HELP ME MAKE MY TRACKS FOR MY DJ DEMO

I have soundforge obviously however I'm a dj trying to come up with a demo to submit to local clubs and promoters. I know that you have an outstanding clean up session included and great things to add to a mix now here is my problem I need to make tracks. I can record but when I put the mix into the sound forge i want to be able to cut each song so that when I burn it- it will have tracks for example 1 to 10. and when they are broken into tracks what are the procedures for that??? i'm stuck and i need help badly! how do i make tracks? like song one coming from one turntable? then mixing the other song in and then cutting it with no pauses in between? can you answer my problem please

There are 2 ways . 1 is to record straight into you computer as 1 long wave file( using WaveLab or Sound Forge or some type of sound editing software that allows you to see the music in a wave file )then go through the wave file and go to the points where you want to end that track and highlight that part back to the begining . .. .[< < < < ----]then drag that to a new window and then "save as" .type track number the artist name and track title and save . Continue ont until you finish the whole wave . Then you open your burning software and open to the file where you have saved the tracks and then burn
This is the 2nd way . .
If you going straight from tape load tape onto your computer into WaveLab or Sound Forge and then follow the rest of the steps that I gave you . . . Roxio is the best one that I have seen for burning .. make sure if you use Roxio remember to get rid of the gaps by clicking crossfade then click gaps and that will get rid of the 2 second gaps in between the tracks

September 10, 2003, KISSIMMEE, FL - LaTiahna Nelson, owner of Pitch-A-Pak, created a revolutionary line of multi-media Press Kit Presentation Albums/Binders for the Entertainment Industry and Others. There are six(6) models available -- sold empty, you simply insert your Cover Sheet or Photo, Paperwork and Business Card, along with an Audio Cassette Tape, VHS Video Tape, Compact Disc, or DVD.

“With Pitch-A-Paks, all of your materials are held in one impressive, professional and organized package. These products will change the way you present your talents, and are a must for aspiring and established Entertainers who want to get the edge on the competition, stand out from the rest, and show the Industry that they are professional and serious about their craft,” says LaTiahna.

“Many aspiring artists spend their hard-earned dollars to make their demo and other promotional materials, simply to submit these items loosely in a manila envelope, or in a paper pocket folder where the CD, DVD, tape or video keeps falling out. I know, because as a former singer, I was one of them!,” says LaTiahna. “This is what gave me the idea to create Pitch-A-Paks. I realized that if I needed a product like this, surely others must too! Without the right Presentation, even the best artist could go unnoticed and unheard, lost in a sea of ordinary and unimpressive demo tapes! An Industry Executive, Manager, Agent, Talent Scout or Club Owner with a pile of Resumes and Demo Tapes or Videos on his/her desk would most assuredly spot and pluck out the Pitch-A-Pak first, greatly increasing your odds for success.”

Pitch-A-Paks can also be used by Industry Insiders and Professionals; those trying out for the many Talent and Reality Shows that allow you to send in a tape or video; or anyone wanting to pitch, present, or promote themselves, their talents, company or organization, products, services, inventions, music, movies, videos and commercials, computer games and software, seminars and more! You can send your Pitch-A-Pak to prospective Record Labels, Agents, Managers, Financial Sponsors and Clients. Use them as Audition material for Contests, to get Jobs/Gigs, and for Demo Critiques and Evaluations. Use them to assist you in obtaining Recording Contracts, Movie Deals and Radio Airplay. Send Pilot episodes to Networks and Cable Stations. Distribute your project at Expos and Film Festivals. Promote the Artists and Athletes that you represent. Enclose a Video Tour of your Training Facility or School of the Performing Arts. The uses are endless!

Re: HELP ME MAKE MY TRACKS FOR MY DJ DEMO

Here's how I would do it... first, do all of your recording into soundforge. the whole set. then, go through manually and add about a second of silence where you would want the cd to go to the next track( the silence is only to easily find where each section you want as your "track" begins and ends). now go back through again, and highlight each "track", export it, and save it as a wav. to your harddrive.( don't highlight the silence though or it'll be on the cd in the end). do this for all of your "tracks". So, what you'll end up with is your mix cut up into different waves, each one representing a different track. of course now you can mix each part differently if you want depending on what instruments are used, etc. and you can delete your original mix. Now, open up something like easy cd creater and make an audio cd. in the options menu you can change how much of a space you want in between tracks, pick zero seconds. the end product now is a cd with your mix into multiple tracks, without any spaces in between. If this seems a little complicated and if anyone else has a better way, definitely step in. but this is the best way I know and it works fine.

The best way I've found to split my demos into tracks is using polderbit sound editor. You just slice it where you want the tracks and then the software saves it as the different tracks.
Plus the software is under $20.00 . If you have any better ways let me know.

