Trouble making CD to CD audio
I have tried on several times to burn a CD from another CD, and i am able to get two songs on before i receive a writer error messagestating: "Buffer underrun occured" the infomation is not being feeded to the burner fast enough. What can i do?

Check the DMA settings for both the CD-ROM and the CD-RW. It may be that DMA on the CDROM is not selected.
I don't know which program you're using, but Easy CD Creator has the facility to copy the CD onto the hard drive before feeding data to the CD-RW. In this way, even my old 4x CD-RW never runs out of data (and never has done in the two years I've had it.)

need advice
Hey gang,
I'm a young musician, I currently do my producing on a portable keyboard. It's not too fancy it only allows me six bars and I feel limited. I've long been wanting to go into midi but I just can't afford it right now so. I decided to try the free downloads but I'm a first timer to the digital music sceen and I can't seem to work the fruityloops 3.30. I couldn't even got to the tutorial. Are there any easier free downloads I can start with that will alow me to still Produce and learn the whole digital thing at the same time? Please give me your comments and suggestions.

ProTools: How can I hear tracks?
I just downloaded ProTools and got it running, but can't seem to get any sound through my speakers when recording my own sessions. The demo session worked fine, but my sessions aren't giving me any sound. Any ideas?

can you use a audio cd cleaner disk in a pc?
best way to maximize the enitre mix volume
is there a plug in or anything that maximizes the entire mix?...... I have Powertracks 7.0 and I can get my mixes up to a level comprable to those found on cd's.......can you help me???
compresion/loudness maximising
u should be using a quality compressor over your entire mix r u doing that? there are dedicated loudness maximisers which act like compressors too.

I have also had these problems. If I increase the volume too much, I get distortion. Where can I find these compressors or "loudness maximizers"?

actually I did try that..... and the compresser seems to lower the quality.... and bring the mids up too much .....where can i get a higher quality compresser?

in the UK PC World stock FL. It comes in a big box with a sample CD + manual I guess. V3 u would probablly be entitled to a free upgrade via online transfere only I'd say.
AndyP - Question re RIAA preamp
Thank you for your advice re turntables and recording from mic input. I will use the line-in connection from my amp. Purely as a matter of theoretical interest, is RIAA an equalization curve and could Goldwave, for example, apply it through the spectrum equalizer?

It's possible, but because the equalisation isn't linear, I'm not sure GOldwave
could do it. Most programs tend to apply the equalization equally across a range
of frequencies. The RIAA equalization decreases towards the hinge point. A graphic
equalizer is better, but depends on how narrow the frequency bands are. To get
the best sound, you're better off using the proper device.

drivers for turtle beach sound card
Some people asked were they could get drivers for the turtle beach TBS400-3355-01 card well i got in touch with there tech support and this was there reply

The card has been discontinued due to lack of drivers compatible with PCI
2.1 and higher. The maker of the chipset, Aureal, has been out of business
for several years.
You may find drivers for 95/98 at our website, www.tbeach.com.

Making Hypnotherapy recordings

I am planning to use Qbase to make professional clinical hypnosis discs but have several queries:
1. Can Qbase record subliminal messages and if so how? nb with subliminals the recording is embedded in the music and conscious ear does't pick up the message but unconscious does. In this way positive affirmations or mantras can be played to the unconscious.
2. I will also need suitable background relaxation music. Does anyone know of suitable copyright free music or a talented musician that would like to compose a piece?
3. The discs will also contain pink noise (6-10hz to synchronize brainwaves) Can you recommend a source for this?
4. Finally, I am also looking for a recording of a heart beat at 52 beats per minute. Can you recommend a download for this?

I would suggest you just download Brainwave Generator and take a look at the current presets. It has the option for you to place in wavs that will adjust the freq. to obtain whatever your end result might be. Also- You can use the Frequency pattterns to get an idea of what you need to be producing,. and I dont think cubase will do that for you.

downloading problems
When I try to download an MP3 encoder (3 or 4 tried), I keep getting told that it's already in my list and that I should remove it from the list first. What list?
Can anybody offer a suggestion for solving this very frustrating problem?

Total Recording installation
after I down load the tr33.exe file, I proceed to install it. I then receive a screen to proceed by clicking finish. when I click finish, I receive a message .\setup.exe is still running. I can go no further. In addition, I try to go to my Sound Card Master Control and I get a meggage, santacruzecpl has caused an error in santacruzcpl.exe. I can then uninstall the tr33 and my sound card returns to normal. I am trying to install Total Recorder 3.3

Having problems burning
every time I try to burn a CD it goes half way and
then stops and says that the MMJB is not working
and to shut my computer down and restart it. but that does not work. still having problems any suggestions?

close ALL background applications except 'Explorer' by using Ctrl>Alt>Delet - it's made my Nero burning a dream.
How to record your lyrics without hearing air in the background?
I have mystic media audio deluxe, and everytime i record my voice i hear air in the background. how do i get rid of the air and if i can't, how can i record without hearing the air in the background?

Try to use (Andy P.) another microphone,but use a small room with no reverb.
It's also good to record with a noisegate.

The noise you hear probably isn't air (unless it's windy when you're recording).
It's most probably a poor microphone, which is adding a lot of hiss to the
recording.
You can try and remove the noise by using a notch filter to remove the particular
frequencies where the hiss is located, but it may affect other parts of the
recording. As with all problems, it's best to tackle it at source, rather than
trying to remove it later.

If it's that urgent, why didn't you look in the software section
before posting? There are lots of free programs that convert CDA/WAV
to MP3.

Any lower to higher mp3 bitrate converter?
I have some mp3's of lower bitrates...are there any converters available to convert this to higher bitrates?

Any particular reason why you want to? You won't
improve the quality at all, only make the file size
larger.
However, there are lots of porgrams that do MP3 conversion
in the software section. You may have to convert the MP3
to a WAV file first.

PRO TOOLS: Digidesign INIT
When installing Pro Tools, I ran into a problem when trying to load the demo. It said that the system couldn't run without the "Digidesign INIT". Well, I found that in the digidesign folder. The computer then told me to put the "Digidesign INIT" into my preferences folder.
I did this, but STILL could not load Pro Tools or the demo.
If you have any ideas or info it would be greatly appreciated.

Nero 5.5 selecting multiple drives
Nero 5.5 is supposed to allow me to burn multiple drives simultaneously. However, I cannot figure out how or where to enable this setting. I've been messing with the software for hours now, read all the help documentation and still can't figure it out.

Basic: making my PC & synth communicate
I have a recent Win 98 PC with a Soundblaster Live! card. I have a standard MIDI interface lead plugged into the card with the DIN I/O plugs in my digital piano.
No matter what I adjust on the PC and the piano, my MIDIfile sequences don't play the piano. They do play the internal sounds; the piano is set to Omni Mode (receive on all channels); I keep swapping the DIN plugs as the MIDI in/out labels on them are ambiguous. The Multimedia MIDI Out settings on the computer are set to SB Live MIDI Synth; when I change that to SB Live MIDI Out, all that changes is that the internal sounds don't play.
What should I change to make it work?
