that sounds quite amazing and expensive! you can timestretch a track to do the same job i think. applications like cool edit do this and maybe sequencers like acid pro. you should be able to do it with the demo versions so no outlay required.

Turn off DirectCD by using ctrl/alt/delete, then try another burn.
It sounds like the CDR is being taken up by another program.

Are you selecting the input for the track and enabling(?) the track? :)

A real safe technique is to turn of EVERYTHING you don't truly need for a burnt CD. That means the task scheduler, any taskbar icon programs, any screen savers, any lava lamp programs, any accessory type programs. Also, it helps to get a program like Max Memory (MemMax, or MaxMem ? .EXE) to flush the RAM clean and compress it.

If you are on a mac, there are similar programs to flush the memory clean or flush the processor caches and such.

Also, on a PC there are ways to make sure that .DLL files are flushed out of memory when not in use, but it requires editing your REGISTRY, which is like doing brain surgery to implant a thought.

On a mac, make sure you remove any extra extensions or control panels, or control strip modules.

Every computer I've ever used, runs better with Virtual RAM turned OFF!!!!!

Anyhow, the best place to look for these kinds of tricks is on freeware sites that offer many utility programs such as DAVECENTRAL.com

On a mac, check out some FTP sites such as MIT.edu using FETCH.

There is an overall good technique which is to also UNinstall everything that you don't need, and delete all trouble-causing programs. Make sure that you have a good un-installer such as

JoneSoft Un-Installer JSUI.EXE, i believe. This uninstalls programs,
and cleans up any extra junk in there.

Another good one but a tricky one is RegVac, the Registry Vacuum.
It can do wonders if you experiment with it, but just be very careful, and make backups of your changes.

Microsoft Registry Cleaner is also a simple and harmless one to use.

Then compact your registry with DOS> scanreg/opt/backup in full DOS mode.

Regularly scan your hard drive for errors, to prevent tooth cavities.

Overall, to keep a PC error free by yourself, is to learn how to do all this junk.

So if you DONT want to do this, then try to hang out with really really
geeky and technical guys (or gals, if you can find them) and treat them really really nicely in exchange for their help.

It's simple. Select your audio input on the audio track (track mixer) itself and then press the record button. At the start of a song, this requires that you specifiy where the audio (all the resulting audio tracks as well) are recorded. You should be able to see the audio meter functioning with any audio input by this stage. If not, then go to the audio preferences and select your audio/soundcard.

TIP: If you start a song, Call it something and save it to a folder of the same name. When you are asked for the audio directory for recording, make sure you select the same folder. If you need to back the song up then all the information for that song is in that folder. Ignore this and lose your audio and song data on your HD...

I totally agree with this guys views. I too am sick of todays' so called "groups" that are "packaged", record a cover tune and then become "BIG stars". Thats why I support (by going to thier shows and buying their CDs) any local band that really show some talent.