Re: use cdwave!

make your life simple!download from here the shareware "cdwave" record your mix set directly to your hardrive, open cdwave and play large wave file, insert tracks where you want them! you can skip to the end of each track before your mix point,is that easy, save to new folder (to avoid confusion) drag and drop to Roxio ECDC,rename tracks and burn using "disc at once "option, you'll get smooth mixes,no gaps and "CDtext" with your tracks and disc name. cool! hope this helps, oh yes, where is my copy? ...hahahah

help an old DJ

I'm looking for software that will easily let me mix (meaning cross-fade with beat match, etc.) my own CD's. In addition to CD's I have a TON of rare 12" dance singles (yes, VINYL) that I would love to get on CD as well. I was hoping to find something easy to use that would let me:
1) Import music as MP3's (I guess)
2) Let me play with mixing the MP3's
3) Then EXPORT the finished file to my CD burner.

I finally had some success using Alto MP3 Maker to convert the files, and Acoustica MP3 audio mixer to creat my mixes... but I there must be something better out there .. and easier for this old man to use... I don't mind paying for something that does what I want.

Any suggestions??

Thanks!
Al

Re: help an old DJ

I'm a old Dj too,I don't know about the mixing software you mentioned (I'll check) but here's what I do,record/mix to your hard drive the old fashion way,(or trasfer old tapes) restore/clean (cooledit pro), split tracks (cdwave)and then rip and/or burn,(CD creator)I record and restore my vinyl(12" and 7")using Cooledit Pro,great results, cooledit 2000 works with plug in,oh yes,get a good sound card like audiophile 2496,(no noise)and a large 7200 RPM hard drive, burn with "disc at once" feature to keep your smooth mix intact, and plan for lots of late nights.hahaha

Car Stereo Error when playing burned CD

My car stereo flashes Error when playing the last song on burned CD and doesn't allow the disc changer to move on to the next CD. I have to remove the CD before it plays the last song in order to get the car cd player to move on to next CD. This is the only disc that I have this problem with. Burned DAO. thanks.

Re: Car Stereo Error when playing burned CD

It might have something to with the way the session was recorded... did you "close" the disk, so when the last song ends the cd player knows it's at the end? that's all I can think of...

Re: Car Stereo Error when playing burned CD

Many CD players will never play disks that were burned at any rate above 4x. Some CD recorders even specify this in their manuals. Even players that can play high-speed burned disks usually take a bit longer loading the CD's table of contents. I believe it is always wize to burn at 4x for important projects, and 8x for computer-only backups. 2x burning is actually sometimes worse on some systems if it is supported at all. 1x, of course, takes forever, and probably increased the chances for some types of errors because there is so long an opportunity for the machine to get bumped, electricity to spike, etc.

Just remember, 4x only! And don't buy bulk stacks of disks. Buy CR-R (not CD-RW) disks in the jewel cases... they are usually of higher quality.

CD-RW disks are VERY error prone. They are a technology not yet perfected.

DFreqTIP - Changing MIDI Controllers

DFreqTIP - Changing MIDI Controllers

** Visit DigiFreq for more great music technology tips & techniques:
http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/

There may be times when you want to convert one type of MIDI
controller into another. For example, you may want to convert some
prerecorded MIDI modulation (#1) messages to MIDI volume (#7)
messages for a little sound level experimentation.

Most sequencers provide this functionality, but it is often
difficult to find. Two such sequencers are Cakewalk's Sonar and
Steinberg's Cubase. Taking from the earlier example, here's how to
achieve the transformation in either application:

Cakewalk's Sonar:
1) Select your MIDI data.
2) Choose Edit > Interpolate.
3) Click the None button.
4) Activate the Control option.
5) Enter the same value for the Number Min and Number Max
parameters. This is the number of the existing (or source) MIDI
controller. In the case of our example, this would be 1.
6) Click OK.
7) In the next dialog box, enter the same value for the Number Min
and Number Max parameters again. This time enter the number of the
destination MIDI controller. In the case of our example, this would
be 7.
8) Click OK.

Steinberg's Cubase:
1) Select your MIDI data.
2) Choose Functions > Logical Editor.
3) Click the Init button.
4) Under the Filter section, choose Equal and Control Change in the
two Event Type drop-down lists, respectively.
5) Under the Filter section, set the Value 1 drop-down list to
Equal.
6) Under the Filter section, enter the value for the existing (or
source) MIDI controller for the Value 1 parameter. In the case of
our example, this would be 1.
7) Under the Processing section, leave the first Event Type drop-
down list set to Keep.
8) Under the Processing section, set the Value 1 drop-down list to
Fix.
9) Under the Processing section, enter the value of the destination
MIDI controller. In the case of your example, this would be 7.
10) Under the Functions section, set the first drop-down list to
Transform and click the Do It button.

Using either sequencing application, the MIDI controllers in your
data are automatically converted. By experimenting with Sonar's
Interpolation and Cubase's Logical Edit, you'll be amazed at the
number of ways you can manipulate your MIDI data.
