I think if you head to either the NOTATION or GUITAR categories on this site you will find software that converts MIDI audio to notation/tablature. If you have WAV audio you can convert that to MIDI using software in the FORMAT CONVERTERS category.

This simple technical question is like a deeper cultural question: "In what ways can I borrow or use for myself another's culture ?"

This is an interesting question, because every culture has benefitted from every other culture in some way. They may not get along, but it's impossible to avoid social and cultural influence. To invite the exchange of ideas is often an invitation to social and cultural progress and well-being. However, when this is done without consent, it starts to more closely resemble theft of sorts. Songs may not hold financial reward, but they are of a very personal, and spritual nature to those who create them with care. To impose your voice on another's song, in some cases, is like imposing your words on another's prayer. Unless they have invited you to sing with them or to sing on their behalf, there is something distasteful about it.

Not enough modern minds understand this issue well enough, and it shows in the contemporary culture of <b>computer-aided exploitation</b>. I wish Ledbelly were here to tell you about this personally. He was an influential Blues and Ragtime composer who actually suffered time in jail wrongfully as his musical expressions were stolen from him and turned into great profits which he saw little to none of. Like many true stories of this type, Ledbelly was a black man, and his legacy lives on in the corrupted continuum of musical exploitation.

Another such story is of the great Russian electrical inventor Nikola Tesla. Many of his inventions preceded, superceded, precursed and complemented Thomas Edison's work, but while Thomas Edison's name still enjoys fame and financial gain, Nikola Tesla was largely ignored and unrewarded by the electrical and radiological revolution which he generally was the actual father of. This is written in those history books which bother to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Interestingly, while Nikola Tesla wasn't black, the man who invented the electric lightbulb filament (the heart of electric lighting) was a black man.

It's better for your pride and dignity to sing your own songs. People are constantly asking how to do this, sing over someone else's song. Why? What joy can there be in destroying someone elses art? What reward is there in avoiding your own creativity? I say the real answer is this:

1) To add your own vocals, you must first create your own song. Everyone has talents, you will feel better as you discover your own.

2) To enrich the song with your own flavor, cooperate with the other song-maker, and share the joys of the song together. Let him help you with your songs, and you help him with his songs. But this is like a marriage. There are sacrifices and rewards, but both members must be in mutual agreement about the arrangement.

This is an answer that respects everyone. Hopefully this is also an answer the everyone respects.

I need software that will allow me to play with a church ensemble consiting of an electronic keyboard, electric guitar and bass guitar. I play trumpet and they want me to join but I don't know how we ever will be able to play the same songs and make them sound right.
