Since some days I get this message when opening some programs: "Beta DirectDraw Expired - Please Update!" Someone told me that has something to so with the DirectX Driver. I installed DirectX 8.0 from the Microsoft Site but the Problem is not solved ... some error message :(

Maybe its a bit too late, but I've come across a program called Finale NotePad 2003 for writing music which opens files with the MUS extension. You'll find it on www.codamusic.com

Audio Editing from within Sonar

I have Sonar and Cool Edit on my computer. You're supposed to be able to use Cool Edit as the designated audio editor from within Sonar, under the tools menu but, Sonar does not recognise it, although it does see Sound Forge and Wave Studio. I've looked eveywhere in the documentation and gotten no reply from either company. How do I point Sonar to Cool Edit as the audio editor? Thanks for any help

So you have to hack the registry. goto "run" and type "regedit". THis is serious computing so beware. you can easily f**k things up.

Find "Local Machine" -> "Sofware". On "Cakewalk Music Software", right-click and add a key named "Tools Menu". THen under that, add another key, name it whateever you like, for your own sake. Then add five strings under that, named each EXACtLY (no quotes) "ExePath", "HelpFilePath", "StatusBar Text" (note the space between StatusBar and Text), "MenuText" and "Type". Modify the values as follows: Type --> "WaveEditor", ExePath "[the path to the program you want]", MenuText -> "[name to appear in tools menu]" The others are optional. That should do it!

I just reinstalled Sonar and Cool Edit on a new machine. I installed Sonar first, then Cool Edit. Cool Edit magically appeared on Sonar's Tools menu.

I can't imagine that it matters, but Sonar was running when I did the Cool Edit install.

I notice that it is over a year ago since you left a message in www.hitsquad.com about PC programmes for your Technics KN920 and things do move on - but if you still are struggling I may be able to help.
I am a professional keyboard player in the U.K. playing with a KN920 and have amassed an enormous collection of style files and general software that help make my life easier as a player - tell me what you are trying to do and I'll tell you how I tackle it...
