MIDI files with SMF format 0

I am new to MIDI files and files i have downloaded will not play on my pianp. I get a message "Not SMF0" Can anyone help please. Midge

Hi.
I'm new to the music game, but know a fair but about computers, and I have noticed that the likes of my synth (Yamaha PSR-550) will ONLY play SMF 0 MIDI files. Yours must be the same. However I know there are progs out there that can convert between formats. Cakewalk is one, but if you don't have that then there are others. Failing that, email the file(s) to me at the above address and I'll convert them in CW and mail them back to you.

Hi Lisa,

I'm new to Cubasis/AV also. Perhaps if we get some others to join in, we'll get the help we're both looking for, eh?

My primary experience is working with Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.1 on a PC. I finished a recording project this year with it and it turned out great, just before my sound card died! So, a friend of mine set me up with a MAC system that he was not using to see if I could get it to work. He purchased Cubasis/AV 1.0 by mail in my name and installed it for me. (He's a good friend.)

First of all, it's helpful to know what system you're trying to run it on. I'm trying to run it on a PowerMac 6400/200, Sonnet G3 card, 350mhz, 1MB L2 cache slot , 136 MG RAM, SCSI harddrive.

I've been having difficulty getting the program to stay in record mode while recording audio from the internal CD player or any other audio source. It records beautifully for about 3-5 seconds and then it stops recording when an obnoxious "buzz" begins. The buzz is louder than any program material and sounds a lot like a massive feedback loop (~60 Hz). The transport display in Cubasis continues to act like it's recording, but it only records silence after the buzz begins.

MIDI seems to be recording fine, so far, however.

I tried calling Steinberg at the phone no. published in the Getting Started manual: 818/993-4161. However, this appears to be a number of a personal residence. I've visited the Steinberg website at www.steinberg.net to look for help in their Support area, but could not find anything. I haven't tried the e-mail: info@steinberg-na.com. So, perhaps we can give that a try.

Lisa, let me know what you've done so far and what system you're running on and perhaps I can be of some assitance.

help! can i get mpc 60 grooves for vst5?

so next best thing is to get the grooves for vst5.
i heard that you can get the grooves into cubase, but im finding it hard to find them.
does anyone

Live Instrument Waveform Sampling

I want to score some pieces for Indian and Asian string and woodwind instruments and use the actual sounds of the instruments e.g. sampling the wave forms, rather than some crappy sound library representations. I think Halion will do this. Does anybody know of other software with such capabilities?

Cda to Wva - Lost File Name

Hi,

I made a CD from a selection of wav file that have descriptive file names, IE Artist-Title.Wav , and burnt them to a CD - No Problem.

Recently I hade to grab the wav files on the cd back to the hard drive.

However all of the decriptive filenames have changed to track1.cda etc.

Any ideas on how to see the original wav filenames when grabbing ?.

How do I record from guitar to PC properly?

Could comeone please tell me how I would hook up my electric guitar to my computer to record? I thought if I ran it from my guitar to effects pedal to computer, it would work, but no... I then tried just from guitar to amplifier to computer... still didn't work.. I then tried from guitar right to computer and of course i figured that wouldn't work.. Would I possibly need some sort of special connection? I figured using normal guitar cables and a multichannel adapter should have worked. If anyone knows how please email me and leave this in the Title

Help, Need to convert AIF files to Wave (or MP3 alternate)

Help, I am designing an interactive training course and have a problem. I hired a narrator and layed down the voice tracks through our sound system. Unfortunatly, our sound setup uses mac which means the files were saved as aif files. I need to attach these to my presentation whichi is power point. Powerpoint only recognizes wav files. Does any one know how to covert aif files to wave files or even mp3 files. I have an editing program that can chance mp3 to wave but nothing that can convert aif files. Help

Aiff and Wav files are all WAVE files and in essence are exactly the same. The problem would arise where a software application was not offay with a simple file conversion...

Download a free application called SoundApp for the Mac and it will convert them for you..

Very odd digital audio/uploading issue

I am getting “extra” sounds on an mp3 (my own recording) when I upload it onto my website. The file sounds, looks (the waveform) fine on my desktop; it uploads fine, but when I download it off the site, that “version” has all these weird noises on it. They sound something like what you’d hear for a “b” sci-fi flick or something.
More details:
At the computer end, I’ve checked the file over and encoded it into mp3 with different programs to see if that makes a difference. (nothing)
I am uploading via “Transmit,” a Macintosh FTP program, which brings me to another point, even though the file is only 1.1mb, neither Netscape nor Explorer will upload the file, though they’ve both done bigger files for me in times past. This may or may not offer a clue as to the above issue.
Anyone who’s ever heard of such a thing who has a word of advice or three, I’d love to hear from you!

rhapsody keeps crashing

I am running rhapsody version 1.0 on a performa 550 and have been doing so for years successfully. All of a sudden it has been crashing frequently. When I am doing a playback I can't get 2 minutes into it before it goes down. A window pops up to say that an error of type 10 has occured. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hard drive shutting down during recording

Aloha. My hard drive shuts down while recording analog material. I'm using Sound Forge XP 4.0 and Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0. As I'm recording, the hard drive stops at varying intervals. There's no consistency with the shut downs; anywhere from 2 mins to 12 mins. I've turned off the power management of the hard drive so it shouldn't turn off. Any suggestions about where to look for this problem?

Can't listen to burned CDs in the car

What format were files in before you burned them, and what software
did you use to burn them with?

To behave like a normal CD, the music files have to be in WAV format,
and the software needs to format the disc as an audio, not a data CD.
Then, there is always the possibility that your in-car CD isn't capable
of reading CD-R discs. If it's new, then that shouldn't be a problem.

Reason freakin rocks it only sucks if you use it on a p.c, a mac is your only real system requirement.

Editing Freeware for DAT movies
