is there any way to hook up speakers to your computer WITHOUT using a receiver?

: You need a cable with a 3.5mm stereo jack plug at one end and two RCA phono plugs at the other. The jack plug goes into the LINE OUT on the sound card and the phonos connect to a spare input on your receiver (NOT the phono input), normally labelled AUX or something.

Transfer to CD

I recorded about 20 songs, did all the editing. I transfered to CD. When i play the cd, i get a click noise in between the songs. But the noise is not on my local recordings. This is coming when i transfer my songs to CD. How can i eliminate this problem?

Digital recording machine vs audio software

I would like to record my seminars and burn them to CD. Which would be better. Using a small digital audio system from $1,000 with a built in cd burner or $59 dollar audio software for my laptop and buy a cd burner. THanks

Considering that your seminar is probably one or two channels, buying a $1000 multitrack machine seems a waste of money. It might be worth considering a standalone CD burner if two tracks is all you need. If you are using mic's, then a small mixer is essential or some sort of mic preamp like the M-Audio AudioBuddy.

I don't usually recommend Mini Disk for serious recording as it compressed the sound to a quarter (I think) it's original size and therefore loses quality in the compression. Whether you use MD or not depends on how serious you are taking this.

R&B Ballads

You get the music from your CD to your computer by
using a CD Ripper program - you'll find these on this
site at

Once you've done that you'll need a CD Burner to burn
your new CDs - you'll find these programs at

I have a dream : a program that converts any audio input to any (or at least a lot of) instrument voice(s), like saxophone, trumpet, bass, vintage synth sound, etc... since i'm not really a multi-instrumentalist (acoustic guitar and voice -i sing like an angel:-). i think this is called a harmonizer, though i can be wrong. i would like it to have a quite natural and/or vintage sound. Though i don't mind paying for quality, i wouldn't object to it being free.
