Re: music software

There are programs out there that will do what Ejay will do. But what you need are the samples as that's where the music will come from. Sonic Foundry sell a lot of loops that may be of interest. I'd also suggest you check out their ACID software.

: my son has a programme called dance ejay. is there a programme out there that works in a similar way, pre done blocks, that can produce more middle of the road or even classical tracks. sorry to be so square.

seeing the actual keys

Hello, Just wondering if there is a freeware or shareware program out there that will play a midi file on a virtual piano on the computer screen and show the actual piano keys pressed. I learn music from sight alot better. Thanks in advance

frutyloops 3.3 step sequencer??

listen i didn`t figure it up yet so ...plz help me

i want to be able to type a note in my keyboard or midi and send it to the piano roll or to the step sequencer how i do that (like in any simple tracker when i type a note its show in the tracker) plz help me i`m lost

easy

u need to select 'note to step sequencer' or whatever. I think it's under Options - a red box/light need illuminated. Then u also need to have the 'typing notes to midi' box selected on main interface I think. Carefull though I think the first light I mentioned will record a bar pattern over + over if selected or unselected and so needs to be on/off if u weant to record a long piano roll part. hope that is clear?!

share ware freeware generative music

hey i was hoping someone might point me in
the right direction for free/shareware generative
apps? thx in advance http://www.mp3.com/cell

trouble playing cd's in hp cd-writer-plays 1st few seconds then

in winamp, i can drag seeking bar back to beginning after the music stops and it'll play the whole song then.

Music Notation

how to convert MP3 or WAV to piano Music Notation .Iam looking for a s/w whid does this. Can some one help me in finding this.

Re: Music Notation

There is a program called WIDI capable to polyphonic WAV to MIDI conversion. WIDI is shareware, you can download and evaluate it for free from

http://www.widisoft.com/download

You can download samples produced by that programs from:

http://www.widisoft.com/examples

WIDI can use many different formats as input, including wav, mpg, mp3 and CD-Tracks.
Many recognition settings can be adjusted to improve recognition quality.
WIDI contains build-in Wave window to select a piece of sound to recognize and a build-in MIDI player to listen for the result.
Help documentation and sample files are provided with WIDI.

WIDI 2.7 works under Windows 95/98/2000/NT.

You are welcome with your questions and suggestions to our forum

buzz in logic audio

Please everybody i need some help, i ve got a powerful computer but often in logic when i read a song even with only two tracks for exemples the sound gets spoiled, there s a kind of buzz mixing with the music.(nothing to see with connectors, jacks...) Has anybody got an idea of what it can be? Thanks a lot

Computer??

Some computers aren't that suited to Audio so the speed and power of the machine will make no difference to the audio quality. What sound/audio card are you using. Did you check that the computer is properly sheilded for Audio work??

More information might help...

Steve...R

buffers need increasing?

check logic audio settings and try to increase your audio buffers. Are u using an ASIO driver for your soundcard? You should be or a DirectX driver at the very least.

help for a beginner?

I'm about to embark on my first computer based musical project. What software based synths would the denizens of this site recommend for a mac user?

Thanks for your help. All Suggestions welcome!

D

That depends...

On what sort of music you want to make. Whether you play an instrument or not, sing etc etc....

There are some stand along programs for making electronic music right over to the other side to digital music studio emulators... Give us some more idea of what you are looking to achieve...

Steve...R

Re: That depends...

Thanks
What I want to do is make electronic music (ambient/dance ish). I can play keyboards, sing, manage most instruments. What i want is stuff i can use on the mac without having to add lots of other hardware.

D =)

I can help but recommend...

...Reason by the propellerheads. There is a demo for download from their site. Essentially, it's the upgrade to Rebirth but has sooo much more to offer. My friend uses it a lot although I have steared clear as I have a lot of Synth and Sampler hardware as well as an analogue based studio. Check it out and then decide whether this is the program that you are looking for...

If you play keyboards, I would consider (when you have the cash) a Midi keyboard you feel comfortable playing as a keyboard player. If you bought a Midi interface for the mac, you could plug the keyboard into the mac and play the sounds that Reason and other soft synths have to offer through a program called OMS (easy to set up... really..!).

If you want to sing into reason, then you would have to procure a half decent mic and a mic preamp (one that has a line output) that you could then plug into the mac. In essence, you will now have an analogue/digital studio (not necessarily comparible to the Logic Audio/ Cubase VST/ ProTools world).

There are other ways to go but start off there and see if it suits you.. If not, get back to us and we can help... ;0)

£300!

that's just too pricey for me.
A friend has given me micrologic - what's compatible with that, anyone?

VST Insruments...

Micro logic may or may not support VST plugins. I can't remember. If it does then you could get some VST intruments that would plug into channels in the program. There a quite a few free ones out there and some decently priced ones too.

What you could do is work with Sample Loops. Many people work like this although there are some copyright issues with the length of some of the samples you can use.
