Wmplayer has caused an error in LGVID.AX?

When I try and run some very large files (700megs+)in Windows Media Player 7.1, I get the following message.

Wmplayer has caused an error in LGVID.AX
Wmplayer will now close.

I think I've got the latest codec bits and it runs everything else fine.

Any ideas what this message means?

I started getting this error after I installed system shock 2. I found that LGVID.AX was the problem causing my multimedia players to crash and that the LGVID.AX was located in my c:\sysshock2 directory. I simply deleted the file and was able to play my divx,mpeg, and avi files again.

I got the same error and found the file in Flight2. Can't beleive it actually worked when I removed the file. Bit of a pain in the butt if you ask me.....

I too attempted deleting the file of my own accored. I located it in the directory for a game called thief. After deleting it, I found that I could listen to the audio of my video files which errored in LGVID.AX, but was unable to view them. WMP was unable to locate a replacement decompressor and so the problem continues. Any solutions or alternative decompressors?

I know this advice is gonna come a little late, but you can use wavs as samples, go to the sample editor and click on the yellow folder button, browse for the file you want and hey presto you have a sample:) If you're referring to soundfonts, i havent had much luck with these but you can load the soundfont (there are many free ones on the net or various companies such as Sonic Implants sell an excellent range of professional soundfonts) into the library, then ttransfer from there to the sample editor by dragging the sound bank you require into the sample editor.

any way to record on to a mini disk

hello i a have a sony home mini disk recorder ,is there be any way to some how hook it up to my computer .so i could record some music off of the internet. on the back of the md recorder there is a rca type input and a digital fiber optic input for a fiber optic cord .could there be any way to some how make the unit connect to my computer and make a half decent recording.my computer is a old compaq 5360 with a 56 k modem .I no this set up sucks,but its all i have .well i hope someone can point me in the right direction .thanks in advance james

you can buy a cord from any audio outlets thats looks like a double sided headphone pin lead. if you get that you put it in the pacle of your computer where the sound card (or where you plug the speakers in) press the recprd button on the mini disk player and then play the music u want then u will be able to record on to the mini disk.

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a mini disk recored, but I don't have a very good computer in fact I only have Microsoft windows for workgroups 3.11. I have a resonablie good panasonic stereo with aux and have been told that I may be able to use that for recording. what kind of audio outputs does your computer have? If it has the 1/8th stereo mini output, then buy a cable that goes 1/8th stereo to RCA.This should work.

yes it does have a 1/8 stereo plugin. i will try this .i hope the quality of the music will be ok .is there any sites that anyone could suggest to find some music to record from .thanks for your help

Yes, there is, but you'll need a DVD burner to do it, and at
the moment there is only one available, the Pioneer DVD-A03R
or something like that.

hi there,

i really dig all the music software info you send out to me, but i need some help on a burning program for a certain model cd burner.

i have a cd writer that is only compatible to 8c burning programs, most programs i come across is only for 4b or 4c cd-burner, i have tried all easy cd creator programs and is not able to do what i want it to do.

what im wanting to do is turn mpg's into vcd so i can watch music on my dvd multi machine.

could you please help me out if is possible or suggest some sorta program that is compatible to an 8c cd burner, and what i have to do to turn them to vcd.

Cleaning up Analog recordings

Can anyone recommend the best hardware and software to clean up cassette tapes on my hard drive before I burn them to cd? These tapes are live audience recordings from the 70's.

I suggest Cool Edit as the best software for the job. You can remove the hiss and further edit the songs with EQ or whatever it needs after recording the tracks on to your hard drive from cassette. I don't think you need any extra hardware for such a simple job. If you learn to use Cool Edit you can do amazing things.

I agree. Dont forget to leave a space at the start of the file so that the noise reduction software has got some noise to analise
Sonic Foundry has got a good noise reduction plug in also
