trouble emailing mp3's

I am unsuccessfully trying to email mp3's using aol and/or yahoo to friends abroad who have unlimited university email accounts. I have never emailed mp3's before but have been able to email jpegs.

Thank you for any advice.

Re: trouble emailing mp3's

I use my ISP email account when sending Mp3's to and from other people. I have tried to send an Mp3 to someone on a Yahoo account with a 30meg limit and we couldn't get it to work...

Re: trouble emailing mp3's

how exactly do you get an ISP email account?
and what is the difference between that and a regular email account?

thanks

Re: trouble emailing mp3's

Who do you use as an Internet Service Provider? If your dial up, you might be using a free one (the number your computer dials up to in order to get on the internet) or you might pay for a dial up, cable modem, or DSL etc...

Rimmer

Re: trouble emailing mp3's

Maybe your E-mail provider doesn't like having illegal MP3 files being sent through it's network. Try using WinZip to pack the file (it won't compress it, but it'll give the file a .zip file type), then try and send it. If it doesn't work, check to see if there's a limit to the size of file you can send.

SoundApp or similar for OS X??

Hi,

I recently switched to OS X and am wondering if there is a similar sound program to SoundApp for OS X. I need this program to convert sound files to system files.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Joel

ALSO...

Check out

www.versiontracker.com

and click the OSX tab. There are a bunch of handy utilities around..

Rimmer

Re: ALSO...

Thanks. I'll check it out. I really like SoundApp, but it will only convert to OS 9 sound files. I need OS X.

Quicktime...

You might need Quicktime Pro but I don't think so...

how can I use all the keys on virtual keyboard using my midi key

My virtual keyboard holds a lot of keys. (soundblaster), I hooked a midi keyboard up to my computer, but it has less keys, I just got a synth drum kit for my keyboard but can only use the upper part of the set, how do I shift to a different part of the virtual keyboard so I can play the notes on my midi keyboard?

Re: how can I use all the keys on virtual keyboard using my midi

I usually change the octave of the midi keyboard itself. Check your controls...

complete idiot needs info on sampling/mixing hardware

OK- I am ready to start making my own music- I have a Mac Powebook G4 and lots of old albums. I was thinking about hetting a protools/mbox and a good turntable- what else do i need? Sorry for being so new!

Re: complete idiot needs info on sampling/mixing hardware

USB still has issues when being used with Audio. I thought the issue was more to do with the drivers but maybe it's just USB doesn't work well with Audio. Whos know's.. The complaints still seem to keep coming...

Luckily you have firewire but unlucky that firewire still lives in the higher end hardware world. Presonus are bringing out the Firestation which might be a little more affordable than the likes of the excellent (by all accounts) MOTU 896. Mixed reviews on the MOTU 828 although some people seem to rate it. Don't forget your PCMCIA slot as this is your third and possibly best option at the moment (short of the 896). RME have some nice units, the Multiface might work nicely with the PCMCIA kit. All these solutions will give you relative studio grade ins and out for your notebook. Running record decks into any of the mentioned equipment wont work. You will need a record deck mixer or a Phono (record deck phono) to Line leveling device. A bog standard hifi amp would do it but you might drop some quality if it's a cheapy.

Opcode Studio 64X and Windows XP: Has *Anybody* Found a Solution

I see from this site that there has been some Windows 2000 and ME success with getting the Studio 64X up and running. There is the downloadable NT Driver, which I have up and apparently running. But, no matter what I do, I cannot get the Studio 64X program (or any other program, for that matter) to see the Studio 64X.

The drivers seem to be installed. I disabled COM2 and put the Studio 64X on its "space"; the computer seems to know it is there.

The VxD key in regedit seems not to be there as described, but I did fiddle with the only (two) places I found anything to do with VxD...no luck.

At one point, I managed to get the drivers installed so that the very "front" page--that is, the "General" tab--that one gets on the Device Manager actually had a "Location" for the Studio 64X, but I cannot get that back again. That appeared to be the closest I got (but, alas, I had unplugged the Studio 64X and remembered that I had done so!).

OK, enough rambling: Has *anybody* had *any* success with this device under Windows XP? Please, if so, tell all!

With deep thanks,
Tim

Re: What is the best Mastering program for a PC?

Mastering is an art cum science. Use your ears and use a combination of Lineq broadband from waves.com and apply L1 or L2 maximizer in the same order to your mix.
Wish you luck

Processional

Where can I find the sheet music to the piece "processional" by Stanislas Syrewicz? It was written for the BBC production of The Choir in 1995 and I am desperate to find the music for my wedding. I have "The Choir" CD with the music on it, but I need the score.
Can anyone help?

Re: Processional

If you can't find it on the internet, I would either phone the BBC and ask or contact someone like Chapels of Bond Street (if they are still going).

best of luck

WIRES FROM COMPUTER TO MIXING DESK

Could anyone help me please, i've got an apple mac computer with an audiophile 2 soundcard, which i want to run through my mixer down two channels. So where can i get the wires for this, ie from red and white/black audio cables running into jacks for the mixer, does this make sense??
Any help would be appreciated

Re: WIRES FROM COMPUTER TO MIXING DESK

I think the AudioPhile has Phono (RCA) connectors. Chances are, you mixer has 1/4" mono Jacks.

You can either by a decent phono to phono connector and then buy some 1/4" jack to phono convertors, or get two mono 1/4" to 1/4" cables and convert one end to phonos.

I would personally either make one from the component parts or buy a dedicated lead. Decent hifi shops, Music shops, or somewhere like Radio Shack/Tandys should have what your looking for.

Don't cheap out on the leads. Spend as much as you can afford.

Loop recorder: how activate L/R level meters?

I wanna record internet radio with Loop
recorder. I can record it, the clock and th
mb status seem to indicate a recording, but i don't
hear a thing after pushing "play". The indicator moves over a horizontal axis on a totally black background.
Checking properties of the audiofile, everything seems ok. In the startup interface of LR there are these
L and R level meters which probably should light up
when recording, they don't..
I checked my soundcard volumes, they're ok.
In the option "input" in configuration after clicking
"Retrieve volume settings" it reads: "sorry, could
not init mixer, cannot get mixerline controls".
How can i hear recorded stuff?

PS: i use an unregistrated version, 2.O2

Changing the sound to another instrument

Hi. I would like to know if there is a software
that can be used to change a solo flute into
sounding like a piano or a bass guitar or vise versa.

Re: Changing the sound to another instrument

What a real instrument into the sound of another real instrument?? I think your expecting too much. The day that happens properly is the day that real musicians hang there hats and head for the employment office.

Gentlemen,

There are some very interesting (and capable) audio restoration software at www.speechpro.com, which should be referred to at hitsquad.com.

What's happened to Digicleen? All the links seem to be down.

When I play a playlist on my media player (currently Winamp), I'd like to be able to have a two second autospace gap inserted between each track.

Is there a media player (preferably free) that I can download which will do this for me ?

Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rich. Why don't you do the following:

1. Using your audio software simply put a silent audio recording in that track and save it as a WAV file

2. Insert the particular time delay in seconds you want, based on how many different times you created, into the play list of WinAmp.

3. I use WinAmp and its karaoke companion for live performance. I have a duo, both guitarists/bassists and singers. HTH

internet radio software

What is the best software package on the market for Internet radio production for a small to medium-sized station?

Re: internet radio software

It really depends on your machine, your connection and whether you are doing live streaming or pre-recorded segments. You should work that stuff out before you go any further. Live365.com offers a good deal to small broadcasters.

Is Live365.com reliable? Will it always play and will it be around in 6 months?
