GVOX and Encore 4.5

Does anyone know what happened to the company GVOX. I purchased Encore 4.5 for Mac from them and they no longer seem to have a website, email, phone or fax.
Since they require a feedback from them to initiate use of Encore 4.5 I'm stuck. Anyone have an answer?
Many thanks.

MP3s from Sonic 3.0?

I have sonic 3.0 and made some pretty cool trance music. I used the feature in the software to burn 3 of my songs directly to a CD... However, when I listen to the CD it is MUCH poorer quality then when I play the songs IN sonic. It sorta skips, etc. Any reason why? I've tried it in several CD players.

Is there any way to save sonic songs to MP3s as I think this would fix this problem, or atleast burn them with better quality! It sucks so much, the songs don't sound good at all on CD! Thanks!

music editing

I am doing a project that requires I go in and only pull out pieces of recorded music. I am going to want to cut and paste these segments into iMovie for later playback with video. Although I can place complete songs into iMovie, I have not found a way to just bring in the portion of the songs I want. I am new to this area and have no idea what software would be best. Please help!

Sound Forge, SonicWORX Artist, Sound Studio Classic, etc.

What you are describing requires an Editor program for
audio files. You can load up a song, edit it, and then
save a copy to be loaded up by iMovie.

if iMovie can't bring in portions, then you will
have to create your own recorded segments with the
editor.

good luck.

RE: to question SCSI Error when loading CeQuadrat Justburn on XP

When I first purchased my Compaq Presario model 7478 in 2000 I had problems with recording CD's so I complained to Compaq support ....about the Cequadrat cd recording software.....they sent me a disk titled "Presario Software Enhancement CD Consumer Just Burn Version 5.58" At any rate I upgraded recently to Windows XP Professional (I skip the Compatibility part) and of course immediately discovered after the install that the burner no longer recorded....when I launched the program I received errors that read no scsi found, no recorder found.....and of course the internal recording software within XP was a failure as well....XP did not recognize the drive as a cd-rw rom..........My Compaq came with a burning software named Cequadrat. I uninstalled the Cequadrat software rebooted and then installed "Presario Software Enhancement CD Consumer Just Burn Version 5.58".....this software is also a product of Cequadrat.......believe it or not I can record using the burner again.......the bad side to it is that the internal XP software is still not a working function........XP will not recognize the drive s a cd-rw and assigns a regular cdrom driver to it. Another thing is when I rebooted after installing "Presario Software Enhancement CD Consumer Just Burn Version 5.58" I then again received errors and could not record to CD's. I went through the motions again of uninstalling, rebooting , and reinstalling ....again the burner works.....It's a big inconvenience.....because if I need to reboot my system I know that XP will mess up or disable the drivers for the cd-rw .....the ability of the software to record once I am at the desktop again is not a function again if I have to shut my system down .......but at least this is a go around for now. I later ran the compatibly option on the XP cd and got this report:
The currently installed driver for the Adaptec CD-R Filter Driver (required by Adaptec CD Creator and EZ-SCSI 4.x) versions 2.4 and earlier is not compatible with this version of Microsoft Windows and will be disabled during the upgrade. For more information about this driver, visit the manufacturer's Web site.
For a list of devices supported by this version of Microsoft Windows, see the Microsoft Windows XP Compatibility List at http://www.microsoft.com.
Just thought I'd share this information....... because if anyone else has the "Presario Software Enhancement CD Consumer Just Burn Version 5.58" (at the time my computer was under warrenty so I was sent the disk free of charge)....... ....there is a way to get the burner to work if your XP install is an upgrade and not a full install.

Re: SCSI Error when loading CeQuadrat Justburn on XP

i have the same problem with mine...it says scsi error since i installed XP...what are the steps i need to take in order to get my cd burner to work??

Finale 98 Notation Software Mac

I have an old Mac Quadra 800 that I want to give my girlfriend who is composing music and I want to add Finale 98 software to it. Media4 does not sell Finale 98 anymore and the computer will not take Finale 2002. Does anyone have a version of Finale 98 they are no longer using and want to give it to me or sell it cheaply? Thanks.

Dr. Cooke:

I too have a huge investment in MTMDLX (over 600 pages of liturgical music), and have been running it on Windows 95 and 98 PC's for about the past 6 years or so. Recently, I bought a machine from Dell that runs XP, and I have problems similar to those that you report. It would appear to be some kind of font problem, but I have not as yet been able to find a work-around. Have you received any positive responses?

