My brother just updated his studio with a Digital Audio Labs card. He came by my house the other night and dropped off his old Gadget Labs 824 card for me to put in my box. I am currently running OS 9.1 on a G4 Macintosh and thinking about upgrading to OS X. I understand that Gadet Labs is out of business since last year and probably doesn't have updated drivers. Does anyone know if the old drivers will work with OS X? OR... if there is a crackerjack that might have written an updated driver?

Jude

P.s. also looking for PC updates on this card as well.

OSX and Audio

OSX is still in it's infancy with Audio interfacing. I only know of one incoming audio capatible audio interface at present and that's some of the stuff from M-Audio.

OSX will be great for audio but I think there is a lot of sorting out to do with standards of audio and ASIO. I am still using OS9.2.1 for all my ProAudio needs as OSX just isn't ready for it.

I have a Korg1212 card that was discontinued some time ago. I have written to Korg (no reply after about 3 months) to ask if they are going to write a driver for OSX. I doubt they ever will as they could sell another card to me in the future instead. Cynical but true....

Re: Midi to external mixer!!!

What are the midi tracks?? Are they audio?? If it's only a midi track then the instrument that the Midi information is playing needs to be routed to a audio card that can handle 24 audio outputs. The program itself should be able to route audio to seperate outputs on the audio card. What one do you have?

To be honest, this isn't possible in one unit at present (unless I am missing something...) but it could be done with more than one audio interface using either Analogue outputs or ADAT to a ADAT equipped mixer. ADAT is a digital optical link that is compatible with some external recording devices and ADA euqipped mixers. It carries 8 channels at a time so you would need a desk that can handle 3 ADAT inputs. I don't know if you can buy something like that.

The amount of money you will spend on trying to get 24 simultaneous audio outputs from your computer is quite massive. Consider Terratec or MOTU as they offer some solutions but be prepared with a massive wallet...!

Fruity loops or not

I was planning on buying Fruity Loops, but started to doubt wether it is the best software for me. I want to have a music making program as versatile as possible with uder 100$. Please could you tell what programs I should consider. Like Fruity Loops, Orion, Magix music maker or some pearl I have yet to discover...
What's the most bang for my buck?

Depends...write or produce music?

Depends on what you want help with - composition or production. I dont think any production tools like Fruity Loops, Orion, or Magix really help you use harmony.

I want to make complete songs using all means possible. I have experience with tracking and MIDI sequencers. What do you mean by using harmony? The new Fruity Loops version with it's piano roll editor seems to make Fruity a potent tool for creating chord harmonies.

well for me, I like to have chord progressions worked out first that model a verse/chorus/bridge format, and go from there. Using harmony means that you are changing keys and using chord/key relationships to connect chords using the key of the moment. I only know of one software that does this well, but only produces one track midi files at a time which you can import to other software -check out 'chordware progression assistant'. good luck :)

Why do you need a spesific program to do that?

A program can HELP you do this just as a matter of convenience. But I've never had any use for automatic composition programs.

Re: Fruity loops or not

Why don't you just download them and try them out for yourself?

It's alot of downloading for a modem, and I'm not even sure I know of all the possible programs I should test. So I'd like to hear what software others prefer.

Video Manual for the Roland XP-50 piano

I brought a (used) XP-50 Roland Electric Piano a while back and I have the instruction manual book. Some of the instruction I can follow but most of it since like it written for computer programmers. I'm looking for a copy of the video instruction manual for this model. Roland do not carry it any more. Any suggestion were I can find one.

www.amazon.com

Are pretty good at getting that sort of thing.. Check them out...

Mpegs

What program could I use to download music videos besides Kazaa or Morphus?

Re: Mpegs

: What program could I use to download music videos besides Kazaa or Morphus?

my ass, that good enough ?

Re: Mpegs

If you want to download music videos a good program is aimster. You can go to www.aimster.com but I think they make you pay now. To not pay just search aimster 3.22 This version of aimster doesn't make you pay. after you download everything and get it going. search the artist_________then type mpegs.

EX. Nelly mpegs

P.S. They take a long time to download if you have a slow connection.
