Re: How to play MP3 slowly,

Most editors I know decompress an Mp3 to work with it but will offer you to save it again with the compression it had originally. I use Peak on a Mac and it will process the file with time stretching and let you save it as anything you want. I tend to use Mp4 these days if I am using compression as it sounds better and is smaller.

Best of luck.

Building a new DAW?

Just a question. If you were building a new DAW what chip would you use Athlon XP 2200 or P4? I am just about to start building a new DAW and am trying to answer that question. I am just about to start on my project and that is the only thing holding me back. Any input would be greatful.Thanks.

Re: Building a new DAW?

I use a Mac so I am not the best person for this answer but I read a lot and spend a decent amount of time on forums and hear people complaining about audio not working well with some motherboards as well as non Intel chips.

winamp 3 mp3 to wav

i,ve just got rid of my old version of winamp and downloaded winamp 3, but i can't find the disc writer option for converting mp3 to wav. i presume it's possible on '3' could somebody let me know how

If you go to the winamp site, you can download components. Download the DiskWriter component. It works a little differently. To convert, right click on a file inthe play list and there is a convert option. The directory location is setup the same way or when you choose to convert.

pc recording

I'm not a musician, my only goal to be able to record voice on PC from microphone good quality, without any hiss and background noise. I have tried new USB Labtec computer microphone, but it still produce a lot of noise. Any suggestions on equipment? Thanks

Re: pc recording

u may be getting interference from your cpu - try turning it off while recording. alternatively you may be picking up the hiss from the card itself, it may be poor at recording. Labtec do good quality equipment so i would think the mic is fine. even a v cheap mic should record with no hiss.

program errors

I recently recieved a copy of the program, that it turns out, my Dad had trouble with.
1- while recording, it stops about every third pass and shows the message "drop out".
2- about 1/2 the time when you play back a new track, it plays two or even three beets ahead of the other tracks.
3- the track levels change when you rewind and hit play, as if the automation were on. -it's not on, though.
4- when using the cursor to locate a spot in a song, you can't go to and exact spot. the line indicating location jerks around instead of moving in a smooth fashion.
Can anyone give me a clue about how to fix these things? They're driving me crazy.
Thanx,
Barry

Can anyone tell me how to set up my SW1000XG so that I can record the processed sound a my PLG100-VH Plug in? I can hear it OK but it won't record.
Also, the MIDI controller gives a oud hum as soon as it is patched in to control the harminies.

HELP MY LATANCY!!

I recently bought a delta 1010 card. When I trigger my keyboard everything's perfect. However, when I use my keyboard to trigger my pc's internal sounds they always have severe latency. Also, when I run my software's demo an error stating that the disk si too slow appears. My pc is PIV, it has alot of ram and disk space too. What is happening? How can I solve this? Please do send me a mail if u have a clue. Thanks in advance.

Filter control

Can anyone help me or is there a way of controlling the filter on the S2000 via midi sequencer if so how the f**k do u do it?? No where in the manual does it tell u how to control this parameter or what control change number this is! Please help me!

Re: Filter control

Ironically, I was reading an S2000 manual about two weeks ago looking for a controller listing and there is a midi program change number page in there. Take another look.

The midi sequencer just has to be programmed to send controller changes on that controller number wherever you want to event to happen.. Where the S2000 has a filter controller number or not I don't know.

What sequencer?

I'm also looking for this information. If you find out anything and can explain how to do this in simple form, as I'm not real computer literate, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know at lbutts@henderson.net or lbutts_42420@yahoo.com
Thank you, Lydia

direct recording with DI-box problem

I have a cleron 666, 310Mb RAM and a Vibra 128 soundcard.
I use Cubase VST32 v5.1 to record.

I used to record guitar and bass parts by recording directly into the soundcard. The quality of the recording sucked, so I bought an active DI (direct injection) box. The problem is that I really don't notice any increase in the quality of the sound! Mic'ing an amp also still sounds terrible. Have anyone encountered this problem before?

Thanks to Rimmer, who helped me out the last time.

Re: direct recording with DI-box problem

Hmmm. I have used lots of DI's and they always improve the tone of the guitar and make it sound 'right' compared to running it to line level.

What DI box is it?

How to burn CDG's to CD

I would like to know how to burn cdgs to CD, what software should I use? what Speed should I burn at, is there a format I should be selecting EI: Data, audio, vcd etc. Any reply would be greatful, thanks

That would depend on a couple things...

1. What do you intend on using as a player and what formats it support (CD+G, DVD, VCD)?

2. Which burner (make and model) are you using?

There are some real good help files here: www.karaokeplayground.co.uk

Re: That would depend on a couple things...

I have the same question and here are my answers:

1. I intend to use a Karaoke Machine (CD+G compatible).
2. My burner is a Samsung CD-R/RW SW-408B

Do I need a special CD or is a "normal CD" good enough?

Thanks
/Nano

Re: That would depend on a couple things...

Couple things like you have all the time in the world to go chasing shadows on this subject. Really I have chased enough these "sites that can do it" and they are all bogus. Not a single software program have I found worked. Played the song but no graphics is about all you can hope for. Why would you even comment on something you know nothing about about? Send this guy on a wild goose chase because ya wanna be hero for a thread answer. What an idiot I think!!

Reason 1.0- sound driver in use?

I am trying run Reason 1.0 on a mac, but when I go to select the built-in sound card, I get the message, "sound driver may be in use by another application". Ive tried to turn off a couple things but nothing seems to work. Any help?

Re: Reason 1.0- sound driver in use?

Go to your control panels > sound.

You can select the inputs and outputs from there. Chances are that the output might be being used by an audio card driver. Check the OUTPUT and see what it says...