Sincerely,
Father Bill Rusen

Re: Music Time Deluxe - Version 3.0 & Windows 2000me

It looks bad for users of Music Time Deluxe.

I tried Music Time Deluxe with W2K and it is OK until I do the lyrics and titles. I also have a Windows ME PC and it is fine on that PC. At www.gvox.com it says in not so many words that MusicTime is NOT compatible with Windows NT and W2K. Perhaps the same is for Windows XP. Music Time Deluxe tries to "talk" directly with the hardware, and that is not allowed in Windows NT technology.

Perhaps Encore will read your old MusicTime files.

I am learning how to use Sibelius instead of the older MusicTime. Good luck!

Re: Music Time Deluxe - Version 3.0 & Windows 2000me

I don't use Muzktime, but I recently helped a friend
install it on a Compaq system running XP. It took me a
few minutes to figure out, but the answer is actually
quite simple.

Muzktime is an old program designed to run under
Windows 3.1. When it is installed on a computer, it
puts the necessary fonts, (I think I remember that they
are called Anastasia and Frets1, 2, and 3) into the
\Windows\System directory. The system reads them as
installed, but unavailable... hence the problem. Copy
them to a second location, delete the fonts from
\System, and then move them to \Windows\fonts. This
should solve your problem. Good luck.

Re: Music Time Deluxe - Version 3.0 & Windows 2000me

Hi.

I use a Dell and XP and have exactly the same problem. When I install the software, the fonts (Anastasia and Frets) are placed in the Windows\Fonts folder. The fonts are also placed in the MuzkTime folder, so I'm afraid that the solution you suggest, does not work.
Do you have another idea?

/Lars

Re: Music Time Deluxe - Version 3.0 & Windows 2000me

I am also haveing the same problem with my computer. I mow have a computer with Windows XP, and I can not add lyrics to my songs. I am a Music Education major in college, and I need to compose music for classes. The only possible solution I have found is a company called GVOX that has released a version called "Music Time Deluxe 3.5" for WindowsXP. The product costs $120 dollars. I would much rather patch my old program, but the company offers a down-loadable patch for approx. $70 dollars. I have not tried this yet, and I am afraid to mess up something on my computer. I will e-mail the company and see if this would work for my windows 95 version, and I will re-post here if the patch works.

Sincerly,
Michelle

Cassette to PC?

I want to put some of my old cassettes onto CDs. What I have firstly done is record my cassettes using "record from line-in" under the software Realplayer Jukebox saving it as mp3. However I've been told you cannot drag the mp3s onto my CD creator software using Realplayer. What I want to know is what sofware can be downloaded free so that I could record my cassettes onto my PC which can than be dragged to a CD.

RealAudio conversion for Mac

If you have a Mac, you can use an app called "AIFF Writer" (available in the Developer section of Apple's Web site) to record RealAudio files (plus WMAs and generally anything that would normally come out of the speaker) to an AIFF on your hard drive. Install the app, then choose "AIFF Writer" in the Sound control panel. Play the RealAudio file (you won't hear it while it's being recorded), then de-select "AIFF Writer". There will be a sound file in the folder containing RealPlayer (or whatever program you were using), which you can convert to MP3 or use as-is. There may be something like this for Windows; I'm pretty sure there's a similar app for the Amiga. BTW, I think Snapz Pro can also do the same thing.

is there anything better than Orion for that price? Come on, if

it has all the features of Orion it can't be priced cheaper, or can it?

Re: is there anything better than Orion for that price? Come on,

There are a few free trackers, the most well known being buzz. It offers a quasi-complete production environment with all sorts of synths and stuff.
I cant comment on the quality of its sound vs. orion however.

Lost Message?

I posted to a thread early this morning, and now the whole thread seems to be gone. Is there any way to search for it by my own name? It may have inadvertently been placed in a software download forum but I looked at a few different ones at the time; does the search function go through all the forums or not?

Re: Lost Message?

As far as I know, the forums only get indexed by the search engine once a week. I had the same question a while back. Also, if there's a technical glitch a message can go anywhere. Regulars around here will have seen this forum do some crazy things.

And if you were after a crack or something of that nature, the guys that run this site will have probably removed it.

Yes the message board software crashed and although
we were able to restore most threads we did lose
a few hours of replies which was when you said you

I found the exact thread you mentioned and restored
your reply.

By the way - for any other replies done on the
