mmjb.exe

I have a program I use in my home-based machine embroidery business called PE-Design. Some of the designs I download from other sites have the following message in them when I use WinZip: "cannot locate mmjb.exe. this file needed to etc." What in heavens name is that supposed to mean? After several weeks I finally thought to search for said "mmjb.exe" and came up with this site. Can anyone help?
Thanks, kk

The file mmjb.exe is a file that was downloaded when you downloaded Music Match Juke Box in your computer. I am having the same problem and am trying to resolve it myself. I think I may have to reinstall it just to get the file!! Good luck to you and please say a lil prayer for me !!!

Re: mmjb.exe

The mmjb.exe file is music match juke box if you go download that and open the file with mmjb the files should work

Re: mmjb.exe

MMJB stands for MusicMatch Jukebox. You probably had it on your computer at some point. Hope that solves part of the puzzle.

I need tips in creating good melodies...

Could someone give me some tips for creating melodies in fruityloops that don't sound like dangerous heavy nightmare melodies?
(I don't mean too many instruments or something like this..But ervery time i start to create a new melody it sounds like nightmare...)
plz email me your tips at sEbbeLx@gmx.de 'cos I'm a very busy man and hav no time to look every day after the messages here..)
thx for all

Try some effects...

Coming up with nothing interesting on Fruity loops happens to me all the time. What can be done is very simple and most of the time it works out quite well. Add some simple delay to your melodies to give them a nice "dreamy" feel or work on stereo delays too (it alters the way you hear the sound and thus could make something lifeless really interesting!). I use the first version of FL so probably the FL 3 has even more effects to play around with, so, have fun!!!

Jerry Spina

If you don't have the time...

.... why don't you spend some of the time that you would be playing with FL's to come back and see if someone has bothered to reply to you?? I doubt anyone can really be bothered Emailing you with all the cutting and pasting involved.. If you want an answer then come back for it... It's 'Rude' to expect otherwise...

Re: I need tips in creating good melodies...

I've got the same problem too. Just reply in this forum tho.

Re: I need tips in creating good melodies...

This suggestion is something I read in a guitar magazine years ago and I think the approach is practical no matter what you r medium (guitar, fruity loops, piano, anything.....)
Come up with some fun melodies by humming or singing or whistling, or even stealing from something you heard on the radio.... Then, with the melody firmly implanted in your brain, go back to the computer/ guitar/ chosen instrument.... and painstakingly make the noises coming from the computer sound like what you've got in your head..... seems kind of obvious but it's actually opposite from the approach of sitting there banging you head against the computer monitor...
The advantage is that you are using your instinct/ natural musicianship (nearly everyone can whistle or hum) as the source, therevy infusing your personal style into your writing and hopefulyy elevating your skills to match your musical instinct.
Another technique, used by the masters thru all ages: start with an existing melody written by someone else and play it backwards, or change the order of some of the notes.... might sound like a cop-out, but with a change of timbre and transposition, some of the most original sounding stuff is created this way.
Good luck.

altho....

what we could have here is a creative person who creates, but does not like what he creates... I'm often like that, too... perhaps you're writing 'nightmare' music because that's what you need to express at this point in time... my music was always angry & a little nightmarish until I realized a few things about myself... now sometimes it's angry, but more often it's sweet, melodic music that comes out in a fairly wide variety of styles... try a little introspection, cuz copping someone else's work just to say you have original music is a bald-faced lie... in my humble opinion, of course

LP 's converted to cd

Can anyone help a poor novice out here ? I am wanting to convet my lp collection to cd .I have the cd writer ,I have the software (spin doctor) and I have the lead to connect my pc to the hi-fi. The problem is, when I've gone to put the lead into the back of the hi-fi ,there are no audio out connectors . The only connectors I have are 'audio in' which take the cable from my turntable . What do I do ??

Get a decent pre amp

You NEED a line level from your amp. Do you not have tape in/out's?? If so, you want to take a feed from the REC outputs associated with the tape in/outs.

Some people use Headphone outputs but I personally wouldn't do this with anything of value as the headphone outputs aren't matched for static line level inputs. The headphone output is amplified variably, and adjustable by the user, not a great solution then...

how do i send as an atatchment a 7min long homemade mp3 to a ffriend? i always get the message back that it was to big\exceeded the limit set by isp etc. have tried winzipping it but to no avail. am i do sumat wrong?friend at other end does not have any special software apart from standard\usual windows software. thanks

Re: music by email

Well, a 7 minute MP3 is going to be a pretty big file I'd assume. Most ISPs are going to block a file that big. You have a number of ways around this. One: Look for web-based mail services that allow large attachments. Set up an account for your friend and mail the file to the new account. There are a few of these services around. Two: Set up a free website account and just upload the file into your directory. Your friend can then download the file. Easy huh?

cd burning

Does the software allow you to burn cd's on your cd-rom or do you need a separate cd burner to download the software onto to download?

Re: cd burning

You need a CD-Burner. It is physical hardware that is usually installed in your PC. To make it run you will need CD Buring software. You cannot use your standard CD-ROM drive and CD Burning software. Try if you want. It won't work.

how do i convert sound bank into .rfl

please tell me how to make the sound bank work.

Re: how do i convert sound bank into .rfl

Sound banks are Creative's instrument collections. A sound bank consists of various sound fonts. They are designed for use with Creative's sound cards and some sequencers which can use them.

How to make them work? Depends what you're trying to do that doesn't work.

Instrumental or Accapella

Is there a program that can turn a mp3 or wav file into a instrumental or accapella(voice) of the music file?

Re: Instrumental or Accapella

: Is there a program that can turn a mp3 or wav file into a instrumental or accapella(voice) of the music file?

There is not a program but you could use the Phase inversion method which needs an exact copy of the instrumental and the instrumental + the vocals. All you need to do is to line up both the tracks so as they slightly phase and are perfectly in sync and then invert the waveform of one and it will cancel the parts that are inverted....bingo...an accapella from a full track.

No...

;0(

Sort Of!

You cant really split it into the two seperates completely to make a clean accapela or instrumental as you wold get direct from record company but you can get some fairly good results from cd audio.
When they create many cd's the instrumental is in stereo but the voice is in mono (It messes this up when they start getting clever and using effects!). This means that you have the same vocal stream in both parts and u can mix them using programs like cool Edit 2000 to remove the vocal leaving only the two instrumental streams. After that you can basically subtract the instrumental from the original to get the acapella. This has varying resuts depending on the cd but I have used it fairly effectively on some tracks.
I'm currently working on a program called MusicMassacre which will do this for you so keep a look out!

Re: No...

Actually, you can still use a sound editor like soundforge or any other good tool to separate the different voices / sounds by ripping not used frequency of the original sound and copy/paste it to separate destination sounds.

CD Rippers - for the connoisseur!

Hi

Can anyone recommend a good CD Ripper to download ?- the list on this site is enormous

Also is Adaptec CDcreator be used for burning MP3 or WAV to CD if not can anyone again recommend a good burner

many thanks in advance
Stalos

Re: CD Rippers - for the connoisseur!

Adaptec CDcreator also rips songs from CD.
It burns CDs as wav files by default whether the files are wav or mp3. The current version apparently has an upgrade for burning mp3's. I haven't tried that.

Music Software for Computer Printout

I'm a pro Musician and do a lot of arranging for Bands and Vocalists. I'm fed up writing my scores out by hand, and want to do it all on my Computer.
However, U don't want to pay a fortune for the Software.
Any suggestions?

This is a music software site. I don't think you'll find anything here to help as your question is not really about music software.
